.SYNOPSIS...
A cold front will approach the region from the northwest tonight
before stalling out across the area on Saturday. A wave of low
pressure will then ride northeast along the front on Sunday and
Sunday night. High pressure will gradually build into the region
behind that system early next week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SATURDAY/...
A broad area of scattered, slow-moving thunderstorms continue
to crawl east across eastern Pennsylvania this afternoon ahead
of a slowly advancing cold front. Many of these thunderstorms
are producing significant hourly rainfall rates with localized
flash flooding already reported in Reading. As these storms
shift east over the next several hours, the flash flood risk
will follow suit, reaching the Northeast Extension within the
next hour or two and the I-95 corridor by late this afternoon.
Localized urban and street flooding is very possible with these
storms wherever they may set up.

Storms taper off this evening, and it will be another warm and
humid night tonight with patchy fog developing once again. Lows
in the upper 60s to low 70s.

The aforementioned cold front will have largely weakened and
stalled across the region overnight and into Saturday. The
airmass will be destabilize once again with daytime heating, so
more showers/tstms are expected in the afternoon. The activity
will be scattered and with low/mid level winds still on the
light side, severe weather is not expected to be widespread.
Highs will be a couple degrees above normal with mid/upper 80s
most locations.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
Frontal boundary will be stalled over the area Saturday night,
resulting in scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening.
Initially coverage may decline in the evening as instability
wanes, but as a potent shortwave approaches from the west and
vorticity advection increases, coverage may increase again
overnight, though probably more showers than thunder.

Low pressure with a potent shortwave, becoming negatively tilted
as it moves through, will cross the region Sunday into Sunday
night. Strong southerly fetch will advect plenty of moisture
northward into the region, and strong forcing aloft will likely
be very efficient at precipitating it out. Upslope flow will aid
this, resulting in potential for a widespread heavy rain and
flooding event. Highest risk is across northern areas where
upslope is enhanced on the terrain. In addition, enough
instability and shear will be present for some severe weather,
mainly damaging winds but perhaps even a tornado or two,
especially further south across the Delmarva and southern NJ.
Bottom line is that Sunday looks like a particularly nasty day
for much of the area. There is increasing probability of flood
watches for a fair chunk of the region Sunday into Sunday night,
which could be issued as soon as tomorrow morning.

System pushes through by early Monday, but upper trough likely
helps support some lingering showers. Otherwise, notably cooler
on Monday with dew points dropping and clouds possibly breaking
for some afternoon sun. Highs in the low-mid 80s with dew points
falling into the 60s.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Upper trough over Canada will begin lifting back northward on
Tuesday and Wednesday. High pressure will build overhead at the
surface, providing dry conditions and warming temperatures.
Highs will be in the 80s Tuesday and near 90 on Wednesday.
However, dew points look quite low Tuesday, down into the low-
mid 60s, then increasing a bit into the mid- upper 60s for
Wednesday. Overall, however, more comfortable than recent days.
Lows will be mostly in the 60s, with 50s in the cool spots.

Next frontal system then approaches for Thursday and Friday,
with a return of the threat for showers and thunderstorms. Highs
will drop back into the 80s but dew points will rise back to
near or above 70.

.AVIATION /19Z FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG,
KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

Rest of today (through 00Z)...SHRA/TSRA developing across
RDG/ABE and slowly marching east. Storms expected to arrive
across the I-95 terminals by 20Z or so. Localized IFR or lower
conditions, mainly in heavy rain, with 30 kt to 40 kt wind gusts
possible. TEMPO TSRA at KRDG/KABE/KTTN/KPNE/KPHL/KILG.
Otherwise, E to SE winds 5 to 10 kt. Low confidence.

Tonight (00Z through 12Z)...Any SHRA/TSRA taper off in the
evening. A period of VFR conditions, then sub-VFR conditions
will develop in fog/stratus late tonight. Nearly calm winds. Low
confidence.

Saturday...Fog/low stratus will mix out in the morning, giving
way to mostly VFR conditions by late morning. Scattered
showers/tstms possible again in the afternoon with lower
CIGS/VSBYS, but coverage will be scattered. Southerly winds will
be light around 5-10 knots. Low/medium confid.

Outlook...
Sunday...Intervals of IFR vsby if not also cigs likely as
shower and thunderstorms are expected, especially in the
afternoon, with gusty winds possible as well. Low confidence.

Monday...improving to VFR overall, though some MVFR cigs could
linger especially in the morning. Showers possible as well, but
restrictions due to showers are much less likely on Monday.
Low confidence.

Tuesday and Wednesday...VFR under high pressure. Moderate
confidence.

.MARINE...
Sub-Small Craft Advisory conditions through Saturday. S to SE
winds 5 to 10 kt with seas 1 to 3 ft.

Marine fog possible again overnight into Saturday morning with
VSBYs as low as 1 nm. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will
move into Delaware Bay through this evening. Another round of
scattered showers and thunderstorms possible Saturday afternoon.

Outlook...
Sub-SCA conditions expected Sunday into the middle of next week
with winds southerly 10-15 kts Sunday, becoming westerly 10-15
kts Monday and relaxing with high pressure building overhead
toward midweek. Seas may build to 3-4 ft Sunday and Monday
before relaxing a bit mid-week.

Rip currents...

There is a LOW risk for the development of dangerous rip
currents for the New Jersey and Delaware beaches today. Winds
will remain out of the east at 5 to 10 mph. Breaking waves are
forecast to be around 2 feet with a medium period southeasterly
swell.

On Saturday, the risk of rip currents remains LOW. A modest SE
swell around 2 ft or so and a bit more onshore wind 10-15 mph
possible in the afternoon may kick up the waves a bit more and
result in more risk around low tide and locally prone portions
of the coast, but not enough to raise to moderate risk at this
time.
