An upper level trough resides over far W TX this evening,
continuing to allow for SW flow aloft downstream of it across the
ArkLaTex region. Near the surface, a boundary is draped from
roughly southern TX into Central Louisiana, with another frontal
boundary across the OK/TX border extending into the Ozarks.

With this pattern in place, perturbations within the SW flow aloft
are helping to enhance lift along the sfc frontal boundaries
within a moist and unstable environment. For tonight, expect
widespread heavy rainfall, with a severe weather threat. As of
9PM, a line of strong thunderstorms was pushing across far Deep
East TX into much of Central and Northern LA. Given decent low
level shear and helicity along and ahead of the line of storms,
along with radar trends depicting some supercell-like development
embedded within the line, have opted to extend the Tornado Watch
across E TX and central LA through 11 PM. These storms will also
likely pose a threat for flash flooding as they move east. Areas
in the wake of this line will see a welcomed break in the heavy
rainfall briefly into the overnight period, however, residual
flooding is likely to be present.

Within the next few hours, expect another area of convection to
blossom across southern TX and push east towards the CWA after
midnight and towards daybreak. Some uncertainty exists within the
northern extent of this round of convection, but given where the
boundary is currently located, think this convection will a pose a
threat to Deep E TX and Central LA (although it may stay just
south of the CWA). An organized line may develop within this
convection, causing concern for a damaging wind threat. In
general, despite lower confidence in the convective trends into
Wednesday, confidence is higher in another round of heavy rain,
which will continue the threat for additional flooding. The threat
for heavy rainfall is expected to gradually end Wednesday
afternoon and evening. Previous discussion is included below with
more detail.

.SHORT TERM...

Looks like a couple of rounds of severe weather on tap over the
next 24 hours or so, along with more heavy rainfall. First thing
first...a potent MCS, with a very pronounced comma-head, has
develop across Rusk County in East Texas. This feature will
continue to push in a east-northeast direction over the next
several hours. SPC has issued a Tornado Watch, generally along
I-20 over all of our East TX counties and Louisiana parishes to
account for this.

We will probably see a brief break in severe activity behind this
feature, although some light to moderate rainfall may continue.
However, strong to severe storms will return overnight in to early
Wednesday morning. Short-term progs all continue to suggest the
development of QLCS across South Texas tonight ahead of a closed
trough shifting east through the southern Panhandle of Texas. This
QLCS is expected to rapidly intensify and move northeastward,
eventually making it into our East Texas and Louisiana zones just
south of the I-20 corridor overnight into early Wednesday
morning. SPC has highlighted this with an Enhanced Risk for most
of the aforementioned locations, with a Moderate Risk across a
small portion of our Central Louisiana parishes. All modes of
severe weather remain a risk, including isolated tornadoes and
flash flooding from additional heavy rainfall. We will likely get
dry slotted behind these storms during the day on Wednesday for a
few hours. However, more storms are possible as the closed trough
moves into the region, especially north of I-20 closer to the
track of the closed trough. Hail would likely be the higher
threat, as most of that convection should be elevated. Drier and
noticeably cooler weather will move into the area late Wednesday
night, as the trough and associated cold front move out of the
region.

(Thursday through next Monday)

A dry northwesterly flow will settle over the region on Thursday
in wake of the frontal and trough passage. It's likely a Wind
Advisory may be needed in some locations, as a tight pressure
gradient will make for very gusty northwest winds. The winds will
diminish by Friday as upper ridging moves into the Southern Plains
and Lower Mississippi Valley.T he ridge flattens by next weekend,
but quiet conditions will prevail on Saturday and Sunday. Small
rain chances return to the forecast on Monday ahead of another
upper trough. /20/

A complex of strong to severe thunderstorms continues from Deep
East Texas into Central and Northeast Louisiana. The strongest
portions of this round of convection should move east of KMLU and
out of the area by 10/12z. Back to the west, more scattered
thunderstorms are already moving into portions of East Texas and a
second complex of strong to severe convection may affect KLFK and
Deep East Texas eastward into Central Louisiana after daybreak.
Dry slotting is expected to result in a break in the precip for a
few hours across much of the area, but more thunderstorms wrapping
around an upper trough will move from west to east across the area
affecting all TAF sites after 10/16z. Hail will be a concern with
this activity. The precip should finally begin to diminish from
southwest to northeast late in the period. As the upper low and an
associated cold front move across the region after 10/16z, winds
will become northwesterly and be quite gusty, possibly approaching
30 kts at times across Southeast Oklahoma, East Texas, and
portions of Southwest Arkansas and Western Louisiana.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for north central Louisiana,
northwest Louisiana, east Texas and northeast Texas.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop and spread east
across Deep East Texas and much of North Louisiana this afternoon and
early evening, with the threat for damaging winds, hail, and isolated
tornadoes. The threat for locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding
will also continue across the area this afternoon and tonight, with
additional shower and thunderstorm development expected even in wake
of these storms from Deep East Texas into North Louisiana. A second
complex of strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to enter
portions of Deep East Texas shortly before daybreak Wednesday.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

The heavy rainfall and flood theat should begin to taper off from
west to east across the region Wednesday, although the potential for
severe thunderstorms will continue through midday across North
Louisiana before ending. Damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes
will remain possible through midday with this second line of strong
to severe thunderstorms, with the rains finally diminishing from west
to east Wednesday night with the passage of a strong upper level
disturbance.

Additional rises from recent rainfall will continue to impact area
waterways with crests likely not reached until the end of the work
week, the upcoming weekend or next week.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for south central Arkansas,
southwest Arkansas, southeast Oklahoma and northeast Texas.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

Showers and embedded thunderstorms will continue to affect Northeast
Texas and Southern Arkansas this afternoon and evening, with
additional heavy rainfall possible over these areas. While
diminishing across Northeast Texas this evening, additional shower
and thunderstorm redevelopment is expected through tonight over much
of Southern Arkansas, which may result in a flood threat. Another
complex of showers and thunderstorms will move into Northeast Texas
and Southern Arkansas around and after daybreak Wednesday, which may
result in additional heavy rainfall and flooding over these areas.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

Showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be strong, will be
ongoing Wednesday morning across Southern Arkansas, and may be
capable of producing locally gusty winds and heavy rainfall, which
may result in flooding. These threats will begin to diminish by early
Wednesday afternoon, although scattered rains will linger through
Wednesday night before diminishing from west to east late.

Additional rises from recent rainfall will continue to impact area
waterways with crests likely not reached until the end of the work
week, the upcoming weekend or next week.
