.SYNOPSIS...
Strong low pressure system will affect the area late tonight
through Friday night. Mainly dry weather expected this weekend.
Another system brings a cold front with showers Monday night.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 330 AM Thursday...

A cold front is currently moving into southeast Ohio and will
progress across the area this morning. Ongoing rain will gradually
taper off - roughly west to east - as drier air moves in behind the
front, then dry conditions are expected to persist through the
evening. While skies should start clearing across the northwest this
morning, mostly cloudy conditions are likely to persist further
south. Clouds will overspread the area again as a low pressure
system begins lifting northeast out of the south central US tonight.

Late tonight into early Friday, precipitation will spread northward
into the CWA as the approaching system lifts a warm front towards
the area. Temperatures should remain warm enough for rain to fall
across the majority of the area, though some of the higher northeast
mountain ridges could experience a little wintry mix beginning in
the pre-dawn hours Friday morning.

While temperatures will be above normal again today, it will be much
cooler than yesterday. Highs are expected to top out in the mid 50s
to mid 60s in the lowlands and upper 40s to upper 50s along the
mountains. Overnight lows will then dip down to the mid 30s to
upper 40s across the majority of the CWA, with low to mid 30s
along the higher elevations.

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT/...
As of 300 AM Thursday...

The warm front lifts north over our area early Friday, spreading
rain showers north. Model consensus suggests a band of showers
lifting north, exiting the area by 16Z-18Z Friday, leaving the
area dry until the next rounds of showers and storms arrive from
the north. Adjusted NBM PoPs accordingly. These showers and
storm will arrive ahead and along the cold front around 21Z.
Models indicate H850 southerly winds increasing to 70 knots by
18Z Friday. These winds will pump PWATs to around 1.2 inches
and warmer temperatures ahead of an approaching cold front.
Although under WAA, some of these strong winds would reflect
into the surface along the eastern mountains. Reduced
considerably winds and wind gusts during this period. However,
still getting wind gusts high end of advisory criteria for the
most part of eastern mountains and western slopes Friday and
Saturday. After coordination with our neighbors, will issue a
Wind advisory for the eastern mountains for Friday and Saturday.

Ample deep layered shear and low level helicities will sustain
strong gusty showers or storms ahead and along the front. Some
storms could turn severe with damaging winds being the main threat,
with a low risk of tornadoes. Lightning will be limited by strong
shear decapitating the tallest storms. Most of the area remains
in a marginal risk for severe weather, while extreme southwest
VA falls under a slight risk for severe thunderstorms Friday
and Friday night.

Due to the projected antecedent rainfall, and additional rounds
Friday into Saturday, localized flooding of low spots and low-lying
areas will be a concern, especially in areas that have repeated
heavy downpours.

Convection gradually diminishes behind the cold front, as drier and
colder air filters in under NW flow. Lingering moisture from the
Great Lakes will produce rain and snow showers over the highest
peaks of our northeast mountains late Friday night into Saturday
morning.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 300 AM Thursday...

Surface high pressure builds from the west into our area providing
dry weather conditions Saturday and Sunday. Clearing skies are
expected to spread from south to north on Saturday, remaining mostly
clear through at least Monday.

With cold air in place, expect near normal afternoon temperatures
for Saturday, generally in the 50s lowlands, ranging into the mid
30s highest peaks of our northeast mountains. Then, winds increase
from the southwest on Monday, in response of another low pressure
system. High temperatures for Sunday will be in the upper 50s
lowlands, ranging into the mid 40s higher elevations. Strong WAA
and periods of sunshine expected should bring afternoon
temperatures reaching the 70 degrees mark Monday.

The next low pressure center is progged to track farther northeast
of the area Monday night. The GFS and ECMWF are in better
agreement bringing a cold front and associated rain showers
Monday night into Tuesday. Therefore, accepted chance PoPs from
the NBM through this period.

.AVIATION /09Z THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 1255 AM Thursday...

Rain continues across the area ahead of a cold front, while a
few thunderstorms along the leading edge of precipitation are
now moving eastward into the mountains. While ceilings are
generally expected to remain VFR, brief reductions in visibility
will be possible within storms. The front, currently moving
into southeast Ohio, will continue progress southeast through
the area this morning. Along the mountains, ceilings could lower
to MVFR as the front moves through. Area wide VFR then returns
during the day and continues through the end of the TAF period.

Gusty winds remain possible ahead of the front, then 5-10 kt
west to northwest winds are expected in its wake. Beyond 00Z,
winds will be light with a north to northeast directions.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE AND ALTERNATE SCENARIOS THROUGH 06Z FRIDAY...

FORECAST CONFIDENCE: Medium to high.

ALTERNATE SCENARIOS: Sub-VFR VIS will be possible with
showers/storms tonight. Ceilings may lower to MVFR as the front
crosses through.

At 1216 AM EST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Sutton, moving east at 55 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Sutton, Gassaway, Holly River State Park, Rock Cave, Flatwoods,
Womelsdorf (Coalton), Alexander, Eden, Helvetia, Pickens, Cleveland,
Little Birch, Hacker Valley, Kanawha Head, Ireland, French Creek,
Erbacon, Diana, Alton and Exchange.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 79 between mile markers 56 and 76.
 Route 19 between mile markers 64 and 68.
