Quoting the cast of White Christmas: "snow, Snow, SNOW, SNOOOW!".
Too bad it's almost Easter...

The broad midlevel trough continues to dive southeast into the
Great Basin, pumping ample moisture into the state. This is also
inducing sfc low pressure development in northern Colorado, which
is wrapping easterly flow back around underneath the moisture
plume. This has brought a well-defined area of snowfall across
central Wyoming today, with snowfall observations already
reaching 10 inches at Casper through noon today. The trough will
gradually shift east during the night tonight, right along the
WY/CO border. As the system slowly moves east, the isentropic lift
will continue, even increase across central Wyoming. Noting from
the morning sounding showed somewhat drier air near the sfc, and
observations from Casper noted a finer powdery snow, snow ratios
have been above 12 to 1. Putting these together, have pushed
snowfall totals higher mainly for Natrona and portions of Fremont
County. The other complicating factor is the increasing east winds
tonight. With the sfc low deepening tonight, forecast gradient has
tightened even further, so the wind forecast has been increased
for tonight and tomorrow morning. This has necessitated upgrading
the Winter Storm Warnings for Natrona and southeast Fremont
Counties up to a Blizzard Warning. Peak wind gusts of 50 to 60
mph are more likely from northern Natrona southwest toward Jeffrey
City. Strong winds will also extend well into Fremont and
Sweetwater, so travel conditions will deteriorate significantly
for both the I-25 and I-80 corridors tonight. As the sfc low moves
east into Nebraska, winds will shift more from the north Tuesday
morning. While this will gradually decrease the forcing needed for
snow production, gusty winds from another direction will continue
to exacerbate the near white-out conditions across central and
southern Wyoming through the morning hours. As the sfc low ejects
into the Northern Plains, snowfall will end quickly across the
state, with only light snow possible for the western mountains
into the day Wednesday.

The northerly flow will reinforce the abnormally cold temperatures
across the area, especially areas is fresh snowfall. The good news
is that models are still optimistic in building a ridge across
the Rockies behind this system, both deflecting the active pattern
into Canada, and allowing temperatures to moderate quickly late
week into the weekend. Temperatures mostly in the 40s and 50s will
be a refreshing change for the Easter weekend.

.AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS through 18Z Tuesday afternoon)

A significant Winter Storm will continue to impact the region
through the TAF period. Prevailing IFR/LIFR conditions will continue
at most south central and central WY terminals including KCPR, KLND,
KRIW, and KRKS through the TAF period. These conditions are a result
of moderate to heavy snow and gusty winds with gusts of 30 to
40kts possible, which will lead to blowing snow and vsby may be
reduced to 1/4SM or less at times, particularly at KCPR and KRKS.

KCOD and KWRL terminals will see mainly VFR/MVFR through 03Z
this evening, when conditions will deteriorate to IFR as snow begins
to move into those terminals. A cold front will also bring gusty
north winds to KCOD and KWRL terminals around that same time with
gusts 30 to 35kts expected through the rest of the TAF period. These
winds will lead to blowing snow and could further reduce vsby to
LIFR at times, especially during the overnight period.

For west of the Divide Terminals, KBPI, KJAC, and KPNA, snow will be
more showery in nature and a prevailing period of IFR conditions is
not expected for any of the three terminals. However, brief periods
of IFR conditions could occur with periods of more intense snow
showers. This afternoon through 06Z tonight, is the most likely
timeframe for any IFR conditions to occur at these terminals.

Monday night. Snow and winds will gradually subside by Tuesday
evening. Light snow may continue for the western mountains into
the day Wednesday, but accumulations will be minimal. Drier
conditions will trend toward the latter half of the week into next
weekend, with milder, almost normal temperatures returning.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

Tuesday...Snow and wind continues through the first half of the
day. Snow and wind decreases by evening. Unseasonably cold.

Wednesday and Thursday...High temperatures 15 to 25 degrees below
normal.
