.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will be building across eastern Canada and far
northern New England Sunday night through Monday night, nosing its
way southward into the Mid Atlantic region, while an area of low
pressure strengthens well offshore of the east coast. Winds will be
out of the northeasterly direction for much of this period and
breezy. While it will be dry, there will likely be some clouds
around, especially near the coast, and temperatures will be within a
few degrees of normal for much of the area.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...
The strengthening coastal low is now located over Cape May and
Atlantic Counties of New Jersey and will continue to race off to the
north and east into New England this evening. The heavy rain for the
most part has moved out of our neck of the woods and into the Lower
Hudson Valley region. Just some periods of light rain continue
across NE PA and N New Jersey at this time. Everywhere else, some
light showers linger which will cease over the next couple of hours.
In the end, precipitation will end everywhere by 6 PM and skies will
gradually scatter out during the late evening hours and overnight
period. Lows tonight will be in the upper 20s to low 30s with some
low 20s in the southern Poconos.

Due to slower responding creeks, streams, and rivers, have opted to
keep most of the Flood Watch in place through 8 AM Sunday for those
along the I-95 corridor, Lehigh Valley and northern New Jersey. Have
cancelled the Flood Watch across the Delmarva and coastal counties
of New Jersey. For further details regarding hydro, please refer to
the hydro section below.

Otherwise, the main story to talk about is the breezy & blustery
conditions that will continue tonight. Since, the coastal low is now
approaching the coast, have seen an increase in north-northwest flow
across the land areas. Several locales are now gusting in the 30-40
mph range. As our boundary layer becomes well mixed later on
(especially after sunset), in addition to some cold air advection,
it still looks probable to see some higher gusts up to 50 mph
tonight. This will generally occur through the evening and overnight
hours before diminishing early Sunday morning. Thus, have maintained
the Wind Advisory for all counties in our CWA through 8 AM Sunday.

The forecast for Sunday largely remains unchanged with dry and quiet
weather expected as high pressure builds in from the northwest.
Breezy conditions will persist through the first half of the day but
will decrease through the afternoon. With northerly surface flow,
likely won't be able to get all that warm despite clear skies. Thus,
afternoon highs are forecast to be in the 40s to near 50
degrees.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
High pressure will be building across eastern Canada and far

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
By Tuesday the high begins to retreats, before a weakening cold front
begins to approach the area from the west Tuesday night through
Wednesday night. With a couple of short wave/vorticity impulses
moving into the area within the southwest flow aloft, scattered
showers will be possible through this period.

As we move into Thursday and Friday of next week, the front is
forecast to be slow to move offshore, while another coastal storm
may develop along the front and move northward toward the area.
Depending on where the front settles and where the low tracks, there
could be a period of wind and rain for some areas.

.AVIATION /20Z SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG,
KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas...

Rest of Today...Periods of IFR/MVFR expected through 20-21Z
with periods of light to moderate rain. Ceilings/visibilities
should improve thereafter to MVFR, possibly even VFR especially
further west. NNW winds around 15-20 kt with gusts up to 30-35
kt. Moderate confidence.

Tonight...Any lingering MVFR conditions will improve to VFR by 03-
04Z, lingering a bit longer near KACY. NNW winds around 15-25 kt
with gusts up to 30-35 kt possible. Moderate confidence.

Sunday...VFR expected with mostly clear skies. N winds around 10-15
kt with gusts up to 25 kt, diminishing through the afternoon. High
confidence.

Outlook...

Sunday night-Monday night...VFR conditions expected; there is a
chance MVFR ceilings could develop overnight Monday. Northeast winds
5-10 knots, with gusts 15-20 knots possible. High confidence Monday,
moderate confidence Monday night.

Tuesday-Tuesday night...Sub VFR conditions are possible with a
chance of showers. Northeast to east winds 5-10 knots, with gusts 15-
20 knots possible, especially Tuesday. Low confidence.

Wednesday-Wednesday night...Sub VFR conditions are possible with a
chance of showers. Winds shift to southeast then south during the
day Wednesday, then shift to west and  northwest during the night.
Wind speed 5-10 knots. Low confidence.

Thursday...Sub VFR conditions are possible with a chance of showers.
Winds shift to north and increase to 10-15 knots with gusts 15-20
knots. Low confidence.

.MARINE...
The Gale Warning remains in effect for the Delaware Bay through 11
AM Sunday. The Gale Warning is now in effect for the ocean waters
offshore Sandy Hook NJ to Cape May NJ through 2 PM Sunday and
through 6 PM Sunday for the ocean waters from Cape May NJ to Fenwick
Island DE.

SE winds ahead of the coastal low will quickly veer and shift to NW
winds within the next hour. NW winds around 25-30 kt with gusts up
to 40 kt are likely through tonight. Seas of 8-12 feet tonight. For
Sunday, N winds around 20-30 kt continue with gusts up to 40 kt
early. Winds will diminish through the afternoon below gale force. A
short-fused SCA will likely be needed later for Sunday afternoon.

Outlook...

Sunday night-Tuesday night...An extended period of at least Small
Craft Advisory conditions, possible Gale Force winds Monday.

Wednesday-Wednesday night...While winds could drop below advisory
levels, seas may remain above Small Craft Advisory levels.

Thursday...Winds and waves may both briefly drop below advisory
levels, before increasing again Thursday night.

.HYDROLOGY...
A Flood Watch remains in effect for portions of the area. Rainfall
amounts of 2.0 to 4.0 inches have fallen within the Flood
Watch. Minor river flooding across the Passaic and Raritan
basins in NJ, across the smaller creeks in southeastern PA, and
across the smaller creeks and rivers in northern DE is looking
more likely. Moderate river flooding is possible. Confidence in
the forecast is fairly high at this time.

The sandy soil across the coastal plain absorbs heavy rainfall very
well. As a result, there are typically less flooding impacts. Heavy
rainfall over the I95 corridor is a different animal. With soils
less conducive to absorbing rainfall plus the urban environment,
more run-off leads to increased flooding. Run-off will quickly
bleed into small creeks and streams. Any flooding from the
larger rivers shouldn't get going until tonight or Sunday.

If you live in an area that is conducive to flooding, this is the
time to prepare.

We attach words like MINOR and MODERATE to river flooding. What do
these words mean?

MINOR FLOODING: Minimal to no property damage, but some public
threat can be expected (e.g. inundation of roads).

MODERATE FLOODING: Some inundation of and roads near streams/rivers
are expected. Evacuations of people and/or the transfer of property
to higher elevations can be anticipated.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
No coastal flooding issues are currently anticipated during the
coastal system impacting the area through tonight. The one exception
could be the tidal Delaware River. Excessive rainfall runoff
around the midday high tide could result in some spotty minor
flooding along tidal waterways and tributaries along the tidal
Delaware River.

As the coastal system departs into Sunday, it will strengthen
while lingering offshore. This will result in an extended
duration of long period swells and rough surf impacting the
Atlantic coast. Surge values of 2-3 feet are currently forecast
by Monday. This will result in widespread minor coastal
flooding with potential for fairly widespread moderate flooding
along the oceanfront and Delaware side of the Delaware Bay. Thus,
have issued Coastal Flood Watches starting early Monday, but right
now the highest tide appears to be Monday evening's. Some guidance
has moderate flooding lingering several cycles, but for now have cut
off the watch at 2 PM Tuesday.

Coastal flooding is not anticipated along the eastern shore of
Maryland. However, strong northerly winds developing late
Saturday through early Sunday will result in tidal anomalies
near 1 to 1.5 feet below normal. Water levels are forecast to
reach their lowest point at the midday low tide on Sunday around
1 to 1.5 feet below MLLW. Mariners should use caution
navigating during low water conditions to avoid running aground.
