* IMPACTS...A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 20 
  to 33 knots, or seas of 7 feet or greater, are expected to 
  produce hazardous conditions for small craft. These hazardous 
  conditions may result in poor vessel handling and steering 
  response, broaching, overturned dinghies and kayaks, slips and 
  falls on slippery decks, rub damage along docks and seawalls, 
  swamped bows at reef tract mooring balls, and dragging anchors.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Inexperienced boaters, especially those with smaller vessels,
should avoid operating in these conditions.

Mild and sticky conditions prevail along the Florida Keys on this
early Sunday morning, with temperatures hovering in the lower 70s
at most locations, dewpoints near 70, and winds on land calm or
light/variable. The earlier convection across the Gulf/Bay waters
and the Upper Keys has dissipated, with only a few light showers
dotting the service area at present. Surface analysis depicts a
cold front extending from the western Atlantic across central
Florida and the SE Gulf of Mexico. Aloft, broad troughing covers
most of the CONUS, with the next shortwave of interest for our
area moving east across the Lower Mississippi Valley. As noted by
the previous shift, the 00Z Key West sounding sampled a couple of
significant dry layers, which have likely continued to inhibit
convective development across our area during the night. MIMIC-
TPW satellite imagery does show a stripe of slightly higher PWs to
our NW along the frontal boundary.

For today, the kicker shortwave will continue to move quickly
eastward, pushing the weak cold front through our area during the
late morning to early afternoon hours. This may provide enough low
level convergence to spark scattered showers and perhaps a few
storms, although confidence is not very high in this scenario, as
it is unclear whether the previously observed dry layers will
erode sufficiently. Have retained 40 percent PoPs for today, with
a slight chance of thunder through midday. We expect only slightly
cooler and drier air behind this front, with just a few degrees of
cooling for tonight and Monday returning temps to near normal.

Winds will quickly veer around on Monday and Monday night, with
strong SE flow developing as an intense closed low aloft and
deepening surface low move across the Southern Plains. We expect
windy, warm and mainly dry weather for Monday night and Tuesday,
followed by a quick shot of showers and storms Tuesday night as
the next front moves through. Guidance has trended stronger with
this next front and associated support aloft, and it is noteworthy
that we expect strong low level wind fields to still be in place
when a potential squall line approaches our area Tuesday evening,
unlike the current scenario where the winds collapsed as the
squall line arrived. SPC has outlooked the Keys within a marginal
severe risk area (level 1 of 5) for Tuesday night. Have continued
with likely PoPs and a chance of thunder.

After another quick shot of dry and slightly cooler weather for
Wednesday and Wednesday night, guidance has trended wetter for
Thursday, when a significant batch of moisture may lift northward
across our area with a warm front. Have bumped PoPs up to low
chance (30 percent) for Thursday. This should be followed by
southerly breezes and warmer temps on Friday, followed by yet
another cold front sometime Saturday.

Winds have collapsed during the late night hours across the Keys
waters, with all sites currently reporting winds of 5 knots or
less. However, a cold front will bring freshening northerly
breezes later today, and Small Craft Exercise Caution headlines
are posted for most zones. Small Craft Advisories may be required
for parts of the marine area tonight, and an extended period of
SCA conditions is likely from Monday through Tuesday night. From
the synopsis, breezes will shift rapidly around the compass
during the next five days across the Keys coastal waters, as a
series of low pressure systems and associated fronts slide east
through the Gulf of Mexico. Strong breezes veering from east to
southeast and then to the southwest are likely from Monday
afternoon through Tuesday night. Breezes then briefly slacken
Wednesday through Thursday before freshening once again ahead of
yet another low pressure system.

A weak cold front will be flushed southward through the Keys later
today. As a result, periods of sub VFR conditions, and later with
the cold front, possibly even IFR conditions will be possible. These
poor conditions will generally be due to ceilings, but a few showers
cannot be ruled out. Surface winds will start out light and variable
and gradually firm up out of the southwest through the morning. In
wake of the frontal passage, winds will shift north and freshen
considerably. This will result in significant crosswinds.

coldest week on record for Key West. The average temperature was
only 53.4 degrees. Temperature records at Key West date back to

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the Florida Keys and
adjacent coastal waters.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Isolated thunderstorms will be possible today, with the primary
hazards being lightning strikes and locally gusty winds.

A Small Craft Advisory may be required tonight for the Straits of
Florida and the offshore Gulf waters, due to increasing northeast
winds.

Otherwise, no hazardous weather is expected at this time.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.

Strong winds ahead of yet another front will bring a high
likelihood for Small Craft Advisory conditions to the Keys waters
from Monday through Tuesday night.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected Tuesday night with the next
cold front, with some potential for a few of the storms to become
strong or severe. Primary hazards will be strong wind gusts and
frequent lightning strikes.

Otherwise, hazardous weather is not expected at this time.
