Starting Tonight...

Cold front has moved into Lake and Volusia counties this morning,
but will lift back northward today as low pressure over the NE Gulf
lifts northeast, and will eventually push a cold front through the
region into tonight. Ahead of this front a developing breezy
southerly flow will occur across the area, warming up temperatures
back into the low to mid 80s, especially with skies starting off
mostly to partly sunny across much of the area. Moisture will
continue to increase as well, with PW values up to 1.4-1.5" later
today. The threat for strong to isolated severe storms still
exists across the area, mainly toward mid afternoon and into this
evening. Prior to that time, hi-res guidance indicates rain
chances will remain low. Showers and storms look to initially
develop along an inland moving west coast sea breeze this
afternoon. Then, increasing convective coverage occurring near the
east central FL coast late this afternoon and toward sunset where
sea breeze interactions may occur, as guidance indicates the east
coast sea breeze may be able to develop and move slightly inland,
stalling near to just east of I-95. Additional wave of showers
and storms will then sweep across the area into this evening along
and ahead of the cold front.

Increasing southwest winds aloft into late afternoon and evening,
will increase shear profiles, and could lead to some stronger
storms producing strong to locally damaging wind gusts of 40-60
mph, and potential for a tornado or two. The greatest threat for
severe weather will exist across northern portions of east central
FL from mid afternoon through this evening where winds aloft will
be strongest. Storms Prediction Center continues a Slight Risk
for severe weather across extreme northern Lake and northwest
Volusia counties, with a Marginal Risk for severe weather
extending southward to a Titusville-Lake Kissimmee line. While
probability remains low, if the east coast sea breeze can form and
push slightly inland along the coast, then storms that interact
or develop with late day sea breeze collision could exhibit some
rotation, that could lead to a funnel cloud or brief tornado
immediately along the coast before these storms move quickly
offshore. However, again the highest potential for any isolated
tornado development remains across north to north central FL.

Today-Tonight...(Modified Previous Discussion) A long period ENE
swell between 12-14 seconds continues across the local waters.
This will create hazardous conditions around inlets at high tide
again near mid afternoon into early-mid evening. A strong low
pressure system approaches the area through the day with strong
frontal passage this evening/overnight.

The pressure gradient tightens quickly this afternoon/tonight as
southerly winds veer to SW/WSW overnight. Wind speeds 10-15 kts will
increase this afternoon to 15-20 kts near shore and 20-25 kts
offshore. A Small Craft Advisory goes into effect offshore at
21Z/4PM and near shore at 03Z/10PM. A Gale Watch has also been
issued and goes into effect offshore at 03Z. Confidence is "high"
that the dayshift will upgrade this to a Gale "Warning" as winds
continue to increase tonight to 20-25 kts near shore and 25-30 kts
offshore with frequent higher gusts. Initial seas of 3-4 ft near
shore and 4-5 ft offshore will build to 4-5 ft areawide by late
afternoon, then continue to build further overnight-sunrise Sun
morning, 4-6 ft near shore and 6-9 ft offshore.

Isolated showers/lightning storms this morning, especially Gulf
Stream, increasing in coverage (pre-frontal) to SCT (Cape northward)
thru sunset, ISOLD-WDLY SCT southward. The offshore moving showers
and storms, increase areawide into this evening/overnight. Expect
cell motion from SW to NE at 35 to 45 kts. Threats include
occasional to frequent cloud to water strikes, torrential downpours,

IFR/MVFR cigs have moved into northern Lake and Volusia counties
with a cold front, but this boundary should lift back northward as
low pressure over the NE Gulf of Mexico shifts northeast. This
should lead to VFR conditions area-wide this afternoon, with
showers and storms, some which may become strong to severe moving
through the area ahead of an approaching cold front toward mid-
afternoon and into this evening.

Tempo IFR/MVFR conditions will occur with any convection,
with storm threats including lightning, gusty winds, torrential
downpours, small hail, and possible tornado. Winds will veer
SW/WSW this evening/overnight surrounding the boundary. Winds also
become quite gusty post-frontal after midnight and toward sunrise
Sun across ECFL. For Sun, windy/gusty conditions with WSW/W winds
post-frontal and a very tight pgrad over the area.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

.THUNDERSTORM IMPACT...
A strong cold front will approach central Florida later today,
with strong to isolated severe storms possible late this
afternoon and evening, as the front passes through east central
Florida overnight. The greatest threat of severe weather will
be near to north of a Titusville to Kissimmee line.

The strongest storms will be capable of producing frequent
lightning strikes, strong to locally damaging winds gusts between
40 to 60 mph, locally heavy rainfall, and small hail. A tornado or
two may also be possible, with the greatest chance occurring
across northern portions of east central Florida. However, can't
completely rule out the potential for funnel clouds or a brief
tornado developing along the east central Florida coast, due to
the potential of sea breeze interactions late this afternoon and
through sunset.

.HIGH WIND IMPACT...
Southerly winds will increase ahead of an approaching strong cold
front. Expect wind speeds along the barrier islands and immediate
Space and Treasure coasts to approach 20 to 25 mph sustained with
frequent higher gusts in the afternoon.

.RIP CURRENT IMPACT...
A long period ocean swell will produce a High risk of life-
threatening rip currents at all central Florida Atlantic beaches.
While rip currents will be present all day, they are most likely
between 230 PM and 830 PM due to tidal effects. Entering the surf
is not advised.

.MARINE THUNDERSTORM GUST IMPACT...
There will be an increasing potential for fast-moving showers and
isolated to scattered storms pushing offshore and preceding a
strong cold front late this afternoon and evening. Some strong to
isolated severe storms will be possible with wind gusts to 34
knots south of the Cape and potentially 40 to 50 knots from the
Cape northward.

.WATERSPOUT IMPACT...
Marine interests should also be alert for the potential for
isolated waterspouts late this afternoon and into tonight,
especially with any offshore moving storms.

.WIND AND SEA IMPACT...
A long period east-northeast swell will continue to produce
hazardous conditions at inlets during the outgoing tide early this
morning, and again from mid afternoon through early evening.

In addition, southerly winds will increase across the local
waters this afternoon to 15 to 20 knots near shore and 20 to 25
knots offshore with higher gusts. Tonight, winds veer to southwest
late and continue to increase to 20 to 25 knots near shore and 25
to 30 knots offshore. Occasional gusts to Gale Force will be
possible near shore overnight and frequent gusts to Gale Force
offshore. Small Craft Advisories will go into effect late today
and the potential for Gale Warnings, offshore, later this evening
through the overnight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.
Windy conditions will exist on Sunday as the pressure gradient
tightens behind the latest strong cold front. Expect westerly
winds to increase across much of east central Florida to around
25 mph sustained with frequent higher gusts to 30 to 35 mph. A
Wind Advisory may be necessary. This will also increase fire
sensitivity for any ongoing or new brush fires.

Overnight lows will fall into the low to middle 40s across the
interior Sunday overnight into Monday morning. Westerly winds will
remain elevated into the evening and overnight with lowest wind
chills after midnight and toward sunrise in the middle to upper
30s across north Lake County and much of Volusia County.

Boating conditions will be hazardous to potentially very hazardous
across the local coastal waters through Sunday night, and
remaining poor to hazardous into early next week.

The rip current risk will be Moderate along area beaches on
Sunday.

Spotters should monitor the weather and self activate if needed,
especially near and north of the I-4 corridor or along the east
central Florida coast for late this afternoon and into the
evening.
