Lavaca River near Edna affecting Jackson County.
For the Trinity River...including Moss Bluff...Minor flooding is
forecast.
For the Navidad River...including Speaks, Strane Park...Moderate
flooding is forecast.
For the Lavaca River...including Edna...Minor flooding is forecast.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

river close to one third of a miles wide in the vicinity of the
gage. County Road 401 is inundated and closed and the lowest homes
in the flood plain are threatened. Livestock can be cut off in low
lying parts of the flood plain.

- At 12:15 AM CST Thursday the stage was 22.6 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 13.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage this
afternoon to 28.9 feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall

headwaters to Lake Texana.

Generally light showers with pockets of moderate rainfall continuing
over SE Texas tonight. Another swath of showers and thunderstorms is
making its way east from San Antonio, and is expected to impact our
area in the next couple of hours. Some of these storms could produce
heavier downpours. Right now rain rates around the San Antonio area
are generally 1-3"/hr with pockets of 5-6"/hr; however, this area of
rain is moving more quickly than these previous rounds of rain,
which will mitigate additional rainfall totals. Anticipating an
additional 1-4" during the overnight hours, which with already
saturated soils, will likely lead to more instances of flooding. A
Flood Warning remains in effect for portions of SE Texas through 6
AM Thursday. Several rivers have reached minor to moderate flood
stage or are expected to reach those stages in the coming days.
Several road closures have been reported across the western
counties, Piney Woods, and Brazos Valley. Continue to use caution if
you plan to travel, avoid flooded roads, and remember "TURN AROUND,
DON'T DROWN."

...Flood Watch remains in effect until noon Thursday...
Shallow frontal boundary from last nights activity pushed offshore,
however moist sw flow further aloft has allowed for persistent
stratiform rain today. Rain rates haven't been impressive for the
most part yet, but at the same time it hasn't allowed for any
improvement in the ongoing flooding across the region considering
the continued runoff. More than 4" rain has been observed north of
the US59-I69 corridor the past several days along with a swath of
6-13" from roughly Columbus-Trinity. Most guidance shows current
activity continuing into the early evening before possibly seeing
very brief lull.
However, we expect another round of storms overnight. Upper trof
axis extending from the Tx Panhandle into northern Mexico with a
distinct vort lobe noted in its base just west of the Big Bend
area. This will make eastward progress overnight. As it does so,
we'll see increasing large scale lift and a developing surface coastal
trof/low along the remains of the shallow wind shift/front
offshore. Look for showers and thunderstorms to develop to our
west as this all comes together and track across the region in the
midnight-5am timeframe. Considering the robust lift, I wouldn't
doubt if some of these embedded cells get on the stronger side.
Question is if any will be able to tap into the warm sector which
is currently fcst to remain just off the coast. This round should
be fairly progressive...but higher rain rates will be a concern
and what can heighten flash flood concerns. Think another 1-3",
with some locally higher amounts, aren't out of the realm of
possibility overnight. Suspect the higher amounts will fall just
south of the most vulnerable Columbus-Trinity line, but even
lesser amounts will exacerbate conditions for anyone already
seeing ongoing flooding. Secondary concerns are small hail & winds.
If any stronger winds are able to mix to the surface, trees with
any leaves will be slightly more prone to fall at lower speeds
than they typically would. Again though, rain/flooding are the
primary concerns...and moreso near creeks, streams & rivers.
Drier, more stable conditions are expected for the remainder of
the day Thursday and Thursday night in the wake of this system. 47

Forecast remains on track from previous package. After a very wet
week across SE Texas, dry weather is in sight for this weekend. A
mid-upper trough will yield isolated to scattered showers and
thunderstorms on Friday (mainly offshore and for counties along
the TX/LA border), with rainfall of generally less than 1"
expected. Temperatures on Friday will be mild with highs in the
upper 60s to around 70.
A cold front will push through Friday night into early Saturday,
bringing some cooler and dry air in behind it. Highs will top out
in the 50s to 60s Saturday and Sunday. Overnight temperatures will
drop into the 30s to 40s through the weekend. A gradual warm up
will begin early next week as southerly winds return.

Continued messy flying conditions are expected over the next 6 to 12
hours or so before some improvements. IFR to LIFR conditions are
expected through the next few hours as an OVC deck around 300-700ft
develops ahead of an approaching cold front. Widespread to scattered
showers and isolated thunderstorms will persist through the next few
hours, then a quick moving cold front will push through between 7
and 11z from west to east. This will be the last "hurrah" of
precipitation for this event with gradually drying conditions
through the morning. VFR conditions will return to the area by the
late morning and continue into the afternoon. Easterly to
northeasterly winds will persist until the FROPA, then north-
northwesterly winds are expected to develop following the cold
front..
There will be a return of moist conditions late Wednesday night into
Thursday morning bringing back patchy fog and possibly MVFR CIGs.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected overnight into
early Thursday morning. Gusty winds and enhanced seas will be
possible within heavier showers and thunderstorms. Following the
frontal passage, winds may reach Advisory levels in the bays and
Gulf Waters. Lowered visibilities will be possible ahead of and
with the next round of rain. Increased winds behind the line of
showers may limit fog development through the rest of the night.
Rain chances will gradually decrease on Thursday. By Thursday
night into Friday morning, the fog threat is expected to increase
again. Another round of fog will be possible Friday afternoon into
Saturday morning due onshore flow ahead of an approaching cold
front. The cold front will finally bring drier air as well as
moderate offshore flow Saturday afternoon into Sunday. This will
decrease the fog threat for the Upper Texas Coast.
