The scattered snow showers ended shortly after dark. Winds are
still gusty due to a tight pressure gradient between an exiting
trough and high pressure approaching. Our pressure gradient will
relax overnight as that ridge pushes into southwest WI. Inland
areas are already seeing a decrease in the winds due to the
weakening pressure gradient and also less mixing with the
nocturnal inversion. Expect temps to steadily fall overnight,
and suddenly fall when winds fall off due to efficient
radiational cooling. With dewpoints of around 10 and falling,
our forecast lows are around that value.

Tonight through Sunday night:
Scattered flurries, light snow, and light rain/snow mix showers
are moving west over central WI. This activity is in
association with a cold front that is moving over the area,
steepening lapse rates amid the daytime sunshine. Any mix should
change over the snow with time and flurries/light snow showers
should continue until after sunset, mainly remaining confined to
areas along and north of I-94. Gusty winds from 35 to 40 mph
will also be likely into tonight as we mix and tap into greater
momentum aloft.
Winds should gradually ease overnight with clearing skies
returning for Sunday. Overnight lows will be chilly in the upper
single digits. Sunday itself should remain dry and breezy, with
slightly colder temperatures in the mid to upper 20s ushered in
by the brief cold advection behind the cold front.

Monday through Saturday:
A west to east oriented ridge will move overhead on Monday as a
strong low pressure system moves through central Canada. Gusty
southwest winds from 35 to potentially 45 mph along the
lakeshore will usher a warm airmass northward and our daytime
highs will increase to near 40. Clouds are expected to increase
through the day as a clipper system moves over northern WI
overnight Monday into Tuesday. Warmer temperatures will stick
around through at least Tuesday before a passing frontal
boundary knocks temperatures down into the low 30s for
Wednesday. Dry and mild conditions then continue through the
rest of the extended period.

A cold front will work southeast over Lake Michigan through the
remainder of the afternoon and into this evening. Gusty Southwest
winds are ongoing and will continue, becoming northwesterly with
time into the overnight hours. A few gusts to gale force may
occur on a more isolated basis for the rest of the afternoon
through midnight CST. Moderate freezing spray will also be
possible over most of the open waters, mainly during the early
morning hours on Sunday.
Northwest winds will then ease a bit Sunday morning, but remain
elevated into Sunday afternoon. A second prolonged period of gusty
southwest winds is then expected to take hold Sunday evening into
Monday night as strong low pressure moves over James Bay. Gales
look more likely during this time period, and a Gale Watch has
been issued for all of the open waters of Lake Michigan.CMiller
