...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Indiana...
East Fork White River at Seymour.
White River from Elliston to Hazleton.
.Lowland, minor flooding continues along the middle and lower Wabash
River, and rainfall amounts of one to over two inches yesterday
brought renewed flooding or will prolong flooding along the lower
White River and at Seymour on the East Fork White. Minor flooding on
the East Fork White at Seymour will last into the weekend and could
develop at other points on the lower East Fork White. Minor flooding
on the lower White and lower Wabash will last through much of next
week. Minor flooding primarily impacts local river roads, parks, and
agricultural land.
Mainly dry conditions are expected for the next several days, which
will allow time for rivers to crest and fall below flood for the
lowest portions of the White and Wabash by next weekend.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

.Following areas of one to two inches of rainfall on Wednesday...
lowland, minor flooding along the East Fork White River...continues
at Seymour...while on the White River minor flooding has resumed at
Elliston...and continues at Edwardsport and points downriver.
The crest on the East Fork White River has passed Seymour...yet this
slowly passing crest is expected to hold Lawrence County points in
action stage to near bankfull into early next week. The White River
is forecast to crest this weekend. Flooding is expected to continue
on the East Fork White River at Seymour into Saturday...while
aforementioned points on the White River should remain in minor
flood into next week.
Minor flooding primarily impacts local river roads, parks, and
agricultural land. Dry conditions are expected through next week...
which will allow the lowest portions of the White River to crest and
fall below flood by next weekend.

With dry weather expected for several days, minor flooding is
expected to end over the weekend for most locations, but continue
into the middle of next week at Mount Carmel, and near the end of

East Mt. Carmel, Indiana. Fifth Street that parallels river
closes. Twin restaurant along the river also closes. Several
local river roads flood.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...White River at Petersburg.
* WHEN...Until early Friday morning.
* IMPACTS...At 20.9 feet, During June 2010 State Road 257 south of
Washington began to flood at this crest level at Petersburg after
Shoals crested at 18.19 feet. About a week later Petersburg
crested at 21.34 feet...about one half foot higher...but the water
did not reach State Road 257 after Shoals crested at 15.59 feet...
about 2.5 feet lower. Lost River did not contribute much water
during this June flood and locally it was not extremely wet.

.With the weather continuing to remain dry, the water levels
continue to fall at Seymour on the East Fork White River and at
Elliston on the White River, both in southern Indiana. The rivers
at these points have fallen below flood stage and this downward
trend is expected to continue for the foreseeable future.

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Indianapolis IN 508 AM EDT Thu Apr 6 2023 ...Updated Aviation Discussion... .Short Term...(Today and tonight) Issued at 258 AM EDT Thu Apr 6 2023 As a deep cyclone over Ontario moves eastward today, its trailing jet entrance region will be over the mid-Mississippi Valley, extending into Indiana. Some anafrontal light precipitation is possible, mainly from the Ohio River southward. Sprinkles may occur across our far southern counties given residual weak ascent in the mid levels. Sloping clouds upward into Indiana will be present through the day. Cold advection isn't particularly strong but sufficient to hold us in the mid to upper 50s. Forecast confidence is fairly high, though if we mix deeper we could exceed forecast temperatures by a degree or two. Also, we went with the lowest end of guidance for dew points since moist layer is shallow and should mix out more readily than most models indicate. This is a common bias in these type scenarios. && .Long Term...(Friday through Wednesday) Issued at 258 AM EDT Thu Apr 6 2023 The long term period will be quiet and trend warmer as surface high pressure dominates. Surface flow will start out of the north and become easterly through the weekend. This will lead to high temperatures in the 50s warming to the 60s over the weekend. Friday night will be the coldest of the long term. Winds will then turn southerly from Monday onward, allowing temperatures to warm further. By midweek, highs will be in the 70s with some areas likely reaching the 80s for a day or two. An upper wave will move through the area sometime Monday which may bring a chance of light rain to the area, but thinking there won't be much moisture in the atmosphere to work with.
