Most convection has dissipated this evening but a few showers and
storms remain for coastal Manatee county. A Flood Advisory for the
barrier islands has been issued as heavy rain continues to fall
across the area. This activity is expected to diminish over the next
hour or two, with only off shore activity expected during the
overnight hours. A stationary boundary lingers across northern
Florida, leading to a tale of two forecasts tonight. Drier air will
be present north of I-4 leading to overnight temperatures falling
into the lower 70s. South of I-4, substantially more moisture is in
place with PWATs over 2 inches in some places. Overnight lows will
not be able to fall as much and will remain in the middle to upper
70s, near 80 along the coast.

VFR conditions for all sites this evening, though VCTS lingers for
SRQ. This activity will continue a little longer but looks to clear
up by 01Z. Very light flow expected during the overnight hours, with
SW winds increasing after 12Z on Wednesday. Offshore convection
overnight/early morning will move inland by 13/14Z with southwest
flow leading to VCTS for coastal sites through the morning hours.

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 320 PM EDT Tue Aug 20 2024
A frontal boundary will continue to settle southward across the
area this evening, with scattered to numerous storms shifting
gradually out of the area ahead of the boundary. SW flow will
continue through Wednesday, keeping the higher rain chances and
timing more in the morning and early afternoon. The boundary
shifts north Thursday as ridging builds back into the area at the
surface. This will bring easterly flow back across the area with
later afternoon and evening storm timing. This will remain in
place then through the weekend and into early next week. Highs
will continue generally in the lower to mid 90s each afternoon and
lows in the 70s. Heat indices each afternoon around 105 as well.
Only exception for this is Thursday into Friday where higher rain
chances are in place and more clouds will help limit heating.
