.SYNOPSIS...
A weak surface front across our area will dissipate tonight. A
stronger cold front approaches Tuesday night and then crosses
our region Wednesday. High pressure builds in Thursday and
likely remains in place through Sunday as Hurricane Lee most
likely passes to the east.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Scattered to loosely organized convection has fired up along
the Poconos/Lehigh Valley/Berks region as well as along the sea
breeze in coastal NJ/DE and is expected to develop inland before
the supporting upper level shortwave moves out north and east
by this evening, taking showers and storms along with it. Severe
parameters look minimal, with modest MUCAPE values around
1000-1500 J/kg and 0- 6km bulk shear of only 15-25kts, but an
isolated severe thunderstorm cannot be fully ruled out. Locally
moderate to heavy rainfall, however, is possible again today due
to the abundance of low level moisture. WPC continues to hold a
Marginal to Slight Excessive Rainfall Outlook. As showers and
storms clear out tonight, winds will turn calm, allowing for the
development of patchy fog and low stratus. Overnight lows are
expected to be in the 60s.

For Tuesday, we will see more zonal flow across the region
during the day ahead of an approaching cold front, limiting
much, if any, showers or storms during the daylight hours. Did
keep a slight chance for some convection, but keeping POPs
around 25% or less. Afternoon highs will be around the low to
mid 80s with mid to upper 70s across the higher elevations. Dew
points will still be elevated, but not uncomfortable in the mid
to upper 60s.

.SHORT TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...
The next frontal system will be approaching from the west
Tuesday night, with the cold front still well to the west with
low pressure over southern Canada. However, a low level jet
combined with leading shortwave energy will result in increasing
shower and thunderstorm coverage as we go through the night,
with good coverage of showers and storms by late Tuesday night
into Wednesday morning. Timing isn't great for severe weather
but there could definitely be some isolated flooding concerns.
Additionally, if there turns out to be a bit more of a surface
warm front than currently appears to be, there may be a bit more
low-level shear to be utilized by storms. Lows mostly in the
60s.

Wednesday, initial around of showers and storms moves eastward
in the morning, with a dry period starting towards late morning.
The front itself will try to instigate new storms in the
afternoon, but lingering clouds and stabilization from the
morning activity may be enough to suppress afternoon convection
somewhat. Highs mostly in the 70s.

Front moves through late afternoon Wednesday, with high pressure
building in Wednesday night into Thursday. Chance of precip
rapidly dwindles from west to east, with mostly clear skies
likely by late Wednesday night and persisting through Thursday.
Dew points drop into the low 50s with a northwest wind gusting
15-20 mph much of the day Thursday. It will feel a lot more like
fall!

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
At the start of the long term, our two major players during the
period will already be fairly close by... Canadian high
pressure will be centered over the eastern Great Lakes, while
Hurricane Lee will likely be several hundred miles southeast of
Cape Hatteras.

Guidance remains in relatively good agreement holding the high
pressure over the region, with the upper level trough over the
area likely to send Lee almost due northward in the general
direction of Atlantic Canada or far eastern New England. It
would make its closest approach Friday night, when winds may get
relatively breezy from the north, then shifting northwest
Saturday, and clouds may move overhead from the outer cirrus
shield. Thereafter, as the storm continues northward, winds
would relax and sunshine would become dominant again Sunday.

This of course depends on Lee being partly picked up by the
first upper trough Thursday night into Friday, then a second
trough carrying it the rest of the way Saturday night into
Sunday. So many days away, its a complex scenario which, while
agreement remains good, can still go wrong this far out. While
odds of impacts other than high surf, dangerous rips and some
clouds remain low, they are not zero, and everyone should
continue to monitor the progress of Lee as it approaches the
region. A shift in one or both trough's trajectories could alter
the storms direction in an undesirable manner.

Otherwise, assuming the storm does progress in a general way as
currently depicted by most guidance, the long term looks pretty
tranquil, as the high pressure will dominate with cooler
temperatures (mostly 70s to near 80 during the day, 50s at
night), clear to partly cloudy skies outside of any hurricane
outflow cirrus, and relatively low humidity.

By early next week, another frontal boundary may move into the
region, but still a lot of uncertainty there.

.AVIATION /19Z MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG,
KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

The rest of this afternoon (through 00Z)...Mainly VFR.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will bring locally heavy
rainfall along with periods of MVFR/IFR conditions. Wind
favoring the northwest 6 knots or less. Medium confidence.

Tonight...Starting off VFR in the evening, with MVFR/IFR
conditions developing overnight. Vis restrictions from fog is
most most likely, though cannot rule out low stratus either.
Variable wind 5 knots or less. Medium confidence.

Tuesday...Areas of low clouds and fog possible for a time in
the morning, then mainly VFR through the day with an isolated
shower or thunderstorm possible. Sub-VFR conditions should
develop at night with also the arrival of some showers and
thunderstorms overnight. Light and variable or northeast winds
around 5 knots to start becoming southerly 5-10 knots. Low
confidence.

Outlook...
Wednesday...Sub-VFR likely in the morning with intervals of IFR
possible in showers and possible t-storms. Likely some
improvement back towards VFR in the afternoon but risk of
showers and storms resulting in shorter-term degradations will
remain possible through the rest of the day. Winds southerly
5-10 kts becoming NW late. Low confidence.

Thursday...VFR. Wind NW 10 kts with gusts 15-20 kts. High
confidence.

Friday...VFR most likely, depending on Hurricane Lee's track.
Wind N 10-15 kts with gusts 20-25 kts. Moderate confidence.

Saturday...VFR most likely, depending on Hurricane Lee's track.
Wind N to NW 10-15 kts with gusts 20-25 kts. Moderate
confidence.

.MARINE...
Variable winds around 5 to 10 knots through the overnight
hours. Waves on our ocean waters are expected to be 2 to 3 feet,
with waves on Delaware Bay at 2 feet or less. Winds remain
light and variable through Tuesday morning before becoming more
predominant out of the southeast around 5 to 10 knots. Small
Craft Advisory possible on the ocean zones as seas may build to
around 5 feet due to building swells from distant Hurricane Lee
as it approaches within several hundred miles of the Bahamas.

Outlook...
Wednesday...Small Craft Advisory conditions likely due to seas
building to 5-7 ft. Winds S 5-10 kts becoming NW late. Showers
and thunderstorms possible.

Thursday...Small Craft Advisory conditions likely due to seas
building to 6-10 ft. Winds NW 10-15 kts with gusts 20-25 kts.

Friday...Small Craft Advisory conditions likely due to seas of
7-11 ft and N winds gusting up to 30 kts. This is dependent on
the track of Hurricane Lee, which may influence conditions
further.

Saturday...Small Craft Advisory conditions likely due to to seas
of 6-10 ft and NW winds gusting up to 30 kts. This is dependent on
the track of Hurricane Lee, which may influence conditions
further.

Rip Currents...

A variable wind 5 to 10 MPH this morning is expected to become
southerly in the afternoon along the coasts of Delaware and New
Jersey. Breaking waves are forecast to be around 2 feet with a
long period southeast swell (around 12 to 14 seconds). The long
period swell will bring a MODERATE risk for the development of
dangerous rip currents today.

A variable wind 5 to 10 MPH on Tuesday morning is anticipated
to become southeast to south in the afternoon. Breaking waves
should be 2 to 3 feet. A long period southeast swell (around 12
to 14 seconds) is likely to continue. As the breaking waves
increase and the long period swell persists, we will raise the
risk for the development of dangerous rip currents to HIGH for
Tuesday.
