Issued at 1050 PM EST Tue Dec 10 2024 Conditions are gradually changing this evening in advance of a cold front still located well to our north this evening. We did have a bit of shower activity come up associated with a pseudo- warm front just above the surface. This activity has quieted down some, but isolated to scattered showers still persist generally west of the Lower Keys. We remain on the southwestern periphery of a broad expansive high that is centered northeast of Bermuda. This is has shifted winds slight from earlier in the evening with now a southeast wind across the region. This has also allowed for dew points to remain relatively high, in the lower 70s, making conditions feel sticky. Winds are overperforming slightly and did need to nudge up winds to better reflect current conditions. Otherwise, no other changes were needed. As the high continues to slide eastward in advance of a cold front marching down the Gulf coast, winds will continue to gradually veer towards the south by dawn Wednesday. Meanwhile, tonight's sounding showed a narrow layer of decent moisture. This will likely be enough to continue to support partly to mostly cloudy skies overnight. However, shower chances continue to look minimal as the best lift will be on the outer fringes where the incoming low and outgoing high butt-up against the most. && .MARINE... Issued at 1050 PM EST Tue Dec 10 2024 Gentle to moderate breezes will continue to veer southerly overnight as high pressure moves further east into the Atlantic. Southerly breezes tomorrow will rapidly veer westerly and freshen to strong across the Keys Coastal waters in the afternoon while a strong cold front moves across the Gulf of Mexico. A prolonged period of strong north to northeasterly breezes will persist through Thursday and slacken gradually throughout the weekend. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 1050 PM EST Tue Dec 10 2024 A fairly complex forecast for both terminals over the next 24 hours due to an incoming, strong, cold front. South to southeasterly winds will initially veer slowly to the south and southwest during the daytime on Wednesday. By Wednesday afternoon, we expect a sharper veering and an increase in winds as the front approaches the area from the northwest. There is a small chance that a decaying line of showers and embedded thunderstorms could be out ahead of the front, however, confidence is too low to include at this time.
