...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHEASTERN MITCHELL AND
NORTHWESTERN AVERY COUNTIES THROUGH 345 PM EDT...

At 319 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10
miles west of Newland, or 6 miles northeast of Bakersville, moving
northeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Banner Elk, Elk Park, Beech Mountain In Avery County, Buladean, and
Minneapolis.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

CENTRAL HENDERSON AND NORTHERN POLK COUNTIES THROUGH 415 PM EDT...

At 340 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8
miles north of Columbus, or 6 miles south of Lake Lure, moving
northeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Rutherfordton, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock Village, Chimney Rock State
Park, Bat Cave, Green Hill, Mill Spring, Lake Adger, and Shingle
Hollow.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
