  shorelines and tidal waterways. For the High Surf Advisory, 
  large breaking waves of 7 to 10 feet in the surf zone.

* WHERE...Northern Outer Banks and Hatteras Island.

* WHEN...For the Beach Hazards Statement, through Friday 
  evening. For the Coastal Flood Warning, until noon EDT Friday. 
  For the High Surf Advisory, until midnight EDT Friday night.

* IMPACTS...Up to 2 to 3 feet of inundation above ground level 
  is possible in some areas near shorelines and tidal waterways 
  resulting in a significant threat to life and property. Some 
  roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, 
  lawns, and homes adjacent to the waterfront will experience 
  shallow flooding. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions 
  and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the 
  best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Dangerous 
  shore break can throw a swimmer or surfer head first into the 
  bottom causing neck and back injuries. Strong longshore 
  currents will create dangerous swimming conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If
travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through
water of unknown depth.

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.

Life-threatening rip currents. If caught in a rip current, remain
calm. Swim in a direction following the shoreline. If tired,
float or tread water until out of the rip current. If unable to
escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

Shore break occurs when waves break directly on the beach. It is
extremely important to protect your head and neck whenever you
are in breaking waves by keeping your hands in front of you at
all times.

Strong longshore currents can sweep swimmers and surfers into rip
currents, piers, jetties and other hazardous areas. In many
cases, the longshore current is strong enough to prevent swimmers
from being able to keep their feet on the bottom making it

unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.

Life-threatening rip currents. If caught in a rip current, remain
calm. Swim in a direction following the shoreline. If tired,
float or tread water until out of the rip current. If unable to
escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. 

Shore break occurs when waves break directly on the beach. It is
extremely important to protect your head and neck whenever you
are in breaking waves by keeping your hands in front of you at
all times.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents.

* WHERE...Ocracoke Island and Core Banks beaches.

* WHEN...Through Saturday evening.

* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away 
  from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The most likely time for strong rip
  currents to occur is a couple hours either side of low tide,
  which will occur around 4 PM Saturday.

.SYNOPSIS...
The remnants of Tropical Cyclone Idalia will continue to slowly
weaken and move away from the area through this weekend as dry
high pressure builds over the area. The high will persist well
into next week bringing a prolonged period of dry pleasant
conditions.

.NEAR TERM /Through Tonight/...
As of 745 PM Thu...Rain has moved off the OBX with clearing
line quickly following, owing to a pleasant albeit breezy
evening for the coast. Winds will slowly cont to diminish
through the overnight as remnants of Idalia cont to move well
offshore.

Prev disc... As of 445 PM Thu...The remnants of Tropical
Cyclone Idalia are currently about 165 miles SE of Cape
Hatteras, NC, moving East around 20 mph. The remnants will
continue to move East off the NC coast tonight then turn ESE and
slow it's forward speed on Fri and Sat. Impacts across eastern
NC will lessen significantly tonight as the storm weakens and
moves away. The main impacts tonight will be gusty winds along
the coast this evening, and coastal flooding on this evenings
high tide. No additional flooding issues from rainfall or from
winds inland are expected. All Tropical Storm Warnings have now
been discontinued.

Remaining impacts tonight:

1) Coastal Flooding: Strong Northeast winds will produce minor
flooding of 1-3 ft inundation of water above dry ground
adjacent to the Pungo, Pamlico, Bay, and Neuse Rivers. Minor
coastal flooding of 1-3 ft above dry ground will also occur
this evening over down-east Carteret county adjacent to the
Pamlico Sound.

This evening 2-3 ft of inundation off the Atlantic Ocean will
result in beach erosion and ocean overwash along the Outer
Banks, especially north of Cape Hatteras where portions of
Highway 12 could become impassable, especially during this
evenings high tide.

2) Winds: Strong northerly winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to
40 mph will persist this evening from down-east Carteret county
to the Outer Banks. The winds are forecast to diminish by late
evening as the storm continues to weaken and pull away from the
area.

As the remnants of Idalia weaken and pull away from the area
tonight, high pressure will build in from the north bringing dry
and cooler conditions to eastern NC. Any lingering light
precipitation will dissipate by early this evening and skies
will clear. Winds will also diminish. Expecting cool overnight
lows with inland locations dropping into the upper 50s to lower
60s, with mid to upper 60s expected along the coast.

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY/...
As of 445 PM Thu...High pressure will continue to build over
the area Fri producing dry conditions with sunny skies, pleasant
temps, and comfortable humidity. Highs will be around 80.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...
As of 3 AM Thu...Cooler high pressure will build in from the
west this weekend well into next week, with very pleasant
weather on tap for eastern NC. High pressure overhead, dry PoPs
and warming trend through the period. Highs in the low 80s Sat,
gradually warming back into the upper 80s to low 90s early next
week.

.AVIATION /00Z FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
SHORT TERM /through Friday/...
As of 745 PM Thu...Improving conditions with diminishing winds
are expected at the TAF sites tonight. Moslty SKC skies through
the rest of tonight through Fri. Northerly winds will gust to
around 20 kt as diurnal heating increases mixing tomorrow.

LONG TERM /Friday night through Tuesday/...
As of 3 AM Thu...Pred VFR conditions expected through the
period with high pressure building over the area.

.MARINE...
SHORT TERM /through Friday/...
As of 445 PM Thu...All Tropical Storm Warnings will be
discontinued and changed to Gale Warnings as strong northerly
winds will continue into the overnight as the weakening remnants
of Idalia pull away from the area. N winds 25 to 35 kt will
diminish to 20 to 25 kt after midnight as the gradient begins to
decrease as high pressure builds over the waters. On Fri N/NE
winds will continue 205-25 kt. Seas will continue 10-15 kt
tonight, subsiding to 7-10 ft Fri.

LONG TERM /Friday night through Tuesday/...
As of 3 AM Thu...Gusty NE winds grad diminish to 15-20 kt Fri
night. Winds will continue to slowly diminish over the weekend
as high pressure builds in from the west. Dangerous seas will
continue across the waters slowly subsiding to 5-9 ft Fri
night. Elevated seas AOA 6 ft are likely to persist into Sunday
night.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
As of 445 PM Thu...Another round of water level rises expected
for portions of the coast this evening (1-3 ft above ground
level) as the remnants of Idalia continue to produce strong
winds and large swell off the NC coast tonight. Areas adjacent
to the southwestern Pamlico Sound including the
Neuse/Bay/Pamlico/Pungo Rivers as well as Core Sound will
continue to be affected during this evenings high tide.
Additionally, a combination of high water levels and high
astronomical tides will lead to 2-3 ft AGL rises oceanside from
Cape Hatteras to Duck through Friday morning.

The coastal flood issues could possibly linger into the weekend
for the Outer Banks, as strong NE winds and backswell will
continue behind Idalia. This may result in more ocean overwash
and minor beach erosion for the Outer Banks.
