This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest North
Carolina...east Tennessee and southwest Virginia.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Hot temperatures can be expected today, with a heat index reaching
between 100 and 105 in the southern and central portions of the
Tennessee Valley this afternoon.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

Friday will be slightly hotter than today, especially south of
Interstate 40 where heat index values will reach near to even
above 105 degrees in most of the southern Tennessee Valley.

Also, a few storms are possible on Friday, mainly north of
Interstate 40 during the late afternoon and evening, some of which
could be strong to severe. Isolated damaging wind gusts are the
main concern with these storms. Saturday will remain hot with heat
index values reaching 100 degrees or higher in the southern and
central Tennessee Valley.

At 116 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles northeast of Maynardville, moving south at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.
