Flood Warning for the following rivers in Minnesota...

  Redwood River near Redwood Falls affecting Redwood County.

...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity and 
increased in duration for the following rivers in Minnesota...

  Cottonwood River at New Ulm affecting Brown County.

...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity for the 
following rivers in Minnesota...

  Minnesota River at Morton affecting Renville and Redwood Counties.

.Rainfall from this morning in addition to what will fall over the 
rest of today will likely lead to further increases in river levels, 
with several downstream points along the Minnesota River likely 
entering flood stage over the next 3 days. For now, the warnings 
continue upstream with the quick response from the Redwood resulting 
in an upgrade to a warning early.

Should the forecast proceed as expected, a few other points 
downstream in the mainstem Minnesota River will be upgraded over the 
next couple days.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in 
Minnesota...

  Redwood River near Redwood Falls affecting Redwood County.

.Accumulating rainfall has occurred across southern Minnesota Friday 
night into this evening. Totals so far have reached 2 to even 4 plus 
inches in some localized areas with additional rainfall expected 
tonight. This has caused river levels in this region to rapidly 
rise. Crests should occur within the next few days before a dry 
pattern this coming week allows for rivers to decrease again.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in 
Minnesota...

  Minnesota River at Morton affecting Redwood and Renville Counties.

  Minnesota River at Montevideo affecting Lac qui Parle, Chippewa 
  and Yellow Medicine Counties.

.Heavy rainfall from Wednesday through Saturday night has resulted 
in flooding along the Minnesota River and many of its tributaries, 
especially from the Cottonwood River downstream to the Mississippi 
River. Totals over the last 5 days have ranged from 3 to 7 plus 
inches across much of south central and southwest Minnesota. This 
has caused area rivers to rapidly rise. Crests should occur within 
the next few days before a dry pattern this coming week allows for 
rivers to decrease again.

  flood impacts.)

.Rivers continue to be swollen due to rainfall over the last 5 days, 
with continued rises on the mainstem Minnesota and Mississippi. A 
few of the quick-reacting rivers have already or are close to 
cresting and will steadily begin dropping off over the coming days, 
with the Redwood River at Redwood Falls already in Action Stage. Dry 
conditions are expected until Wednesday to Thursday this week with a 
small event, thus we expect river levels to continue dropping once 
the crests occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

KEY MESSAGES:

- Rounds of heavy rain across southern Minnesota could bring flash
  flooding through tonight.

- A few severe storms are also possible across southern Minnesota
  this afternoon and evening.

- Drier conditions return for most of next week, but a sharp trough
  late week could bring additional chances for showers and storms.

An arc of showers and thunderstorms, that used to be yesterday's
tornadoes in Nebraska, has lifted north into southwestern MN early
this morning. Another band of scattered light showers is located
along and just to the north of I-94. The southern band does bring
some potential concerns this morning before it weakens, the first
being flooding. 3-hr NCRFC flash flood guidance in this area remains
1 to 2 inches. The band is not too progressive and individual cells
are tracking northwest within the larger area of rain. This is
resulting in some training. PWATs in this area range from 1.2-1.4
inches and there are no dry air layers in the column. It won't take
much to drop at least an inch per hour with this situation and it
won't take much more than that to reach flash flood guidance. Bumped
up the start time of the Flood Watch to right now to account for
early morning potential. The other concern through sunrise is for a
couple severe storms. MUCAPE on the order of about 1000 J/kg extends
northward to near Redwood Falls. Effective shear in northwestern IA
has reached 35 kts and may strengthen in a few hours to 40 kts across
far southern MN. This could result in a few elevated supercells
developing toward the southern or back end of the band of showers and
storms. One such potential storm has recently developed in Humboldt
County, IA. The main threat this morning will be large hail. The
ongoing activity should wane before it reaches central MN.

An upper low currently over NE will slow its northward progression
and then stall and weaken over southwestern MN later today and
tonight. Additional convection will develop as early as later this
morning across southwestern MN, which will then inch northward around
the slowing low through tonight while building east across the
remainder of southern MN. Training convection continues to appear
likely within a very supportive environment of heavy rates.
Widespread 2 to 3 inches still appears likely, with several inches
locally where training is most persistent. HREF LPMM continues to
highlight pockets of 5-6"+ south of the MN River in southwest MN and
across the southern two tiers of counties in south central MN. If
these numbers materialize, potentially significant flash flooding
could result. Another round of river flooding is already being
forecast along the Minnesota.

Later today and this evening there could be a few supercells on the
southern fringes of the larger area of showers and storms. This would
occur closer to the IA border. All hazards would be possible should
they become surface-based, including tornadoes.

Much drier air begins to work in Sunday as the low shears out and
sinks south. There may be a few lingering showers across the south
early in the morning, but skies should clear relatively quickly
through the day. Temperatures through early week will be above
normal.

A backdoor cold front still looks like it may produce a shower or
two north of I-94 Tuesday. However, a stronger trough late week will
bring a better chance for rain and cooler temps.

A band of showers and embedded thunderstorms from west central to
south central MN continues with no signs of weakening yet. Believe
it will still weaken during the next few hours and should only impact
RWF and MKT. Lighter showers extend along and just north of I-94
impacting the rest of the TAF sites except MSP, which should also
slowly weaken with time. Showers and storms will redevelop across
southern MN later this morning and afternoon, then persist through
much of the night.

KMSP...Currently sandwiched between two areas of showers which
should continue to be the case through the period. May see a few
showers develop north of the more robust stuff to the south tonight,
so continued the prob30.
