.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will dominate through Monday with mostly clear skies.
Low pressure will bring a warm front through early in the week and
then a cold front through during the middle of the week. High
pressure will return at the end of the week and persist through the
weekend.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH MONDAY/...
The cold front is pushing through the region this evening and temps
in the 30s are just to the northeast. Northwest winds continue to be
fairly brisk overnight in the 15 to 25kt range. Broad subsidence
continues to develop over the region and mostly clear skies will
result. Dew points will drop this afternoon into the teens to low
20s with 30-40% chance of seeing relative humidities below 30% this
afternoon.
Winds will continue to wane through the rest of the day as the
pressure gradient weakens. Heading into the evening hours tonight
temps will drop into the 30s regionwide with 20s possible over the
Poconos. Medium confidence (50-60%) in frost potential across
DelMarVa and southeastern as temps drop below 37, winds go nearly
calm, and dewpoint depressions are generally less than 10 deg F.
Ideally, dewpoint depressions would be closer to 3-4 deg F to feel
more confident in temps reaching the frost point overnight.
Heading into Monday warmer returns as the flow becomes south to
southwesterly. Temps should warm well into the 60s regionwide with
even the low end of the NBM temp distribution (25th percentile)
still in excess of 60 deg. There's a small chance (10%) that
DelMarVa warms into the 70s.

.SHORT TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/...
The short term forecast remains quiet with a continued warming
trend. Synoptic scale zonal flow in the mid and upper levels of the
atmosphere will gradually give way Tuesday night to a building
ridge. At the surface, strong high pressure centered offshore will
largely remain in control through Tuesday night.
The result is pretty benign weather conditions. Winds will generally
be around 10 mph and out of the south before becoming more
southeasterly Tuesday night with decreased influence from the high
as it moves further offshore. Temperatures Monday night will be in
the upper 40s to low 50s and then increase into the upper 60s to low
70s by Tuesday afternoon for most locations. Daytime temperatures
will be closer to 60 along the coasts of New Jersey and Delaware
with the southerly wind off the still relatively cold ocean waters.
Conditions will be dry for the most part as well though a shower or
two cannot be completely ruled out for late Tuesday night as the
next system approaches the region.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
With the axis of the building mid-level ridge passing through the
region, the next synoptic low will begin to move towards the region.
The warm front associated with the surface low is expected to move
through the region on Wednesday. This will bring a chance for some
showers and possibly a thunderstorm on Wednesday. Chances for
showers will continue through Thursday as the region remains in the
warm sector of the large-scale system. With increasing instability
as a result of continued southwesterly flow in the warm sector, more
numerous thunderstorms look to be possible later on Thursday ahead
of the arrival of the cold front. Guidance has trended towards a
later arrival of the cold front which would increase the likelihood
of thunderstorms forming with the cold front then finally pushing
through the region late Thursday into Friday.
Temperatures on Wednesday are looking to be quite warm and in the
70s for much of the area. The trend towards a later arrival of the
cold front increase the likelihood of a similarly warm day on
Thursday as well. Behind the front, temperatures on Friday and
Saturday look to be relatively cool, mainly in the 50s. Friday and
Saturday should largely be dry with high pressure moving in though
there is some uncertainty with a low pressure system passing south
of the region. Slight chance PoPs are in the forecast for Delmarva
and southeast New Jersey for Friday and Saturday as a result.
