NEAR TERM...
(Now through Thursday)

Cold, dry conditions will continue through Thursday as a large
Canadian high pressure system maintains its hold over our local
area. Even under mostly sunny skies during the afternoons, highs
for today and Thursday will be in the upper 40s to low 50s. With
upper ridging also building in, we are not anticipating as much
low-level cloud cover as we have seen over the past couple nights.
Therefore, lows tonight are expected to plummet into the 20s
areawide. A Cold Weather Advisory will be in effect from midnight
tonight through 9 am tomorrow across the entire area for apparent
temperatures (wind chills) in the 15 to 20 degree range. /96

SHORT TERM...
(Thursday night through Saturday night)

Moisture levels will begin to increase as an upper trough digs
across the southern plains and ejects eastward. A sfc low will
develop near the southeast Texas coast and track along the Gulf
coast. Rain chances will increase from west to east late Thursday
night and continue through much of the day on Friday. There
remains some uncertainty with regard to the type of precipitation
expected, at least initially. Temperatures Thursday evening will
fall into the mid to upper 30s prior to the onset of precip and
increasing warm air advection as the surface low moves closer to
the area. Drier air in the lower levels will increase the potential
for surface temperatures to fall to near freezing just as the precip
begins to move into the area. This will set the stage for a brief
period of snow/sleet, generally across areas north of US 84. Warm
air advection will quickly warm the vertical column early Friday
morning, and any wintry precip will transition to all rain before
any accumulations or impacts occur. This will keep significant
impacts well north of the area. However, trends will continue to
be monitored as a difference of just a few degrees could have a
significant impact.

Very breezy conditions will develop near the coast as the low
track across the Gulf Coast and the pressure gradient increases
across the marine area and along the coast. A wind advisory may be
needed along the coast Thursday night into Friday morning. A cold
rain will continue across the area through much of the day on
Friday with highs in the lower 40s across northern areas. Highs
near the coast will reach the low/mid 60s as the warm front moves
just inland along the coast before quickly cooling as the low
moves east. Rain clears the area by Friday night as the low moves
east. Dry and cold on Saturday with highs in the low to mid 40s
inland to upper 40s along the coast. /13

LONG TERM...
(Sunday through Wednesday)

Another shot of cool and dry air moves in behind a cold front
Sunday night into Monday morning. This will maintain cool and dry
conditions through midweek with highs in the 50s and lows in the
low to mid 20s inland to mid/upper 30s along the coast. /13

MARINE...

Moderate northerly flow will continue through tonight.
Winds will shift to southeasterly by Thursday night. By Friday, a
storm system will pass along the Gulf Coast bringing a very strong
onshore flow, and building seas, to the marine zones. Gale force
conditions are becoming increasingly likely over the Gulf zones on
Friday and watches/warnings will likely become necessary in a future
forecast package. Further upward adjustments to winds and wind gusts
will be possible over the coming days, as this will be dependent on
the strength and track of the storm system. Winds quickly return
back to an offshore flow by Friday night in the wake of a cold front
and will subside through the weekend. /96
