* WHERE...Areas along Bogue Banks, Bogue Sound, the Newport and 
  White Oak Rivers, and adjacent tidal creeks, and areas in North 
  Topsail Beach, the lower New River, and adjacent tidal creeks.

* WHEN...From 8 PM this evening to 8 AM EDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Some roads and low lying property including parking 
  lots, parks, lawns, and homes adjacent to the waterfront will 
  experience shallow flooding.

  possible in some areas near shorelines and tidal waterways
  resulting in an elevated threat of property damage. Flooding
  will extend inland from the waterfront threatening some homes
  and businesses. Numerous road closures and flooding of vehicles
  will be possible.

from being able to keep their feet on the bottom making it

.SYNOPSIS...
A stalled cold front will remain just south of the area
through the weekend producing an extended period of windy,
cold, and wet weather. High pressure builds in from the north
Monday remaining in control into the end of the week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SATURDAY MORNING/...
As of 330 PM Fri... We begin our active weather pattern this
weekend on a rather gloomy note with widespread mid to low
clouds across the area and even some scattered shower activity
along our western zones as 850 mb frontogenesis begins to work its
way southwards. This has resulted in the best forcing being
relegated to our western zones W of Hwy 17. Though an isolated
to widely scattered shower can't be ruled out elsewhere given
the rather moist atmospheric column across the region, expecting
chances to remain limited closer to the Crystal Coast and
across areas south and east of Hwy 17 this afternoon into early
this evening. Temps have already reached their maximum earlier
this morning and have steadily decreased through the afternoon
today as the previously mentioned cold front has moved south of
the CWA, with temps now in the 50s across the FA.

Cold front will eventually stall overnight tonight to our south
with a wave of low pressure riding NE and then E'wards along
this stalled boundary later tonight. This will in fact set up a
classic "wedge" pattern, more reminiscent of winter tonight with
high pressure ridging south into the Carolinas and low pressure
off the SE coast. This will allow for cold air to filter into
the area this evening as N-NE'rly winds remain elevated with
lows expected to be in the 40s to low 50s across the FA. Aloft
S'rly flow will continue to bring ample moisture N'wards over
the area and will interact with a more focused area of
frontogenesis at 850 mb to allow for an increase in coverage and
intensity of rain this evening with just about the entire CWA
blanketed in an area of light to moderate rain after midnight
tonight. Current 12z guidance continues to put highest
frontogenesis along a broad area from north of the Crystal Coast
to our far northern zones so expect rainfall to build S'wards
and extend from W-E along this frontogenetic zone this evening.
With rainfall remaining steady and starting after midnight
expecting widespread rainfall amounts around 0.1-0.3 inches
this evening though higher amounts can't be ruled out within
locally heavier showers with the expectation that if heavier
amounts were to occur it would primarily be along areas N and W
of Hwy 17.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY/...
As of 330 PM Fri...850 mb frontogenesis gets maxed out along
the Crystal Coast on Saturday though slightly weaker forcing
does extend much further north across the rest of our CWA as the
stalled front to the south moves little and the aforementioned
low makes its closest point of approach to the region Saturday
evening. PWAT's will generally range around 1.0-1.5 inches
across the area with the highest PWAT's being found south and
east of Hwy 11. As a result widespread moderate to potentially
heavy rainfall will be ongoing across the CWA Saturday. Latest
hi-res and global forecast guidance continues to suggest the
heaviest amounts will be found north of Hwy 24 given the
expected location of maximum forcing.Given this, widespread
rainfall amounts of 0.5-1.5 inches with locally heavier amounts
are possible across the FA during the day Saturday. This could
bring an isolated threat for some localized flooding especially
across areas that see a longer duration of moderate to
potentially heavy rainfall. Will note, given the dry antecedent
conditions across the entire Coastal Plain this threat is
likely minimal at best. WPC does have the area south and east of
Hwy 264 under a marginoal risk for heavy to excessive rainfall
for Saturday to denote this threat.

In addition to this winds really being to increase across the
area Saturday morning and remain elevated into Saturday
afternoon as the pressure gradient remains tight between the
ridge to the north and the front/low pressure just to the south
of the Carolina Coast. This tighter gradient will bring
widespread gusty winds across the FA with inland areas seeing
gusts up around 25-30 mph. However, winds along the immediate
coast and across the OBX may reach as high as 45-50 mph on
Saturday and currently have a wind advisory across the OBX south
of Oregon Inlet to Eastern Carteret County to show where
highest confidence is in very strong wind gusts. Finally given
the strong NE'rly winds a threat for minor soundside coastal
flooding and oceanside wave run up will bring a threat for
coastal flooding as well. See COASTAL FLOODING section for more

be in place for the weekend, bringing unseasonably cool and wet
conditions for all of eastern North Carolina. Along the coast,
an extended period of strong northeasterly winds is expected and
will likely result in some minor soundside coastal flooding
over the weekend for locations adjacent to the southern Pamlico
Sound, Neuse and Pamlico Rivers. The system moves out by the
start of next week, with drier conditions and moderating
temperatures forecast through the work week.

Saturday night into Sunday...Tomorrow night into SUnday will
remain rather damp as a combination of isentropic upglide and
strengthening frontogenesis coincide along the frontal boundary
in a plume of PWATs ranging from 1.25 to 1.50", well above
normal for early April. Widespread QPF amounts of an inch to
inch and a half are forecast tomorrow night into Sunday. The
heaviest amounts, per HREF and SREF guidance, will likely fall
across central portions of the FA (roughly New Bern west) where
strongest f-gen will be in place. Storm total rainfall amounts
of 2-3 inches are forecast across Eastern NC, but given dry
antecedent conditions and no particularly overwhelming rainfall
rates, flooding risk appears minimal.

More impactful will be strong northeasterly winds along the
Outer Banks and soundside locales as strong high pressure keeps
gradient tight behind the stalled frontal boundary. The 00z
suite this morning continues on the intensification trend, with
the NAM and GFS now favoring sustained winds of 40-45 kt,
especially south of Oregon Inlet on Sunday. A Wind Advisory has
been issued for the Outer Banks starting early Saturday morning,
running through Sunday night.

The prolonged northeasterly winds will likely lead to at least
minor soundside flooding over the weekend, particularly along
the southern Pamlico Sound and the Neuse and Pamlico Rivers.
Dangerous surf conditions are also likely along the Outer Banks
from Oregon Inlet south to Cape Lookout. See the Tides/Coastal
Flooding section for more details.

Rain gradually tapers off from west to east as shortwave trough
digs into the mid-Atlantic, spurring a surface low over the
Gulf Stream and quickly pushing out to sea taking the deeper
moisture with it. By Sunday evening we should be mainly dry with
breaks in the clouds, with the exception of the Outer Banks
where some lingering rain and lower clouds will linger.

Unseasonably cool tomorrow with cold wedge and rain/clouds in
place, with highs only in the upper 40s for the coastal plain.
Temperatures will manage to recover on Sunday, but still only
into the mid to upper 50s.

Monday through Thursday...Model guidance beginning to form some
consensus on the pattern for next week. Shortwave trough is
expected to dive out of the central plains on Monday, eventually
cutting off over the northwestern Gulf of Mexico and sitting
over the Gulf States for much of the week while ridging builds
over the Carolinas. At the surface, high pressure will keep the
frontal boundary pinned along the Gulf Coast and keep the
Carolinas dry in persistent northeasterly flow. Temperatures
will steadily moderate as 850 mb temps increase through the
week, and by Thursday we should be back to around 80 for much of
the region. As is typical with cut-off low regimes, forecast
confidence is lower than average.

.AVIATION /19Z FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
SHORT TERM /Through Saturday/...
As of 230 PM Fri... The previously mentioned cold front has
made its way through the CWA this morning with all TAF sites now
reporting NE'rly winds at 10-15 kts with gusts in excess of 20
kts at times and primarily MVFR ceilings at about 1000-2000ft.
PGV has dropped down to 800 ft IFR ceilings as of this update,
but general thinking is over the next hour or so skies should
also lift here to above 1000 ft. Otherwise general expectation
for the rest of the afternoon and evening is for ceilings to
remain around IFR/MVFR heights and winds to gust to around 20-25
kts out of the NE through early this evening while isolated to
widely scattered showers persist as weak frontogenesis remains
over the wedge of cold air overspreading the area. We may see
some patchy fog early tonight before the main area of rain
overspreads the region late tonight but any fog threat is low
confidence given the expected thick cloud cover. As we get into
into late tonight frontogenesis maximizes over the region and
with ample moisture over the FA light to moderate rain will
begin to overspread the CWA from W-E. Ceilings will lower down
into IFR levels between 02-04Z. IFR ceilings and rain will
continue through Saturday morning.

LONG TERM /Saturday night through Tuesday/...
As of 320 AM Fri...A cold front remains stalled nearby through
the weekend, with periods rain and low clouds likely,
particularly across the coastal plain, resulting in a
potentially extended period of MVFR to IFR conditions. More
robust rainfall is expected tomorrow, bringing widespread IFR
conditions to all terminals. Heaviest rainfall and most likely
zone for IFR is for sites from PGV south. A drying trend is
expected on Sunday, and by Sunday night into Tuesday prevailing
VFR is forecast.

.MARINE...
SHORT TERM /Through Saturday/...
As of 330 PM Fri... No real change to the forecast this evening
as a prolonged period of hazardous boating conditions continues
this evening and through the weekend as high pressure builds
south and low pressure develops to the south. This will result
in strong northerly flow developing behind a cold front which
has pushed offshore earlier this morning. Gale Warnings have
been posted for all waters except for the Pamlico Pungo Rivers
where a SCA is in effect. N-NE winds behind the front remain
around 20-30 kt with frequent gusts to 35 kt today primarily
along our coastal waters and Pamlico Sound. Winds are forecast
to briefly subside to 15-25 kt this evening than increase again
to 25-35 kt late tonight. 2-3 ft seas early this morning build
to 4-7 ft late and 6-10 ft tonight. Winds continue to remain
elevated persisting at gale force across across just about all
of our waters with small craft conditions expected across the
Pamlico and Pungo Rivers still while sea heights increase to
8-12 ft on Saturday.

LONG TERM /Saturday night through Tuesday/...
As of 335 AM Friday...Prolonged period of Gales is expect
through the weekend as a strong surface high builds in from the
north. A second, more significant period of inclement weather is
anticipated on Saturday and lasting well into Sunday as a
strong surface high builds in from the north, tightening the
pressure gradient and resulting in sustained northeasterly winds
of 30-35+ kt, especially south of Oregon Inlet. A period of
Storm Force gusts remains possible Saturday night into Sunday
morning, although confidence remains low. If they occur, the
most probable spot would be south of Cape Hatteras. For now,
Gale Warnings remain in place.

The prolonged fetch will result in a dramatic increase in seas,
and by Sunday waters over the far outer central waters could
increase to 15+ feet. For nearshore waters in Raleigh Bay and
north of Cape Hatteras, seas of 10-12 feet are likely. Inner
Onslow Bay will be somewhat sheltered and see slightly lower
seas, although still above 6 feet. Guidance continues to show
stronger winds in successive runs, and the seas forecast may
still be on the conservative side.

Given recent trends in guidance (slightly stronger winds and
increasing confidence), all Small Craft Advisories with the
exception of the Pamlico/Pungo Rivers have been upgraded to
Gales with such conditions expected to begin by Saturday
evening.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
As of 345 AM Fri...A period of prolonged strong northeasterly
winds over area waters could result in up to 2 to 3 feet of
inundation for areas along the southern Pamlico Sound over the
weekend, with the most susceptible areas being eastern Carteret,
southern Craven, southern Beaufort, and Pamlico counties owing
to rises on the Neuse and Pamlico River. The most likely period
for highest inundation is late Saturday night, and Sunday night.
A Coastal Flood Watch may be needed for these zones later
today.

Winds will also drive dangerous surf, potentially leading to
overwash and dune erosion especially for beaches from Oregon
Inlet south to Cape Lookout. The most impactful conditions are
expected overnight Saturday through Monday.
