  tonight and through the morning hours Monday.

- Red Flag Warning Monday afternoon for Cheyenne county in
  Colorado along with Wallace and Greeley counties in Kansas.

- Isolated strong to severe storms possible across northwest
  portions of the area late Monday afternoon.

- Strong to damaging winds Tuesday along with accumulating snow
  across the west resulting in near blizzard to blizzard
  conditions especially across eastern Colorado. Widespread

For fog potential late tonight into Monday morning, current T/Td
spreads continue to tighten over the past couple hours from the
south based on the latest obs. Current visibility guidance is still
mixed as to the extent of dense fog forming after 06z Monday.
Numbers are mixed from 3sm or higher, down to many locales
especially west of Highway 25 seeing a mile or less. For now do not
plan on issuing a Dense Fog Advisory unless conditions sharply
change in the next several hours.

For fire weather concerns on Monday, the current watch remains in
effect at this time. Most of the current dewpoint guidance is
holding the driest air for areas along/west of Highway 27 into
northeast Colorado. The driest air still remains in Cheyenne county
Colorado, Greeley county in Kansas as well as western portions of
Wallace county in Kansas. Depending on the positioning of the low by
midday Monday, downslope flow will create additional drying that
will work into central/western portions of Kit Carson county and
possibly into SW portions of Yuma county near Joes/Kirk. The
positioning of the low will also affect the amount of gust potential
towards Red Flag criteria. Current wind guidance keeps mainly a
southerly gradient over the watch area, with some switching to brief
SW flow which will aid in the drying. Next shift will have to
monitor potentially adding in Yuma and Sherman counties.

For thunderstorm potential Monday afternoon, the focus will be
the area around the low as it tracks east, as well as the
positioning of the dryline. The latest 00z NAM guidance does
show several hundred J/kg of SBCape/MUCape with the focus at
this time Highway 27 and west, which could allow for a few
isolated strong to severe storms. The EHI(Enhanced Helicity
Index) 0-1km and 0-3km are showing readings near 1.0 in the west
around 21z-00z, tapering to near zero as the evening progresses
along/north of Highway 36. Some of this could support some weak
spinups near the low in the form of a landspout and will have
to be monitored.

No changes to the current high wind/winter weather products at this
time.

.SHORT TERM /THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/...

A surface low is traversing across the southern Plains and leading
to an increase in mid and high clouds across the area. Winds for the
day have been a bit breezier than what was seen in guidance as
a slightly tighter pressure gradient has set up with a
developing surface low across east Colorado. Am watching a low
chance for some showers and storms across portions of Gove,
Logan and Wichita counties through the evening. Currently have
10-14% pops in the forecast with some drier in place. Satellite
does show some deepening cumulus across SW Kansas so will
monitor over the next few hours. Severe weather is not expected
with this activity. The winds are forecast to let up a little
bit but will remain breezy as low level jet develops and begins
advecting moisture into the forecast area. This is forecast to
begin as the surface low across the southern Plains moves off to
the east which is currently acting to block the moisture return
at this time. As soon as the moisture return begins the
potential for stratus and fog will increase. There does appear
to be a dense fog potential as well but with the breezy winds in
place there does bring some question in exactly where the dense
fog will develop and how long it will persist. Some guidance
does have the winds tapering off to around 6-10 knots near
sunrise which if it does occur then the fog may be a bit more
widespread. With confidence being below 80% in the location of
the dense fog will hold off on any advisories at this time.

Monday is still forecast to be the start of an active period for the
forecast area. The dissipation of the fog will play a role into how
the day plays out as some guidance has it lingering through the late
morning/early afternoon. A developing low pressure system does look
to be the main factor as to when the fog will dissipate as drier air
pushes into the area. Guidance is however split on how far east the
drier air will push with the low due to the overall positioning of
it. Winds are forecast to increase with gusts around 45 mph behind
the dry line which will bring fire weather concerns to portions of
the area. Have went ahead and issued a Fire Weather Watch for Kit
Carson and Cheyenne counties in Colorado along with Wallace, Logan,
Wichita and Greeley counties. Confidence is highest in multiple
hours of critical conditions across Greeley and Cheyenne counties
with the current forecast position of the dryline. Did include
the other counties as there is potential the dry line will set
up further east and/or the drier air is bit stronger and pushes
further north into Kit Carson county. At this time, the NAM
positioning of the dryline which is what the current forecast
is based off seems the most reasonable as the westward setup of
the dryline, at least in the past seems to occur more often than
not. As the winds increase, which will occur across southern
Colorado the longest does grab my attention for some plumes of
dust to work into the SW portion of the area which would add an
extra hazard onto the fire weather potential as well.

As the low pressure system continues to deepen across the area
a northward moving warm front will be in place along a with
triple point across northwest portions of the area. Guidance
continues to show 500-1000 j/kg of MUCAPE and steep low and mid
level lapse rates in place. With the strong forcing do think
there will be enough to produce some low topped thunderstorms
across the area. If the higher amounts of CAPE can be realized
then there will be a chance for isolated instances of severe
hail up to 1.25 inches with the strongest storms along with some
damaging wind potential as well. Am continuing to monitor the
low potential for a brief landspout as well due to the
increasing vorticity due to the proximity of the low. The
favored area for surface convergence has shifted a little bit
further than what was being seen yesterday towards the
Yuma/Washington county line but a broad arc of 75-200 j/kg of 0-
3CAPE is still seen as well which with all combined is
something that will need to be monitored.

The low pressure system will continue to deepen through the
night with dry slotting becoming more evident across the east.
Some additional (non severe) thunderstorms are possible as well
towards the center portion of the low through the night.
Further west across eastern Colorado any ongoing rainfall is
forecast to turn to snow as cold air advection occurs on the
backside of the low. There does continue to be some variation on
the timing of when this occurs but am gaining confidence in an
earlier transition (around 06Z) based on wet bulb zero and GEFS
ensemble members favoring the colder air wrapping into the
system sooner as well. MUCAPE will still be in place which
continues to bring to my attention very convective banding
potential across eastern Colorado and as far east as the Highway
27 corridor. This is also supported in the majority of GEFS and
ECMWF ensemble members as well, the question will be where will
these set up at? This may be difficult to exactly nail down as
they will be more of mesoscale feature but again the current
favored area for these heavy bands to occur do look to be across
eastern Colorado and towards the Highway 27 corridor. Due to
this the snowfall amounts have increased for the western
portions of the area with 2-5 inches currently forecast but
within the bands 6+ inches and 2 inch per hour rates will be in
the realm of possibility.

Winds will also begin to quickly increase within the snow and push
to the east as the low begins to move. Confidence has greatly
increased in 60+ mph winds occurring as nearly all guidance has
trended this way, the main question with the winds will be how
strong will they get as 60-70 knot winds remain just above the LCL
which is quite low due to the ongoing precipitation. So will
continue from the previous shift messaging the potential for 70
mph wind gusts. The winds will also lead to near blizzard to
blizzard conditions where the snow will be occurring. Where the
heaviest snowbands and a result the higher amounts of snow will
bring concerns about damage to infrastructure along with the
potential for closed roads and impossible travel conditions.
Power outages will also be a possibility not only due to the
strong winds but due to the snow load as this does look to be a
wetter snow than what we have seen the past few months.

The precipitation will continue to push to the east as the day goes
eventually turning rain over to all snow but with lighter snowfall
amounts to the east due to lesser residence time of ongoing snow.
The strong winds will continue through the day and push east as
well. Have made no changes at this time to the High Wind or Winter
Storm Watches that was inherited.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...

The long-term looks to remain fairly active as another precipitation
system is expected to move through Thursday night into Friday
morning.

Wednesday, we'll see a ridge building in from the west, but the 850
mb axis axis looks to pass overnight Wednesday, so high temperatures
will be limited to the 40s, thanks to northwesterly winds.
Thursday's temperatures are a bit of an unknown still. The 25-75 NBM
Max temperature ranges are around 15 degrees. This is due to model
variance on the strength of the WAA. As it stands, the southerly
winds look to help the southern CWA into the low 60s. Unfortunately,
cloud cover will keep the northern CWA cooler, likely in the low 50s.

Thursday evening, we can expect the low pressure system to start
impacting the CWA. This will bring in some light to moderate
precipitation overnight Thursday into Friday morning. Temperatures
will be dancing around freezing, so P-type will likely change from
rain to snow at some point. As it stands, the far northwestern CWA
looks to see the most snow, maybe up to 1-2 inches. We could see
some gusts up to 40 kts if the 850 mb LLJ is able to mix down to the
surface, but 20-30 kts gusts are far more likely.

Depending on how strong the precipitation and CAA is Friday,
temperatures may stay in the low 40s across much of the area.
Thankfully the trough axis or low center will pass by the CWA Friday
afternoon, ending precipitation. Saturday and Sunday look to be
clear and warming up, with Sunday potentially near 70 in some
locations.

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z TUESDAY/...

For KGLD, MVFR ceilings expected from 06z-10z, then shifting to
some IFR conditions(OVC005-008) from 10z-20z. VFR from 20z
onward. 2-6sm is possible from at least 10z-16z. There is a
mixed chance for visibility to drop to a mile or less towards
the 12z timeframe. Winds, south 10-20kts through 20z, then
increasing to around 25-35kts.

For KMCK, low clouds approaching the terminal will shift
conditions to MVFR(BKN020) from 07z-13z, then to IFR(BKN008)
from 13z-18z. Conditions shift back to MVFR(BKN030) from 18z
Mon-02z Tue then VFR. 4sm in patchy fog is possible from
13z-18z. Winds, south-southeast around 10-15kts. Gusts 20-30kts
expected from 18z onward. LLWS briefly(1-2hrs) to start the
forecast 200@40kts.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...

Near critical to critical fire weather conditions are forecast
Monday afternoon resulting in the issuance of a Fire Weather Watch
for Kit Carson and Cheyenne counties in Colorado along with Wallace,
Logan, Greeley and Wichita counties in Kansas. Any fire that develops
as winds gust around 45 mph will result in rapid growth and may
become uncontrollable.

Isolated strong to potentially severe thunderstorms are forecast
along and west of Highway 27 Monday afternoon. The strongest storms
may produce hail up to half dollar size, damaging winds and while
not likely a brief tornado may occur as well.

A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for portions of the area
Monday evening through Tuesday evening. Near blizzard to blizzard
conditions are forecast along with the potential for heavy snow.
Dangerous to impossible travel conditions may result along with
additional stress to power lines and trees.

A High Wind Watch remains in effect for the entire Tri-State area
late Monday night through late Tuesday night. Wind gusts up to 70 mph
are currently forecast. High winds will create dangerous travel
conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Wind of this
magnitude will down trees, power lines, and damage property.
