northwestern Kent, Talbot, eastern Queen Anne's, Caroline,
northeastern Kent, Salem, northwestern Camden, northwestern
Gloucester, southwestern Philadelphia and southeastern Delaware
Counties through 130 AM EST...
At 1222 AM EST, Doppler radar was tracking strong showers with
little, if any, thunder and lightning, along a line extending from
Talleyville to Lusby. Movement was east at 25 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure over the Northeast slowly drifts east towards the
Canadian Maritimes late tonight through Wednesday before
drifting out to sea. Meanwhile, Low pressure developing over the
Great Lakes and Ohio Valley will track to the northeast
tonight, dragging a cold front and a secondary area of low
pressure through the region late tonight through Wednesday
morning. Surface high pressure begins to build in from the west,
but another cold front passes through Friday night through
Saturday.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 9:30PM...Light to moderate rain continues with pockets of
heavy rain now starting to overspread the area as depicted by
latest observations and radar returns. Forecast is on track at
this point in the evening. Rainfall intensity will continue to
strengthen through the next 4-6 hours or so, before beginning
to taper off from west to east early Wednesday.
WPC has southern NJ, Delmarva, and our southeast PA counties
under a Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall. There will be
periods of heavier rain, especially late this evening into early
Wednesday when the low level jet really ramps up and enhances
convergence ahead of the cold front. There may be some localized
poor drainage flooding concerns, though with dry antecedent
conditions and a not yet frozen ground, flash flooding should be
held in check. That said, some CAMs are depicting a linear
squall like structure associated with the cold front passage. If
any mixing occurs, combined with the synoptically driven wind,
there may be some enhanced gusts to 35-40 mph. The maximized
forcing with the front may also lead to the more intense
rainfall rates and our best chance to see any poor drainage
flooding concerns. Rainfall totals will range from 1.5-2.5
inches area wide.
The other story through tonight will be the wind. A tight
pressure gradient will result in frequent gusts up to 25-35 mph
inland. However, near the coast, have seen several surface
obs/mesonets already gusting along the shore upwards of 40+ mph
this evening. With the low level jet soon to move overhead,
there is now enough confidence in winds gusting up to 50 mph
along the immediate coast. Thus, a Wind Advisory is in effect for
both NJ/DE coastlines until 6 AM Wednesday.
Behind the front, winds will turn and become more west-
northwesterly. The gradient should begin to relax some into
Wednesday morning but with high pressure bulbing in on the
backside, it'll tighten again in the afternoon and we'll keep
gusts to 15-20 mph into the day on Wednesday.
Won't see a strong push of low level dry air behind the front, so
lingering moisture with modest cold advection aloft will reinforce a
layer of stratocu across the area, thickest to the north and west.
As a result, undercut NBM MaxTs a bit with highs in the mid to upper
50s/low 60s near the coast.

.SHORT TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
With the main cold front pushing offshore, the vast majority of
Wednesday night is expected to be dry. Some light rain may
linger in the most southeastern portion of the area and 15-20
percent PoPs remain in this area. However, with the latest
trends in guidance, PoPs were generally reduced everywhere else
to be 10 percent or less for Wednesday night.
Cold air advection will not be truly underway until that main
cold front passes through the region Wednesday night, and
temperatures will not truly fall off until around daybreak
Thanksgiving. The pressure gradient tightens between departing
low pressure and high pressure building in from the west. West
to northwest winds increase to 15 to 20 mph with 25 to 30 mph
gusts late Wednesday night and through Thanksgiving Day. Highs
on Thursday drop back to around normal levels, and will top off
in the low to mid 50s.
Winds diminish Thursday night as the pressure gradient relaxes.
Lows will be right around normal levels, bottoming out in the
low to mid 30s. Temperatures on Friday will be slightly cooler
than Thanksgiving with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
The long term forecast period looks to have minimal impactful
weather though there will be a few weak systems that move
through the region. First, a cold front will pass through the
region Friday night though model guidance continues to expect no
precipitation in the region with its passage.
High pressure builds in for Saturday with some Cold Air
Advection behind the aforementioned front resulting in highs
only in the lower 40s.
High pressure then moves offshore Sunday. An upper trough then
digs down into the Great Lakes region, and that trough passes
through Sunday night and Monday. Guidance indicates a pair of
surface lows with this trough. One passing to our north through
eastern Canada and the other a weak coastal low moving to the
north/northeast offshore. As a result, continued to carry a
chance for mostly rain showers late Sunday through Monday,
though some wintry precip is possible in the southern Poconos.

.AVIATION /03Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG,
KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.
Tonight...All terminals have now lowered to IFR as of 02Z.
Predominantly will remain IFR throughout the night for all
terminals, although some LIFR is expected especially in the
heavier pockets of rain. Southeasterly wind 15-20 kts with gusts
to 25-30 kts becoming southerly after 06z and ultimately
northwesterly closer to daybreak with a cold front passage. Wind
should subside to 10-15 knots with gusts to 20 knots overnight.
Moderate confidence overall, but lower confidence with regard
to when CIGS fall.
Wednesday...Lingering IFR/MVFR restrictions early will slowly give
way to VFR from south to north. KRDG/KABE may remain MVFR into the
afternoon with a deck of stratocumulus. Northwesterly wind
10-15 knots. Moderate confidence.
Outlook...
Wednesday night through Thursday night...VFR. W to NW winds 10
to 15 kt with gusts around 20 kts, diminishing to 5 to 10 kt
Thursday night. High confidence.
Friday through Friday night...VFR. NW winds around 10 kts. High
confidence.
Saturday...VFR. N winds 5 to 10 kt. High confidence.
Sunday...Mainly VFR. Light rain may reduce ceilings and
visibilities to sub-VFR conditions, particularly later in the
day. Easterly winds 5 to 10 knots with gusts to around 15 knots.
Moderate confidence.

.MARINE...
A Gale Warning is now in effect for all waters through 6 AM
Wednesday. Southeasterly wind 20-25 knots with gusts to 35 knots
becoming southerly overnight and ultimately northwesterly
behind a cold front Wednesday morning. Wind will diminish to
10-15 knots with gusts to 20 knots behind the front. Seas 6-8
feet building to 8-11 feet tonight and subsiding back to 6-8
feet Wednesday afternoon. Will need additional Small Craft
headlines after the period of Gales to cover this.
Outlook...
Wednesday night...Small Craft Advisory conditions continue as
seas remain elevated around 5 to 7 feet. Wind gusts begin to
increase once again from around 20 knots initially to up to 30
knots by daybreak.
Thursday through Thursday night...NW winds 15 to 20 kt with 25
to 30 kt gusts, diminishing to 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20
kt Thursday evening. Seas 4 to 6 ft, subsiding to 2 to 3 ft
Thursday night. A SCA will be needed.
Friday through Friday night...NW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts
up to 20 kt. SCA conditions possible Friday night as a frontal
passage briefly increases wind gusts to around 25 knots. Seas 2
to 4 ft.
Saturday...N winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Winds
become northeasterly and decrease to around 10 knots Saturday
night. Seas 1 to 3 ft.
Sunday...Winds generally from the east, around 10 knots with
gusts up to 20 knots. Seas of 1 to 3 feet.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
East to southeast winds through early Wednesday morning will
increase to 20 to 20 mph with 40 to 50 mph gusts, and this
results in increasing tidal anomalies for high tides tonight
through Wednesday night. Anomalies will be coming at a time when
astronomical tides are relatively low. But even so, water
piling will occur on Chesapeake Bay today tonight, and minor
coastal flooding is expected on the eastern shores of Maryland
with the high tide cycle tonight. A Coastal Flood Advisory is
now in effect for Kent, Queen Anne's, Talbot, and Caroline
counties late tonight. It's even possible a few places could
reach close to moderate levels of coastal flooding. In addition,
spotty minor flooding is likely along the Delaware Bay, tidal
Delaware River, and the Atlantic coast of NJ and DE. Also complicating
this forecast is that any heavy rain falling near the time of
the high tide could exacerbate tidal flooding impacts.
