The forecast remains largely on track late this evening. Showers
will remain primarily relegated to the west in portions of Alabama
over the next few hours before a slowly weakening line of
convection enters northwest Georgia around sunrise. No major
forecast changes are needed at this time.

A potent mid level system is progged to move through the CWA
tomorrow, ahead of a surface cold front. This system will bring the
potential for showers and thunderstorms across much of the area.

Line of shra/tsra ahead of the front tomorrow morning should be
mostly cold pool generated with some support from the mid level
shortwave. The hi-res models do show the initial line weakening as
it moves south of the ATL/AHN metro areas but there will be some
minimal surface instability along with pretty steep lapse rates.
With the line coming through during the morning, before good heating
occurs, the potential for severe weather is low. However, cannot
rule out a few strong storms and with an isolated severe
thunderstorm. The primary severe weather hazard should be damaging
wind gusts, but there is also a threat of hail.

Concerned that additional convection could fire in the southern half
of the CWA during the mid to late afternoon, ahead of the cold front
or on any leftover morning mesoscale boundary. The surface
instability could increase to between 500-1000 J/kg with the steep
lapse rates lingering. If areas south of the Interstate 20 corridor
could break out of the clouds, good heating will likely provide just
enough instability for additional convection with the potential for
strong to isolated severe thunderstorms.

Following Friday's system, models are indicating another burst of
energy being pushed from the cutoff low south into our area for
Sunday, so have 30-40% rain chances to account for this mostly in
central GA. Trends are indicating a drier pattern than initially
expected as the boundary stalls south of our area closer to South
GA/Florida panhandle. Rain fall totals of less than 0.2" are
expected for Sunday. Following this a deep trough pushes eastward
resulting in a tighter pressure gradient and increased winds for
Monday. Decided to mix NBM10 with the NBM to nudge down the wind
gusts to the mid to upper 20s. With these NW winds colder temps will
also flow into the area with lows in the 20s which are ~10 degrees
below normal.

begin to deteriorate after 12Z. MVFR cigs are most likely at ATL
area sites by 14-15Z and likely lingering through the bulk of the
day Friday. SHRA potential also increases by 14-15Z with most
likely time frame for any embedded TSRA at ATL sites between
14-18Z with later times at MCN/CSG. SHRA coverage will likely taper
after 19-20Z. Winds will be SW/SSW at 3-6 kts overnight
increasing to 6-12 kts after 14Z. Gusty winds are possible with
SHRA/TSRA during the 14-18Z time frame.
