likely along reaches of the river along Bridgewater and
Middleboro. Backwater flooding from the Taunton River will cause
prolonged flooding of lower Purchade Brook in Middleboro. This
will cause Woloski Park to become impassable by vehicles for days.
Beware of the dangers of crossing flooded roadways- the water may
be deeper than you think. Floodwaters have the ability to damage
roadways. Heed the advice of local officials, and evacuate if
asked to do so.

.SYNOPSIS...
A wet weather pattern will prevail for the next few days, as a
series of storm systems crosses the region. Flooding is a
concern late Wednesday into Thursday for much of southern New
England. A period of dry weather returns Friday into Saturday,
before the next storm system impacts the region with rain
Saturday night into Sunday, with elevation snow possible. Early
next week, mainly dry but blustery and colder.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Update: 11 AM
Forecast continues with little need for improvement, sky cover
has been tricky this morning, but signs of some partial clearing
under milky high-clouds. There areas are primarily northwest MA
and area of northern Worcester and Essex Counties. Here we
expect temperatures quickly climb to the upper-50s if not 60
degrees.
Latest high-res guidances continues supports rain overspreading
the region between 19z-22z, with the most widespread and heavy
rainfall arriving from southwest to northeast 00z-04z.
Rainfall forecast from the overnight shift still in good shape,
did expand higher values into eastern Connecticut as the NAM 3KM
does show a slight jog to the west. Overall, no significant
changes to the forecast.
A Flood Watch goes into effect this afternoon and will remain in
effect through Thursday.

Subsidence behind departing low pressure overnight has brought more
pleasant than forecast conditions to southern New England, well, at
least in regards to fog and low clouds, as fog has been able to
dissipate a bit across the interior. The exception to this, which
will remain a theme all day, is along the south coast of RI and MA
as well as the Cape and Islands as southwest flow, around 25mph
thanks to a LLJ of ~50kt draped SE of the I-95 corridor, advects
very moist air along the coast, and in turn, will advect fog and low
stratus over the aforementioned region for the majority of the
day. This morning will certainly be a tale of two forecasts,
with some scattering of clouds and peeks of sunshine across
interior central and northern MA this morning! Temperatures will
spike quite quickly into the upper 50s to near 60F, with
reading over 60F likely in areas that manage to string a few
hours of sunshine together.
Improved conditions will be short lived as our next low pressure
quickly lifts from the mid-Atlantic this afternoon and evening. At
first glance, this low has the same appearance as yesterday's, which
only dropped about a quarter to a half inch of rain across the
region, but will in fact have a very different impact on SNE. With
near record PWATs approaching 1.3", more efficient forcing with this
system, with surface convergence thanks to a northward lifting
front, and upper level divergence, combined with efficient rain
processes, like warm cloud depths of near 11,000ft and saturation to
as high as 600mb, will really ring out rainfall between 00Z and 12Z
tonight. The heaviest rain is expected to set up along or just north
of the frontal convergence zone, which has shifted a bit eastward in
the 00Z overnight guidance. HREF mean QPF shows the likelihood of a
wide swath of two to two and a half inches of rain along the I-95
corridor from Westerly RI to Boston, with locally higher amounts in
central and southern RI. The HREF LPMM (reasonable worst case
scenario) highlights a significant concern for up to 5" of across RI
and south coastal MA; areas that are typically prone to poor
drainage, urban, and river flooding. In general, we expect
widespread rainfall totals of 1-3" across the region, with locally
higher totals in excess of 4" possible near the Providence metro
area.
Even the lower bound of expected QPF will pose river flooding
concerns, given a River Flood Warning is already in place for the
Pawcatuck in southern RI. Realized upper bound storm total
rainfalls of 4" would prove to be quite impactful, especially across
the PVD area, which would rival any urban flooding experienced
during our strong mid December soaker. Fortunately, rain will
accumulate over an approximately 12 hour period, which will help
mitigate flash flooding concerns. The HREF fails to highlight any
instances of 1"/hr QPF overnight tonight, and with 1 hr FFG around
2" along I-95, we will very likely avoid any instances of flash
flooding. All things considered, elected to keep the flood watch as
is given aforementioned concerns for River and Urban flooding.
To quote the previous forecaster, "It's important to stress that if
you live in a flood prone area, especially in RI where flooding
occurred late last December, have a way to receive warnings at night
since the greatest flood impacts will occur late Wed night!"

.SHORT TERM /THURSDAY/...
While the worst of the impacts from tonight's low pressure system
will be felt prior to 12Z Thursday, tomorrow is not looking like a
phenomenal spring day across the region. Winds shift to the NE
behind departing low pressure, and stratus, rain showers and drizzle
will linger for the better part of the day. Much cooler
temperatures, thanks to onshore flow off SSTs in the low 40s, will
make for a really raw and unpleasant day for outdoor activities.
Additionally, winds will be rather robust along the coast,
gusting to as high as 25kt, yielding apparent temperatures in
the 30s!

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Key Points...
* Brief period of clearing/sunshine across the interior on Friday
* Minor coastal flooding possible along the east coast Friday
* More active weather this weekend with another round of substantial
rain and possibly some snow for the higher elevations.
Thursday night through Saturday...
Starting Thursday night mid level heights begin to rise ahead of an
approaching ridge of high pressure. This will provide subsidence
which, along with a drying airmass (PWATs below 0.25 inches) will
allow for substantial clearing of clouds by sunrise on Friday. The
exception will be for Cape Cod, much of southeast MA, and even Rhode
Island thanks to NE flow off the ocean which will keep low clouds
around for the morning. However, even these spots clear out by the
afternoon as winds turn more northerly and drier low level air
moves in. Despite the dry forecast, we do expect the potential for
minor coastal flooding for the east coast of MA on Friday morning
(and to a lesser extent Saturday morning) given higher astronomical
tides and persistent northeast winds gusting 30 to 40 mph. Coastal
flood headlines may be needed in the future. The previously mentioned
cloudcover and cool onshore flow will keep highs on Friday in the
low 40s for Cape Cod/eastern MA shore while the CT Valley reaches
into the low to mid 50s. Saturday ridging lingers for much of the
day, so while cloudcover increases ahead of the warm front, rain
should hold off for much if not all of the daytime hours.
Saturday night through Tuesday...
Our next storm system comes Saturday night and Sunday as southern
stream energy over the southeast phases with a northern stream
disturbance, strengthening over the mid Atlantic and northeast on
Sunday. This directs a ~1 inch PWAT plume into southern New England
along with plenty strong dynamics for widespread moderate to heavy
rain. A 55-65 kt LLJ along with placement beneath the left front
quadrant of a 145 kt upper jet will provide ample forcing for ascent
which could amount to another 1-2 inches of rain. At this point the
favored inland track of the low would limit wintry precip to the
highest elevations of the Berkshires and Worcester Hills but that
will be heavily dependent on the eventual track, so confidence is
low. EPS/GEFS ensembles indicate a 60-90%/10-30% chance of AOA 3
inches of high elevation snow respectively, hence the low
confidence forecast. In addition to precipitation, this system
will bring the potential for strong winds given the low level
jet overhead, gusting in the 35-45 mph range. Beyond this a
drier and blustery pattern emerges for early next week.

Variable conditions from LIFR to MVFR across the region as low
pressure departs for the Gulf of Maine. Subsidence behind the
low will allow cigs to rise and vsbys to improve across the
interior, as we are already seeing in the CT River Valley, this
morning, leading to some scattering of clouds across northern
and central southern New England for the first half of the day.
S/SW flow will pin moisture and, by proxy, clouds and fog along
the south coast, Cape and Islands for much of the day. Thus,
expecting a pretty wide range of conditions from LIFR/IFR at ACK
to VFR at many terminals, including Boston, for a good portion
of the morning. Rain showers increase this afternoon and
evening, with VFR becoming IFR by sunset at all terminals. Winds

improvement to MVFR and even VFR by days end.
KBOS TAF...High confidence. LIFR to improve to MVFR and even VFR
by late morning for a window of about 5 hours between 12-17Z.
Rain overspreads the region, heavy at times, for the overnight
hours as flight categories decrease to IFR, LIFR at times. SW
winds become NE. Terminal will flirt with a frontal boundary
around 06Z which may make winds variable for a few hours
tomorrow morning.
KBDL TAF...High confidence. MVFR to VFR this morning through
about 16Z. Rain begins after 20Z and will continue overnight.

Stratus/fog and drizzle across most of the waters again today
ahead of another low pressure system that will bring heavy rain
and blustery winds late this afternoon into early Thursday
morning. SW winds today will shift to the NE behind departing
low pressure on Thursday, with gusts building to 25kt overnight
tonight into Thursday. Wave action will build ahead of the low
and will maintain a sea state over 5ft across the southern
outer waters for a considerable amount of time, thus, SCAs in
place for those waters are now in effect until 12Z Friday.
SCAs in place for the southern interior and outer eastern waters
will fall off today thanks to a period of lighter winds this
morning, however, another SCA will need to be hoisted for this
afternoon and evening for the eastern waters once the current
product expires.
Thursday will yield another day of stratus, fog, and drizzle
with gusty NE winds, to as high as 30kt for our northeastern
waters. Waves continue to build to as high as 11 ft.
