.DISCUSSION...
(Today through next Sunday)

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: The upper ridge axis is expected to
flatten early Tuesday with minor instability encroaching upon the
northern sections of the forecast area. Showers are expected to be
warm enough for rain across portions of northern Humboldt and
Elko counties. Winds will be breezy with southwest speeds of 10 to
15 mph and gusts to 25 mph. Tuesday's high temperatures will
continue to run above normal with readings in the 60s. Look for
mainly dry conditions over much of the area Tuesday night with
lows in the 30s.

By Wednesday, an upper level low pressure system will be pushing
on shore across the western United States. Look for increasing chances
for precipitation with most locales north of an including the I-80
corridor seeing light rain showers (fifteen to sixty percent
chance) with the highest chances for measurable rainfall in the
north, along the border with Idaho. Forecast amounts for rainfall
are expected to be a trace to a tenth of an inch in the valleys
with northern Elko and northern Humboldt counties seeing the
highest amounts with valley amounts a trace to five- hundredths
of an inch. Temperatures will cool slightly but will remain in the
60s. Wind speeds will increase during the late morning and
afternoon with southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts to 40
mph expected. Patchy blowing dust may develop over central and
northwest Nevada during the afternoon and early evening hours with
some minor restrictions to visibility. Light rain/snow showers
will continue across the northern most sections of Nevada with
winds diminishing during the overnight period. Lows will remain in
the 30s.

The upper flow will shift westerly for Thursday. Cooler air will
work its way into the area with high temperatures reaching the
50s. Mainly isolated showers are expected in the north with little
to no accumulation. Winds will continue to be breezy in the
afternoon in the north with gusts to 25 mph. The threat for light,
isolated showers will continue across the north with lows in the
20s and 30s.

Models are showing upper level ridging across the forecast area
for Saturday and through the weekend. This will bring dry
conditions and highs in the 60s with lows in the 20s and 30s.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:  High confidence continues in a
dry and fair weather forecast today. Increasing confidence of
more active weather beginning Wednesday. Minor changes were made
to the NBM grids for this forecast package.

.AVIATION...VFR conditions will continue through the next 24
hours. Breezy winds will diminish during the evening hours today
at KELY and KTPH, but will be redeveloping late tomorrow morning
and afternoon with impacts at all terminals. ISOLD/SCT -SHRA
expected across far northern Nevada but not expected to impact
KWMC-KBAM- KEKO at this time.
