There is a slight risk of severe storms this afternoon and evening, mainly in the eastern Permian Basin and the Western Low Rolling Plains of west Texas and the southeastern New Mexico plains. Any severe storms that do develop will be accompanied by large hail and damaging winds. Heavy rainfall may also result in flash flooding. Last, frequent lightning can be expected in and near any thunderstorm. Severe Thunderstorm Watch number 229 has been issued for the southern Permian Basin and Trans Pecos. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday. At 507 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Milnesand, or 27 miles north of Tatum, moving southeast at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

through 700 PM CDT...

Lomax, or 11 miles west of Big Spring, moving southeast at 15 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Big Spring, Lomax, Big Spring Country Club, Elbow and Big Spring
McMahon-Wrinkle Airpark.
This includes Interstate 20 between mile markers 163 and 182.
