.SYNOPSIS...
Weak high pressure brings relatively dry conditions through
this evening. A storm system brings a warm, wet and windy
return Sunday night through Monday.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 325 AM Sunday...

A dry quasi-stationary frontal boundary remains in place just
north of the area today. Surface high pressure keeps conditions
relatively dry today and for the most part of tonight. Low level
clouds will gradually burn off by mid morning or early
afternoon leading to mostly clear skies.

Chances for rain showers return during the predawn hours late
tonight, associated with a lifting warm front.

Afternoon temperatures will be slightly above normal, generally in
the mid to lower 50s across the lowlands, ranging into the lower
40s highest elevations of our northeast mountains. Lows tonight
will range from the lower 40s extreme southern WV, KY and VA,
ranging into the mid to lower 30 across our northern half
including our northeast mountains.

.SHORT TERM /MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...

Key Points:
* Warm front brings rain Monday, with afternoon storms possible
* Strong wind gusts develop Monday afternoon and continue through
  the night
* Rain tapers off behind a cold front Monday night
* Drier, with gusty winds diminishing on Tuesday

A warm front lifts across the area as a low pressure system moves
into the Great Lakes region on Monday. Rain showers are expected
ahead of and along the front Monday morning, then moisture and weak
instability should support continued showers along with the
possibility of thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening.
Strong gusty winds will develop by afternoon, with 35-50 mph gusts
expected to mix down as a strong low level jet moves overhead.

A marginal risk of severe weather has been highlighted over the
western half of the CWA where there is potential for isolated storms
to produce damaging winds on Monday.

A cold front pushes across the CWA late Monday into Monday night as
the same parent low continues to progress northeast. Rain tapers off
west to east following the frontal passage, though a few showers
could linger until Tuesday morning along the mountains. Wind gusts
are likely to persist through the night, then finally begin to relax
once the system pulls away on Tuesday. Surface high pressure crosses
Tuesday into Tuesday night, with mostly dry conditions persisting
into Wednesday before an approaching front brings rain chances back
into the area.

Temperatures remain unseasonably mild through mid week.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
As of 315 AM Sunday...

Key Points:
* Cold front brings more rain Wednesday night into Thursday
* Another system crosses late in the work week
* Cooler temperatures possible late week into the weekend

A low crossing to the northwest is expected to usher a cold front
across the CWA Wednesday night into early Thursday. Precipitation
coverage should lessen during the day, then moisture increases again
as another system approaches from the southwest Thursday night.
While the projected track of the system is remains uncertain, models
show the system crossing by on Friday and then pulling away Friday
night into Saturday morning. Drier conditions should then return
with surface high pressure next weekend.

Rain is expected across the area as mild temperatures persist
through Thursday. Cooler air working into the area could introduce a
wintry mix along the mountains and possibly southeast Ohio late in
the work week, with more widespread snow possible before
precipitation comes to an end late Friday night into early
Saturday morning.

.AVIATION /12Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
As of 640 AM Sunday...

Areas of IFR dense fog developed overnight affecting HTS and
portions of the metro area, southern coalfields and central
mountains. This fog will gradually burn off, or lift into a MVFR
ceilings before eroding by late morning.

An MVFR/IFR low stratus deck evident on satellite imagery,
will gradually lift to MVFR across the lowland sites by 15Z,
and along the eastern mountains by 16-17Z.

Rain showers return at the end of the period as a warm front
lifts north across our area late Sunday night into Monday
morning. Periods of MVFR/IFR conditions are expected with this
system.

Light southwest winds will prevail for the most part, gusty at
times across CKB and EKN during the afternoon.
