* WHEN...From 6 AM EDT Monday through Monday evening.

* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away 
  from shore into deeper water.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.

* WHAT...Strong east to west longshore current.

* WHERE...Coastal Brunswick County.

* WHEN...From 6 AM EDT Monday through Monday evening.

* IMPACTS...Longshore currents can sweep swimmers and surfers 
  into rip currents, piers, jetties, and other hazardous areas. 
  It may sweep swimmers off their feet, making it difficult to 
  return to shore.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Caution should be used when in or near the water. Check with
lifeguards before entering the ocean for possible hazards you may
be swept into.

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will maintain dry and unseasonably cool conditions
through the weekend. A coastal low and another storm system
will bring unsettled weather and more cool temperatures starting
Monday and lasting through mid week. Dry high pressure should
then return late in the week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...
A bit of a persistence forecast as high pressure remains to our
north through the period. Guidance was almost universally a tad mild
with last night's lows but only by a degree or two so the forecast
has been nudged by about that amount. Highs tomorrow should mirror
those of today rather closely as any weak WAA may be confined to
just above the boundary layer.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...

Details: Surface high pressure centered to the north will continue
to ridge southward into the area while a coastal trough develops
offshore. Rain chances/amounts should remain fairly low Sun night as
some drier air lingers over the area, but then will ramp up Mon/Mon
night as low pressure develops offshore and moisture/upper-level
forcing increase. Main uncertainty continues to revolve around the
track/strength of the low which will impact rainfall amounts. If the
low tracks closer to the coast we should see more rainfall given the
potential for a bit of instability which would lead to heavier
rainfall rates. Most likely rain amounts thru the period are
generally 0.75-1.75", although reasonable worst case amounts are
about 1.75-3.75", generally highest near the coast. Temps will
remain below normal given the breezy northerly winds and clouds/rain.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...

Details: The area looks to remain between inland surface high
pressure extending down the east coast and offshore surface low
pressure much of the period. A complicated upper-level pattern
however is leading to some forecast uncertainty through mid week,
particularly regarding surface low track/strength and thus rainfall
timing/amounts. At the very least we should see mainly below normal
temps, periods of rain, and breezy conditions (mainly near the
coast), especially through Wed night. Dry high pressure will then
return late week with frost possible inland Fri night.

.AVIATION /00Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
VFR will continue over the next 24 hours. There will likely be
some stratocumulus developing with bases in the 4000-6000 foot
AGL range Sunday afternoon, but ceilings should remain VFR.

Extended Outlook...Low pressure developing along the coast
will likely spread MVFR ceiling across eastern South Carolina
Monday, spreading into North Carolina late in the day. The
potential for IFR ceilings increases for all coastal airports
(KILM, KCRE, and KMYR) Monday night into Tuesday along with
increasing rain chances. Unsettled weather with MVFR to local
IFR ceilings may continue through Wednesday as a second area of
low pressure tries to develop across the Carolinas.

.MARINE...
Through Sunday...High pressure remains centered well north of
the area through the period, with a ridge axis extending into
the Southeast. The longevity of the resulting NE flow on the SE
side of this high will cause wave heights increase gradually up
the east coast from S to N. As such a few advisory-worthy seas
will start cropping up off Georgetown County zone AMZ256 by
midday if not late morning.

Sunday Night through Thursday...Low to moderate confidence through
the period. The local waters will remain between inland high
pressure and offshore low pressure keeping a healthy pressure
gradient over the area which will lead to elevated northerly
winds/seas. There is some uncertainty regarding the
track/strength of low pressure however. At the very least a
Small Craft Advisory will be needed thru the period, with a Gale
Warning even possible Mon thru Tue night.
