.SYNOPSIS...20/237 AM.

Cool temperatures and breezy offshore winds will continue through
early next week. Most of the weekend will consist of
clear skies. The strongest north to northeast winds will be
Saturday and early next week.

.SHORT TERM (TDY-SUN)...20/907 AM.

***UPDATE***

Light offshore flow this morning is actually somewhat
over-performing in terms of winds with a few spots in the LA
mountains gusting to 40+ and several LA/Ventura valley spots into
the 30s. Expecting these to continue through the morning before
waning in the afternoon as onshore trends return. Then picking up
again Saturday morning, possibly around 5mph stronger than today
in the usual areas around the highway 14 and 126/118 corridors.

***From Previous Discussion***

An upper ridge will amplify off the West Coast tonight, then move
into CA on Sat, flattening out as a trough moves into the Pacific
NW. Pressure gradients between KLAX and KDAG will turn
increasingly offshore late tonight and Sat morning. Upper level
support will be rather weak, but gradients and winds at 850 mb may
be just enough to produce low end advisory level winds in the
L.A./VTU County mtns, the eastern valleys of VTU County and the
western and northern valleys of L.A. County late tonight/Sat
morning. At this point, more ensemble members than not keep winds
just below advisory levels.

In wind sheltered locations, tonight will likely be even colder
than this current morning. Frost advisories will likely be needed
for the Central Coast and the wind sheltered valleys of Ventura
and L.A. Counties. Frost advisories may also be needed for the
south coast of SBA County and interior portions of the Ventura
County Coast. It may be cold enough for Freeze Warnings in the
Ojai Valley. Rising heights and offshore flow should allow for a
few degrees of warming Sat, especially to areas west of the
mountains, but most locations should still have below normal temps.

The trough in the Pac NW will drop southeastward and form a
closed low over Utah Sun. Offshore gradients to start will likely
keep some gusty winds in the mtns and some valley areas of L.A.
and VTU Counties Sat night/Sun morning, but winds will be below
advisory levels. Skies should be mostly clear Sat night and Sun.
It will be another chilly night Sat night, with frost advisories
likely needed once again. With falling heights and gradients
turning onshore Sun afternoon, there should be at least some
cooling, though max temps may be similar to those on Sat, reached
before seabreezes develop.

N-S gradients will increase Sun afternoon and night, and gusty
north winds are expected across the mtns and adjacent south coast
of SBA County and thru the I-5 Corridor Sun night.

.LONG TERM (MON-THU)...20/429 AM.

Low level flow will turn northeasterly Mon morning. Offshore
gradients between KLAX and KDAG will be on the moderate side, and
there will be decent upper level support. Most ensemble members
show advisory level wind gusts at KCMA and Newhall Mon. Max temps
should be up a couple of degrees in most areas Mon as an upper
ridge builds into the region.

A couple of weak inside sliders will pass to the east of the
region Tue and Wed, maintaining a broadly cyclonic northerly flow
pattern over the area. Expect mostly clear skies thru the period,
with max temps remaining a few degrees below normal, and gusty
northerly winds at times, mostly below advisory levels. It will be
chilly in wind sheltered locations each night.

The deterministic run of the EC shows a large upper high developing
off the West Coast pushing into northern and central CA Thu, and
while the GFS has a similar feature, it holds more of a trough
back across southern CA. Both models show sharp offshore
gradients, with advisory level Santa Ana winds likely if true.
Even if the cooler GFS is correct, expect some warming for Thu,
with max temps probably rising into the lower 70s in some areas.

At 1640Z, there was no marine inversion or marine layer at KLAX.

Overall, high confidence in 18Z TAF package as offshore flow will
keep all sites CAVU through the period. The offshore winds will
likely generate some light turbulence/LLWS across the foothills
and mountains through the period.

KLAX...High confidence in 18Z TAF as CAVU conditions are
anticipated through the period. No significant easterly wind
component is expected.

KBUR...High confidence in 18Z TAF as CAVU conditions are
anticipated through the period.

.MARINE...20/847 AM.

For the Outer Waters, moderate to high confidence in current
forecast. Today through Saturday, high confidence in winds and
seas remaining below Small Craft Advisory (SCA) levels. For
Saturday night through Monday, high confidence in both winds and
seas increasing to SCA levels (with a 20-30% chance of Gale force
winds on Sunday). For Tuesday, high confidence in winds dropping
below SCA levels with a 30-40% chance of SCA level seas
continuing.

For the Inner Waters north of Point Sal, moderate to high
confidence in current forecast. Today through Tuesday, high
confidence in winds remaining below SCA levels. As for seas, there
is a 30-50% chance of SCA level seas on Sunday and Monday.

For the Inner Waters south of Point Conception, moderate to high
confidence in current forecast. For this morning and Saturday
morning, there is a 30-40% chance of SCA level northeast winds
from Ventura south to Santa Monica. Otherwise, winds and seas are
expected to remain below SCA levels through Sunday. On Monday,
high confidence in SCA level northeast winds developing from
Ventura south to Santa Monica as well as across San Pedro Bay.
On Tuesday, high confidence in winds and seas remaining below SCA
levels.

.BEACHES...20/901 AM.

Elevated to possibly high surf conditions will persist along the
west facing beaches on the Central Coast into next week, possibly
pushing into the beaches South of Point Conception between Tuesday
and Wednesday as another westerly swell builds.

High tides will contribute to enhanced beach erosion and bring a
risk of coastal flooding, especially in most vulnerable areas
through this evening with the greatest risk occurring when tides
peak this morning. For the weekend, tides are forecast to range
between 6.8 and 7.3 feet.

Therefore, a COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY is in effect through this
evening for minor but impactful coastal flooding due the
combination of high tides and elevated surf. There is a 30-40%
chance that the Flood Advisory may need to be extended through the
weekend.
