.SYNOPSIS...An approaching trough of low pressure will bring
increasing winds Wednesday evening with widespread windy
conditions continuing into early Friday. Cooler conditions with a
slight chance of shower activity for Thursday through Saturday
before a return to near normal temperatures for early next week.

.UPDATE...A chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms will
continue over primarily in Lincoln County associated with trough
moving through the northern Rockies/Great Basin. Isolated showers
will stretch as far south as northern Mohave County and northeast
Clark County. Closed low starts to pinch off over the northern
Rockies early tomorrow morning. Feature will dig south setting the
stage for a very windy Wednesday night and Thursday. No further
update to our products needed this evening.

.PREV UPDATE (504 PM)...Just issued a wind advisory for the Owens
Valley until midnight. Satellite showing a nice rotor cloud over the
valley with Oak Creek RAWS, west of Highway 395 gusting to 58 mph so
far. Locally strong crosswinds the rest of this evening a concern
from Big Pine south into Kern County.

.SHORT TERM...Today through Friday.

A trough of low pressure, developing over the Pacific Northwest will
strengthen over the next couple days as the low pressure center
migrates southward across the intermountain west. This low pressure
center will cut off and retrograde into the desert southwest, where
it will camp out for the next several days, causing a blocking
pattern across the western CONUS and bringing seasonably cool
weather for the latter part of the week and the chance for afternoon
showers for several days.

Ahead of the trough, some instability will develop across northern
portions of the CWA this evening, bringing a slight chance of
thunderstorms to Lincoln County. However, it will be a race against
the sun as the instability will wane with the setting sun, reducing
the threat of sustained convection.

Windy conditions continue across western San Bernardino County this
afternoon as a Wind Advisory continues through midnight tonight. A
High Wind Watch has been issued for Death Valley, northwestern San
Bernardino County and the Owens Valley, primarily for areas south of
Olancha. This watch is in effect from late Wednesday through Early
Friday. Windy conditions will be widespread through this period with
winds gusting over 40 mph (90% chance), wind gusts will approach 60
mph in areas under the watch (75% chance).

This system will bring with it moderate moisture, bringing a few
showers each afternoon from Thursday through Saturday, with the
greatest chance across Southern Nevada and Mohave County on Friday
afternoon.

.LONG TERM...Saturday through Tuesday.

Ensemble simulations are staying consistent keeping the cutoff low
center over western Arizona, potentially as far west as the lower
Colorado River Valley. The low will remain nearly stationary through
Saturday, but does begin to slowly fill/weaken. Slightly higher than
normal PW values across northern and eastern Arizona on Thursday are
progged to wrap back westward into Mohave, Lincoln, Clark, and
eastern San Bernardino counties, lingering into Saturday.

A ridge of high pressure will start to build in from the west on
Sunday and Monday and the cutoff low continues to slowly decay over
southern Arizona, though some solutions indicate that the
aforementioned low could continue to linger over our forecast area
going into the start of the work week.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...Light and variable winds of less than
8kts at the surface will continue through the afternoon before
becoming predominately southwest by evening.  Winds will turn
northwest after 08Z tonight and increase to above 10kts by daybreak
Wednesday.  Gusts over 20kts are likely after 15Z, and the gusty
conditions are expected to continue through Thursday. Mid and high-
level clouds AOA 15kft AGL will persist through this afternoon
before decreasing to just a few clouds AOA 20kft AGL overnight and
Wednesday morning.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...Gusty westerly winds to 40kts will continue across the
western Mojave Desert, including KDAG, through this evening before
gradually decreasing overnight and Wednesday morning.  Gusty
northerly winds to 30kts along the Sierra will continue into
Thursday, likely causing areas of moderate turbulence near and east
of the mountains. Elsewhere across the region, winds will remain
less than 10kts into this evening.  All areas will see north-to-west
winds on Wednesday, with gusts over 25kts developing by Wednesday
afternoon and continuing through Thursday.  Mid and high-level
clouds AOA 15kft AGL will persist through this afternoon before
decreasing to just a few clouds AOA 20kft AGL overnight and
Wednesday morning.
