.DISCUSSION...The Northern Rockies will remain under southwesterly
upper level flow through Tuesday. A few subtle disturbances will
track through this flow pattern causing clusters of rain showers
and thunderstorms for the next 24-36 hours. The atmosphere appears
to be unstable enough for the remainder of this afternoon and
evening and once again on Tuesday afternoon to allow for the
development of some strong to potentially severe thunderstorms.

A low pressure system will slide into south central Canada by mid
week causing the upper level flow to become westerly to
northwesterly. This flow pattern will keep temperatures near
seasonal with the potential of steady precipitation along the
Continental Divide, especially around Glacier National Park. While
the remainder of the region could experience periods of isolated
to scattered showers and thunderstorms.

The low pressure from Canada will drop into the upper Midwest by
the latter part of the week. This movement of the low will allow
for the ridge of high pressure to slowly strengthen over the
western United States. This ridge will allow for a warming and
drying trend through the weekend.

.AVIATION...
One disturbance is currently causing numerous showers and
thunderstorms to move through western Montana this afternoon. A
second round of convection is starting to develop over northeast
Oregon and southern Idaho. These storms should make their way into
north central Idaho and west central Montana later this evening. A
third round of storms is expected Tuesday morning. These storms
will be capable of gusty erratic winds, moderate to heavy rain and
small hail.

Lincoln and northwestern Sanders Counties through 415 PM MDT...

At 345 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Noxon, or 29 miles northwest of Thompson Falls, moving northeast at
35 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 30 mph.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects.

southeastern Ravalli Counties through 500 PM MDT...

At 412 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 11
miles southeast of Conner, or 30 miles south of Hamilton, moving
northeast at 55 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

At 406 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 9 miles west of Grangeville to 11 miles east of
Imnaha. Movement was northeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and brief heavy rain.
