.DISCUSSION...An upper low along the Canadian border and the
Idaho panhandle will set up another day of precipitation. Rain
will occur this morning with showers and thunderstorms this
afternoon. It will be much cooler today. Stronger storms will
occur east of the Continental Divide. Storms today will be non-
severe but contain some locally heavy rain.

Tuesday most of the region will have a break from the
thunderstorms as temperatures warm back into the 70s. The warming
trend continues through Thursday or Friday, and then ensembles
agree on another trough impacting the US West Coast. There is
considerable disagreement on where along the coast that trough
will come ashore and how fast it will be going, but there is
general agreement that it will still be near average or warmer
even under the influence of the next trough. This is a good set up
for thunderstorms once again.

.AVIATION...Showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms will
occur at all terminals from 22/1200z through 23/0100z. Low
visibility, heavy rain and mountain obscurations will occur in the
vicinity of storms. Precipitation will end this evening and clouds
will diminish by 23/1200z.

...Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of southeastern
Missoula, south central Lake, northern Granite, northeastern Ravalli
and western Powell Counties through NOON MDT...

At 1105 AM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 7 miles northeast of Arlee to 17 miles east of
Stevensville. Movement was east at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and half-inch size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Drummond, Ovando, Bonner-West Riverside, Seeley Lake, Garrison,
Evaro, Nimrod, Jens, Brock Creek, Potomac, New Chicago, Clearwater,
Bearmouth, Quigley, Clinton, Turah, Garnet, Helmville, Goldcreek and
Hall.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 90 between mile markers 109 and 171.
 Highway 83 between mile markers 0 and 27.
 Highway 200 E between mile markers 0 and 51.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

If on or near Seeley Lake, Placid Lake, Salmon Lake , get out of the
water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can
strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to
safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.

Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
these storms pass.

eastern Ravalli, northwestern Silver Bow and south central Powell
Counties through 1215 PM MDT...

At 1120 AM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 18 miles northwest of Philipsburg to 15 miles
north of Gibbonsville. Movement was northeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and half-inch size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Deer Lodge, Anaconda, Philipsburg, Warm Springs, Galen, Gregson Hot
Springs, Garrison, West Valley, Maxville, Princeton, Crackerville,
Fishtrap, Racetrack, Sula, Porters Corner, Skalkaho Pass, Lost Creek,
Opportunity and Georgetown.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 90 between mile markers 172 and 184, and between mile
markers 186 and 209.
 Highway 12 Garrison to MacDonald Pass between mile markers 0 and 3.
 Highway 93 S between mile markers 5 and 17.

At 1200 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 13 miles northeast of Seeley Lake to 11 miles
northeast of Philipsburg. Movement was northeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Drummond, Ovando, Seeley Lake, Garrison, Finn, Jens, Brock Creek, New
Chicago, Clearwater, Bearmouth, Avon, Garnet, Helmville, Goldcreek,
Blossburg, Hall, Greenough and Woodworth.
