thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 
and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up 
to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is 
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

.SYNOPSIS...
An upper-level trough over the eastern states will gradually
lift north and eastward through Sunday before shifting offshore.
The next low pressure system will track across the Great Lakes
Monday, pushing a strong cold front toward our area later
Monday. As this low slides across our area Tuesday, a strong
cold front will cross our region. Weak high pressure may then
settle near our area Thursday and Friday, although another front
may be draped to our north.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Latest analysis shows a warm front stretching east-west across
the middle of the forecast area, with surface low pressure
centered to our west in western Pennsylvania. A weak cold front
lies to the west, extending southward from the low pressure.
Aloft, a weakening closed low is over Lake Erie, moving very
slowly eastward.

A very moist air mass is presently over the region with dew
points in the upper 60s and low 70s as of 10AM. One additional
passing weak shortwave is resulting in batch of showers and
thunderstorms pushing into southeastern PA as of 10AM.
Mesoanalysis depicts little shear but already around 500-1000
MLCAPE already this morning as a result of the warm moist
surface and cooler mid-level temps with the upper low nearby.
Expect that this batch of precip will likely maintain itself
with some rumbles of thunder as it pushes through. A weak cold
front approaches this afternoon and the closed low slowly works
its way toward us. As insolation maximizes coincident with
forcing from the front, expect coverage of showers and storms to
increase. These should not reach quite the same coverage as we
saw on Friday, but still expect another day of scattered
precipitation for the majority of the region. Localized precip
totals should not be as high as we saw Friday given a bit more
westerly flow and precipitable water values lowering a bit
through the day. Our emergence into the warm sector should allow
temps to warm considerably, however, with most of the area
reaching the 80s, which will help spark the afternoon
convection.

With forcing waning quickly this evening behind the front and
with a loss of insolation, expect showers and storms to wind
down rapidly, with a mostly dry overnight. Patchy fog may be a
concern where skies clear somewhat. Lows will be in the 60s for
most.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
Summary...Very warm and humid with showers and thunderstorms
especially each afternoon and evening, with it most widespread
during Monday. Some strong to severe thunderstorms possible
Monday, especially in the afternoon and evening, and there is
also some flash flood threat.

A weakening upper-level trough traversing our area Sunday
should still support the development of some showers and
thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and early evening
(not a washout however). The flow is forecast to be on the
lighter side, therefore convection may be more of the pulse
variety, and some guidance hinting that terrain and sea breezes
may be the main trigger for convective initiation. Given the
setup, configured the PoPs a bit more to reflect this idea.
Locally heavy rain should occur as showers and thunderstorms
should be on the slower moving side. It will be warm and humid
with temperatures topping out in the low to mid 80s for many
places. While the showers and thunderstorms should tend to
weaken at night, a few showers may still linger especially
across the northern areas given the lingering weakness aloft.

As we go through Monday, the next upper-level trough is
forecast to be tracking across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley.
The leading edge of this trough may take on some negative tilt
as it closes in on the Mid-Atlantic Monday afternoon and
evening. This would tend to enhance the forcing for ascent into
our area with time. Plenty of moisture will be in place and
therefore it will be humid once again. While cloud cover may be
on the more widespread side, heating combined with dew points
around 70F will result in enough instability resulting in
showers and some thunderstorms quickly developing during the
course of the day. A pre-frontal trough may initially organize
storms near the lee of the appalachians, with the potential for
a few rounds of convection working their way across our area. An
examination of model point forecast soundings indicate ample
instability developing along with steep low-level lapse rates.
The shear profiles are somewhat on the weaker side, however some
soundings show some initial backed low-level flow with at least
30 knots of shear. This would be enough when combined with
strong forcing for ascent arriving for the risk for some severe
storms. Storms may tend to organize into lines or clusters, with
damaging winds and hail the main threats at this time.
Convection may continue for a while Monday night given the
incoming upper-level trough, although the atmosphere will become
worked over eventually with a weakening trend expected.

In addition to at least some severe thunderstorm risk, areas of
heavy rain look probable given precipitable water values
forecast to be 1.50 to nearly 2 inches. In addition, south to
southwesterly flow may foster some training cells which would
enhance the local flash flood threat. The rainfall is needed,
however excessive hourly rainfall rates would locally enhance
the flash flood potential especially in the urban areas.

It will be very warm Monday especially if convection holds off
longer and more sunshine can occur. Heat indices are forecast to
top out around 90 degrees for much of the I-95 corridor
especially, with even low to mid 90s in Delmarva.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Summary...Additional opportunities for some showers and
thunderstorms. Temperatures should be close to average.

Synoptic Overview...An upper-level trough across the East
through Wednesday may then gradually lift out Friday before the
next upper- level trough starts to approach from the west. The
initial trough will keep surface low pressure shifting out of
the eastern Great Lakes to start and across the Northeast
Tuesday and Wednesday. A cold front attached to this will work
its way across our area Tuesday into Wednesday. Weak high
pressure may then arrive nearby Thursday and Friday while a cold
front lurks to the north.

For Tuesday and Wednesday...An upper-level trough will settle
across the eastern states. This will have surface low pressure
with it that moves across mostly the Northeast. A cold front
however looks to slide across our region Tuesday into Wednesday.
The presence of this trough along with increased chances for
some convection will keep temperatures down some. The details
regarding the convection will depend on the timing of the large
scale or even mesoscale forcing for ascent processes, and at
this time range there is lowered confidence on these especially
tied to intensity. There should be windows of opportunity where
showers and some thunderstorms increase with surface heating
combined with a surface front moving through. A humid airmass is
forecast to still be in place, therefore some heavy rain is
possible. The thunderstorm intensity at this range is less
certain.

For Thursday and Friday...The upper-level trough is forecast to
still be overhead Thursday although it should be starting to
lift northeastward. This will take surface low pressure to our
northeast across New England. Despite the surface system
departing Thursday, the presence of the upper-level trough
should result in at least some chances for additional
convection. The chances should be decreasing though especially
into Friday as the main upper-level trough is currently forecast
to be lifting to our northeast. Weak high pressure may then
settle nearby, although a cold front may be lurking to our north
as the next upper-level trough takes more shape well to our
west. Given lower confidence at this time range, maintained PoPs
no higher than the chance range.

.AVIATION /14Z SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG,
KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas...

Today through 00Z...Visibilities have improved and ceilings have
lifted to MVFR and are expected to continue improving to VFR
likely by 18z-19z. However, scattered afternoon SHRA/TSRA may
return temporary VSBY/CIG restrictions, especially to the I-95
corridor on NW, from around 16z-20z. Expect a break in the
precipitation through 00z.

Tonight...Scattered SHRA/TSRA possible through 04z or so then
dry conditions most of the night. Will have to watch fog
potential, especially NW of I-95. Winds light and variable.

Outlook...

Sunday...VFR most of the time, however brief restrictions
possible with any showers/thunderstorms in the afternoon and
evening. Southwest to south winds 5-10 knots. Moderate
confidence.

Monday...Periods of sub-VFR conditions probable with showers
and thunderstorms. Southerly winds 10-15 knots during the day,
diminishing to 5-10 knots at night. Moderate confidence.

Tuesday...Times of sub-VFR conditions with some showers and
thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon into the early
evening. Southerly winds 10-15 knots, diminishing to less than
10 knots at night. Low confidence.

Wednesday...Sub-VFR conditions possible at times due to some
showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon into the
early evening. Southwest winds around 10 knots. Low confidence.
