A large upper level low pressure will be moving east across the Four
Corners area of the southwest CONUS through the short term
period, which will result in slight shortwave ridging in the
general southwesterly flow aloft over our area. At the surface,
high pressure centered over the Ohio Valley area today will drift
east to the Appalachian Mountains or even the Mid- Atlantic coast
area by end of the day Thursday. This pattern will maintain the
dry and somewhat cool weather for our area through the near term
period. No rain is expected, but some mid to high level clouds at
times are possible in the southwesterly flow aloft. A light to
occasionally moderate northeasterly surface flow today and tonight
becomes a little more easterly on Thursday as the surface high to
the north of our area shifts east, otherwise no changes through
the period. Daytime highs both today and Thursday primarily in the
lower 60s, with lows tonight ranging from the upper 30s and lower
40s well inland to the mid and upper 40s closer to the coast. A
HIGH Risk of rip currents along area beaches is expected today
through at least Friday night and likely even persisting into the
