* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest and western Texas.

* WHEN...Until 9 AM CST this morning.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other 
  sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor 
  plumbing.

...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM MST /NOON CST/ 
THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Northeast winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph 
  possible.

* WHERE...Guadalupe Mountains of west Texas and Southeast New Mexico.

* WHEN...Until 11 AM MST /noon CST/ this morning.

* IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile 
  vehicles like campers, vans, and tractor trailers. Gusty winds may 
  blow around unsecured objects.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds will be particularly hazardous at higher elevations where the 
strongest winds are likely to occur. Be especially careful driving 
in these mountainous areas. People driving high-profile vehicles 
should strongly consider postponing travel in these areas until the 
winds subside.

Delay travel through Guadalupe Pass or find another route, if 
possible.

- Strong cold front moving in late today to bring gap winds to
  the Guadalupe Mountains and much below normal temperatures along
  with a first freeze to many Sunday morning.

- Monday and Tuesday morning temperatures at or below freezing
  for many.

- Brief warmup midweek before another cold front moves through by
  the latter part of next week.

Low clouds and moisture have overspread the area once again tonight
as evidenced by dewpoints in the mid 50s and widespread low clouds.
This along with gusty south winds have kept temperatures mild and
mostly in the 50s. This will all change later today, but before that
happens we have one last warm one. Winds will veer to the west and
northwest later this morning helping to sweep low level moisture to
our east. Clouds will clear and with mostly sunny conditions
temperatures will climb into the 70s nearly areawide. A strong cold
front arrives late in the afternoon bringing chilly conditions the
rest of the weekend. Temperatures will drop to near freezing for
most locations north of I-10, with the central Permian Basin
expected to see their first freeze. Will keep the Freeze Watch
going, likely to be upgraded on the day shift today. Gusty winds
will make it feel much colder with wind chills Sunday morning into
the teens/20s. Strong northeast winds will develop behind the front
across the Guadalupe Mountains where gap winds will develop. The
High Wind Watch remains in effect with gusts up to 65 mph expected
overnight into Sunday morning.

Sunday is looking downright chilly with continued northeast winds
and cloudy skies keeping temperatures mostly in the 40s all day.

We are on a bit of a roller coaster this week as far as temperatures
go. Expect a brief warmup through midweek, even with a weak cold
front moving through Monday night. Wednesday looks like the warmest
day of the week with highs in the 60s/70s. Another strong cold front
arrives Thursday knocking temperatures back below normal. A weak
shortwave traversing the area could spark a few showers with the NBM
keeping chances low (20%) for now during the day Thursday. Warmer
conditions return by the end of the week.
