Strong to severe storms are expected to impact most of the area this afternoon through the evening hours. 2 inch hail and wind gusts up to 70 MPH are the primary hazards. Secondary hazards include localized flooding, and patchy blowing dust. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until Midnight (12 AM CDT) for Hitchcock, Red Willow, Rawlins, Decatur, Norton, Thomas, Sheridan, Graham. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH SATURDAY... Severe weather is possible Sunday with a Marginal Risk across the Tri-State area and daily chances for storms continues through mid week. Hail and wind will continue to be the primary hazards. A prolonged heat wave is expected to impact locations mainly along and east of U.S. Highway 83 through most of the next week. Heat indices are expect to warm to the 100 to 105 degree mark during this time. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation may be required.

...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN KIT CARSON COUNTY
THROUGH 345 PM MDT...
At 318 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms 12 miles south of Burlington, moving east at 15 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern Kit
Carson County.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 70 in Colorado between mile markers 420 and 450.
Highway 385 between mile markers 170 and 198.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
Landspout tornadoes can form with a developing thunderstorm before
rain, hail, and even thunder is observed. Landspout tornadoes are not
usually associated with a wall cloud and are often difficult to
detect with weather radar.
