.SYNOPSIS...
Several areas of low pressure will track northeast of the
Eastern Seaboard tonight through Wednesday. High pressure then
builds into the Mid-Atlantic region late Wednesday and holds
control over the region through the weekend. Surface low
pressure and associated fronts approach for the start of the new
work week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Overall, the near term forecast remains on track, so few changes
were made.
Latest analysis shows the front from yesterday now well to our
southeast. However, a developing low pressure and inverted
trough is just off the coast. This system is beginning to
spread showers back to the north and west, with most widespread
rain coverage expected through 3 AM in southern Delaware as well
as southern and central coastal NJ. Those continuing to venture
out along the shore, especially southern parts of Delaware and
coastal NJ, should have the rain gear handy. Up towards the I-95
corridor, we have both seen on radar and received reports of
light rain and mist. However, as these areas continue to be a
bit more scattered, mostly chance pops remain. Another piece of
upper level energy and secondary cold front will move in from
the west overnight, spreading a few more scattered showers
across the Poconos and NW NJ, which could actually transition to
snow and drop a small coating in spots. Given warm road temps,
even should a small coating occur, do not expect any impacts.
Lows overnight will be around freezing in the Poconos again,
with a gradual rise towards the lower 40s as one makes their way
southeast toward the coast.
Low pressure and inverted trough gradually shifts eastward away
from the region on Wednesday. Have pops slowly dwindling from
west to east through the day, with a wet rush hour likely along
the NJ coast but better chances of dry weather towards I-95 and
points west. Any lingering snow showers in the Poconos also
likely end early. Winds will pick up from the northwest and
we'll see gusts of 20-30 mph as the day wears on and skies very
gradually break, but lingering upper-level energy probably keeps
a lot of clouds around most of the day. Highs will struggle to
reach 50, with most areas likely in the 40s from Philly
northward. Some parts of the Poconos likely won't touch 40.

.SHORT TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
The short term period will be very quiet as the region will be
dominated by strong surface high pressure. Surface high pressure
should be centered to our southwest over or just east of the
Mississippi River Valley Wednesday night. With time, this
surface high will migrate eastward some while holding a firm
grasp over the region and remaining centered just to our
southwest.
No precipitation is expected during the term. Temperatures will
be pretty chilly for the region, looking to run well below
normal Wednesday night and Thursday, below normal Thursday
night, and just slightly below normal/right around average
Friday.
With clear skies overhead, winds becoming light, and cold air
continue to funnel in, a widespread freeze throughout the region
is expected Wednesday night into Thursday morning. A Freeze
Watch remains in effect for the entire forecast area Wednesday
night/Thursday morning (with the exception of Carbon and Monroe
Counties in PA which were cleared from the growing season
earlier today).

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
The ensemble and deterministic models remain in fairly good
agreement today on the overall synoptic pattern through at least
Sunday. Thereafter, there is a bit of divergence in feature
placement, timing, and strength among guidance. Overall,
confidence in the weekend forecast remains strong while there is
not much forecaster confidence for the periods thereafter
(i.e., Sunday night onwards).
Surface high pressure will look to remain nearly stationary
just to our southwest through Sunday, though it will look to
lose strength with time. Thereafter, nearly all of guidance
hints at surface cyclogenesis occurring somewhere to our west
during the time frame of Sunday night onwards. Timing,
placement, and strength of the cyclogenesis differs among
sources. Bottom line, we may see precipitation impact by the
time frame of Monday and thereafter.
Overall, forecast will include no PoPs the for the weekend.
Will introduce PoPs increasing eastwards Monday and Monday
night, capped at chance. Temperatures will look to run right
around average for the first half of the long term. Might see
temperatures run a bit above average by the Sunday night period
onwards.

.AVIATION /02Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE,
KRDG, KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.
Tonight...MVFR cigs (possibly briefly touching IFR) with light
rain likely for KACY and KMIV. The reduced cigs could reach the
I-95 terminals (most likely KTTN), but are unlikely in the
Lehigh Valley. Winds northeast eventually shifting northwest
5-10 kts. Moderate confidence.
Wednesday...Cigs generally improve to VFR where they start out
MVFR in the morning, most likely KMIV/KACY. VFR elsewhere. Winds
NW increasing to 10-15 kts with gusts 20-25 kts. Moderate
confidence.
Outlook...
Wednesday Night...VFR with clear skies. NW winds around 5 kts
may turn light and variable in the latter half of the period.

rain. Winds shift northwest increasing to 10-20 kts with gusts

particularly for coastal waters south of Little Egg Inlet.
Outlook...
Wednesday Night...SCA conditions linger into the period. Seas
3- 6 feet should drop to 2-4 feet by morning. Gusts of 20-25 kts

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
Spotty minor coastal flooding occurred with the high tide cycle
this morning. Winds have shifted to more of a north to
northwest flow, allowing the water that built up over the last
couple of days to push back out to sea. However, that may allow
additional minor tidal flooding along the back bays, namely
Barnegat Bay. Tide levels should be just barely below Advisory
thresholds, so a Coastal Flood Advisory will not be issued.
