(Today through Sunday) Issued at 326 AM CST Sat Jan 6 2024 Nice weather between systems and only marine headlines will remain for a while today but all conditions will ease through the day bringing about a very nice weekend. && .LONG TERM... (Sunday night through Friday) Issued at 326 AM CST Sat Jan 6 2024 The next cold front will begin impacting the area Monday. This will be a very strong cold front with all the ingredients for strong to severe storms. There will be a few warm boundaries pass through the area Monday. The first will mainly be an 850mb warm front, then the sfc warm front late in the day. There will be sh/ts with ahead of and along the 850mb boundary but they will be elevated. The sfc boundary will have sh/ts with it as well and will be sfc based. Some of these storms look to be quite severe. The timing for any sfc based activity should start around 6pm from SW to NE with the final and main event squall line moving through with the cold front moving from west to east during the overnight hours. This should all be east of the area by approx 4am Tue morning. Gradient winds with this system will be quite strong and almost every headline that could go with a large weather event will likely be posted. There will be storms during the daylight hours but the main hazardous weather will be around and after sunset Monday evening. The next cold front will impact the area by the end of the week. This could be Friday and the system may be similar to the one moving through Monday. But we will handle one system at a time. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1108 AM CST Sat Jan 6 2024 VFR conditions prevail at all area airports and will persist through the forecast period for most area airports. MCB will drop to IFR conditions for a few hours near daybreak for decreased ceilings. Wind shifts greater than 30 degrees will be possible throughout the forecast period. MSW && .MARINE... Issued at 326 AM CST Sat Jan 6 2024 Flags for small craft advisory conditions will fall later this morning and winds will continue to ease through the day bringing about some nice marine conditions for this afternoon. Winds will begin to rise to around 15kt by Sunday and swing to the right side of the compass by Sun evening as return flow will become well established for Monday. Winds will rise back into gales by Monday morning and remain that way through Tue. Strong to severe storms will also accompany this cold front while quickly moving east Monday night. Winds will abruptly shift from southerly to west as the cold front passes Monday night. This will cause a very peaked confused sea condition as this occurs.
