EDT THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Strong north to south longshore current. There is also a
Moderate Risk of rip currents. A Coastal Flood Advisory is also
in effect with up to one half foot of inundation above ground
level expected along low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal
waterways.
* WHERE...Coastal New Hanover County.
* WHEN...For the Beach Hazards Statement, until 8 PM EDT this
evening. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 7 PM to 10 PM
EDT this evening.
* IMPACTS...Low-lying roads and locations along the Intracoastal
Waterway and adjacent tidal creeks may observe minor coastal
flooding. Check with local officials for any road closures or
impacts. Longshore currents can sweep swimmers and surfers into
rip currents, piers, jetties, and other hazardous areas. It may

experience minor coastal flooding. Low-lying roads and locations
along the Intracoastal Waterway and adjacent tidal creeks may

High pressure will continue to extend south into the Carolinas
through early next week. More typical summertime weather should
then return toward mid next week as the high shifts offshore.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Surface high pressure continues to ridge down from the north with
"cool" air still in place. The main feature for today is a low-level
trough (between 925mb and 700mb) moving northeast into southern SC
this morning and afternoon. While heaviest rain is expected to
remain to the south, a few rounds of showers is likely to impact
Georgetown county this morning. This afternoon, scattered showers
and isolated thunderstorms are expected to impact northeast SC,
while lingering mid-level dry air keeps chances lower across
southeast NC. Highs today in the mid 80s with the expectation wedge
stratus will not be as expansive as the last few days. Minor coastal
flooding is forecasted along area beaches during this evening's high
tide due to the influence of today's full moon. Low-level isentropic
lift may keep relatively light showers in the area through tonight,
with low temps around 70F.

will be concentrated near Georgetown and Williamsburg counties
this morning, before chances increase for most of the area this
afternoon though remaining highest across northeast SC, leading
to periodic sub-VFR conditions. Low stratus is forecasted to
return tonight towards end of TAF period. Northeasterly winds
continue to dominate the area with wedge of high pressure from
the north.
Extended Outlook...Restrictions to flight categories may
continue into Sunday due to either spotty afternoon convection
or low ceilings each nighttime/morning periods. More of the same
is possible into early next week with a return to more typical
summer weather starting Wed.

Through Tonight...Northeast winds 10-15 kts with gusts to 20 kts
persist through tonight with inland high pressure wedge still in
place. Low-level trough will lead to an increase in showers and
thunderstorms over northeast SC coastal waters this morning. Seas 3
to 4 feet during the day lower to 2-3 feet tonight, predominantly as
NE swell.
Sunday through Wednesday...Much of the same pattern through early
week with high pressure to the north and weak low pressure to the
southeast. A more typical summertime pattern should return Wed with
the subtropical high re-establishing itself in the more typical
position offshore. No significant winds/seas are anticipated through
the period.
