.SYNOPSIS...
Blizzard conditions in Point Lay will lessen in intensity this
afternoon and evening as winds gradually diminish. Blowing snow
will likely continue along the Chukchi Sea Coast through tomorrow
afternoon. A low south of the Aleutians moves north into the
Bering and brings widespread north to northeast wind and snow to
Southwest Alaska tomorrow morning into the evening. From the
middle Yukon/Kuskokwim Valleys to Koyukuk, snow may mix with
freezing rain then change over to light rain Sunday night. The
Interior will remain mostly dry and warm this week.

.DISCUSSION...
Central and Eastern Interior...
- Warm temperatures likely in the Interior with highs approaching
  the upper 30s and near 40 for some spots from Nenana to the
  White Mountains to Eagle.
	- Some snow melt is likely in the Middle Tanana Valley which
   could create slick conditions during the overnights as
   temperatures drop back below freezing.

- Isabel and Windy Passes will be breezy with gusts of 40 to 50
  mph likely Sunday afternoon through Monday evening. Weak Tanana
  Valley Jet winds gusting to 25 mph through Monday then
  strengthening slightly on Tuesday to around 30 - 35 mph.

North Slope and Brooks Range...
- Blizzard conditions in Point Lay today with conditions improving
  gradually this evening through tomorrow as winds weaken.

- Easterly wind increases tomorrow afternoon and continue into
  Monday afternoon from Utqiagvik to Barter Island. Blowing snow
  is likely where snow is not already compact, but significant
  impacts are not anticipated.

West Coast and Western Interior...
- Widespread snow and north/northeast wind moves in late tonight
  into tomorrow morning around the YK Delta and Middle
  Yukon/Kuskokwim Valleys. Snow will move north/west towards the
  Seward Peninsula in the afternoon. Snow gets to Kotzebue and
  Noatak by Sunday evening
	- Snowfall Totals by Monday morning: 2 to 5 inches from Russian
   Mission to Kivalina, including the Seward Peninsula. Highest
   amounts in the Nulato Hills/mountains of the Seward Peninsula.

- Rain will likely mix in with the snow south of the Nulato Hills
  from Mountain Village to Shageluk Sunday evening. Air
  temperatures will be above freezing, but the ground is frozen. A
  few hundredths of an inch of ice are possible as multiple rounds
  of light rain look likely Monday and Tuesday.

Forecast Discussion and Analysis...
A warm pattern continues for much of Northern Alaska as southerly
flow persists due to ridging which extends into Canada. The North
Slope remains seasonably chilly with east flow and temperatures
below zero. Temperatures will increase above zero as we approach
the middle of the week. Otherwise, the next round of impactful
precipitation will enter Southwest Alaska late tonight and bring
warm air with it. Precipitation will begin as snow, heavy at times
which moves northwest to Noatak by Sunday evening. As this snow
exits, it may end briefly with light rain south of the Nulato
Hills. Northward towards Unalakleet/Koyuk, there is a slight
chance for a rain/snow mix but no ice accumulations. Otherwise,
periods of rain continue south of the Nulato Hills through Tuesday
with ice accretion possible on the coldest ground surfaces.
Elsewhere along the West Coast, periods of snow will persist
through the middle of the week with additional snow accumulations
likely, especially from the Seward Peninsula north. Colder air
moves back into SW Alaska on Wednesday as an upper low moves
towards the Coast from the Bering. The Interior will remain warm
and dry through the middle of the week with breezy conditions in
the Alaska Range Passes and around Delta Junction.

Extended Forecast Days 4-7...
Periods of snow from St. Lawrence Island north/east on Wednesday
and Thursday with light snow accumulations likely. Any rain in SW
Alaska will likely change back to snow, but all of this will be
light precipitation. North winds gusting to 55 mph in the Bering
Strait Tuesday night into Wednesday will persist into Thursday
then weaken on Friday. Near Blizzard conditions are possible in
St. Lawrence Island, especially since there will be falling snow.
A front will approach the Interior on Thursday with the potential
for light snow. Otherwise, a warm pattern continues through the
end of the week with some cooling potential by the weekend.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None.
