.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure extended across the Great Lakes, and the
northeastern and Middle Atlantic states this afternoon. The high
is forecast to drift to the southeast through Monday, before
sliding toward the southwest and south for Tuesday and
Wednesday. The air mass is expected to settle off the Southeast
Coast for the period from Thursday through Saturday.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...
A 1036mb surface high over western New York early this
afternoon will cover much of the Northeast and local area
through Sunday.
A weak surface low will develop to our south along the Carolina
coast this afternoon and slide offshore tonight keeping its
associated precipitation out of our area. A thick layer of
cirrus should gradually clear out overnight.
Expect strong radiational cooling tonight as high pressure
situated nearly overhead allows wind to likely go calm in many
spots, and with partial clearing as clouds clear from northwest
to southeast, overnight lows are expected to drop below freezing
across a good part of the area. Elsewhere along the urban
corridor, lows should hold just above freezing in the mid 30s.
Temperatures will rebound quickly Sunday morning and will peak
near seasonal normals in the afternoon.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
High pressure is forecast to be centered in and near our region
on Sunday night. The air mass is expected to slide to the
southwest and south from Monday into Tuesday. The high will
continue to bring dry weather conditions to our region through
the period.
A mostly clear sky and a light and variable wind on Sunday
night will allow temperatures to drop efficiently. Readings
should fall into the 30s in much of our region, so we will
indicate widespread frost. We may need to issue some Freeze
Warnings for a few counties, as well. However, we will let the
current Freeze Warnings and Frost Advisories run their course
first.
The air mass is anticipated to modify rather quickly with
temperatures rising above normal during the early part of the
new week. Highs should be mostly in the 60s on Monday, and in
the upper 60s and lower 70s on Tuesday.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
High pressure is expected to drift from the southeastern states
on Tuesday night to the waters off the Southeast Coast for the
period from Thursday through Saturday. This should keep our
region in a warm west to south flow and temperatures are
forecast to rise well above normal. It appears as though Friday
will be the warmest day of the stretch, with readings getting
well into the 80s in much of our region and a few 90 degree
readings possible.
No precipitation is anticipated from Tuesday night through
Saturday morning as the high continues to influence our weather.
We will indicate a slight chance of rain showers for Saturday
afternoon as moisture increases in the southerly flow at that
time.

effect for the waters off Delaware for waves around 5 feet in
the northeast to east flow. Sub advisory conditions are expected
for the waters off New Jersey and for Delaware Bay.

.FIRE WEATHER...
A stretch of dry conditions will prevail through the end of
next week as a strong ridge of high pressure settles overhead.
Minimum RH values Sunday afternoon will be in the 20 to 30
percent range. Expect full sunshine on Sunday that will allow
fuels to dry out. At the moment, winds look to remain light into
early next week, around 5-10 mph with an occasional gust to 15
mph. By Tuesday, winds will begin to pick up a bit, around 10-15
mph with gusts to 20 mph and RH values still around 30%.
