...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 615 PM MDT THIS 
EVENING FOR SOUTH CENTRAL WAYNE COUNTY...

At 416 PM MDT, National Park rangers reported thunderstorms 
producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.75 and 1.25 
inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...National Park ranger reported.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Capitol Reef National Park and Fruita. In particular, Sulphur 
  Creek, Cohab Canyon, and Grand Wash.

Flooding and debris has been reported over SR-

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

.SYNOPSIS...Moisture will remain in place across the northern and
central portions of the forecast area while drying across the south
today. Temperatures will warm late week into the weekend alongside
drying conditions.

.SHORT TERM (THROUGH 12Z FRIDAY)...A near-zonal flow remains in
place over Utah this morning while upstream, a weak shortwave
disturbance is moving across central California. Ample moisture
remains in place over Utah, with PWATs ranging from 0.8-1.1 inches
across the area. Showers with a few isolated embedded thunderstorms
have continued across portions of northern and central Utah through
the night, and surface dewpoints have increased into the 50s and
even low 60s at many sites.

The upstream shortwave disturbance will lift across Nevada this
afternoon before tracking through northern Utah this evening and
overnight. This disturbance will lend some larger-scale lift to add
to the already unstable airmass this afternoon. The HREF ensemble
mean SBCAPE values reach 1 kJ/kg or more across a good portion of
northern Utah this afternoon. While shear is forecast to be a bit
weaker compared to yesterday, a few organized clusters can not be
ruled out ahead of the disturbance. The low-levels have moistened
sufficiently to decrease the threat of dry microburts, but the
stronger storms, especially if they become organized, can still
produce a few strong wind gusts, along with a potential for
generally small hail. Locally heavy rain will also be a possibility,
which could increase the flash flood threat in sensitive areas. This
threat will mainly impact northern and central Utah, as PWATs across
the south are expected to decrease through the day.

Drier air will work its way into central Utah tomorrow, leaving a
pocket of moisture across far northern and southern Utah. These
moisture pockets will have the best chance for showers and
thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise, the trend is for an
overall decrease in shower and thunderstorm activity.

Temperatures remain a bit moderated owing to the moisture and
relatively lower heights. Afternoon maxes are forecast to remain
near to slightly above Climo today and tomorrow, so no heat
highlights are in the forecast until temperatures warm at the end of
the week and through the weekend.

.LONG TERM (After 12Z Friday)...The extended period will have
building high pressure over the area. This will result in hot and
dry conditions into the weekend. Temperatures will get into the low
100s across many low elevation valleys, while in Lower Washington
County and Zion NP, highs will be around 110F between Friday and
Sunday. As this ridge builds over the Four Corners Region, monsoonal
moisture will be able to come up. The majority of this moisture will
lie in the mid to upper levels. This will result in increased cloud
cover across the CWA, while the showers and thunderstorms that do
form will more likely have a high wind threat compared to a flash
flood threat.

Heading into next week, ensemble and deterministic guidance show a
trough that moves onshore in the Pacific Northwest. There is some
uncertainty as to how strong and how far south the trough digs.
Currently, about 65% of ensemble members support a strong ridge that
lasts through at least the middle of the week and continues to bring
in moisture from the south. The other 35% show the trough moving a
little further south and pushing the high pressure a little more
east. This would lower temperatures slightly and decrease the amount
of moisture entering the area. Regardless of which scenario plays
out, conditions across the CWA will be hot and mainly dry through
the extended period.

.AVIATION...KSLC...Southeast winds will transition to northwest
winds between 19Z and 21Z. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will
be possible between 00Z and 04Z. There is currently a 50% chance
that thunderstorms impact the area between 00Z and 04Z. Winds with
these storms could become gusty and erratic at times. After these
storms move through, expect light southeast winds through the
overnight period. Predominantly VFR conditions with a 20% chance
that MVFR conditions could occur due to lowered visibilities.

.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Primarily diurnal winds
expected through the TAF period with the exception being when a
shower or thunderstorm is nearby. Showers and thunderstorms will
begin to initiate around 18Z and last until ~06Z. Winds with these
storms could become gusty and erratic at times. Predominantly VFR
conditions with a 20% chance that MVFR conditions could occur due to
lowered visibilities.

.FIRE WEATHER...A bit of a drying trend will occur over southern
Utah today, while a moist airmass remains in place across northern
and central Utah. Scattered showers and thunderstorms can be
expected once again across northern and central Utah today, and the
low levels are moist enough to support wetting rain, especially with
the stronger thunderstorms this afternoon. Tomorrow, drier air will
spread into the area, but isolated to widely scattered showers and
thunderstorms will remain possible where pockets of moisture will be
in place, currently expected across far northern and southern Utah.
Thereafter, high pressure will build into the area, allowing the
drying trend to continue while temperatures warm. There is a
potential for moisture to return next week as the high pressure
shifts into the Four Corners region.

...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of west central Emery
and east central Sevier Counties through 330 PM MDT...

At 259 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 23
miles southwest of Clawson, or 34 miles southeast of Manti, moving
east at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Emery.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 70 between mile markers 93 and 107.
 Utah Route 10 between mile markers 3 and 18.
