FRIDAY EVENING...
* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, up to one half foot of
inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines
and tidal waterways. For the Beach Hazards Statement, Strong
north to south longshore current. There is also a Moderate Risk
of rip currents expected.
* WHERE...Coastal Pender and Coastal New Hanover Counties.
* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 11 PM EDT this
evening. For the Beach Hazards Statement, from 6 AM EDT Friday
through Friday evening.
* IMPACTS...Low-lying roads and locations along the Intracoastal
Waterway and adjacent tidal creeks may observe minor coastal
flooding. Check with local officials for any road closures or
impacts. Longshore currents can sweep swimmers and surfers

* IMPACTS...Portions of Battleship Road and USS North Carolina
Road may become impassable. In downtown Wilmington, flooding
expands on Water Street from Orange Street to Red Cross
Street. The lowest portions of Water Street between Princess
and Orange Streets may become impassable. Flooding worsens on
the lowest spots of River Road and adjacent residential roads,
south of River Road Park. Route 133 at Little Mallory Creek
may be flooded. Highway 421 Truck near Carolina Beach Road
begins to flood. Check with local officials for any road
closures or impacts.

temperatures expected Fri thru this weekend, before returning
to normal by early next week as ridging aloft teeters eastward.

Marine...ILM NC Waters Gale lowered to SCA thru noon Fri. Likely
will need it longer if seas stay elevated. ILM SC waters, SCA
extended til 9am Fri. May have a brief lull in winds this
evening across all waters until a pinched gradient develops
between a 1025mb high ridging across the Carolinas from the NE
States and departing Post Tropical Cyclone Idalia.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Backdoor cold front/wedge of high pressure, aided in part by
Idalia, giving a very non-August feel at the time and will
continue to do so tonight even as winds abate since dewpoints
drop down to around 60. Tomorrow remains 'unseasonably comfy' as
light winds remain out of the northeast and dewpoints remain in
the low 60s while the afternoon temperature rises into just the
low 80s, about a category below normal.

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/...
Dry high pressure will extend in from the northeast as mid to
upper level ridge extends in from the central CONUS. This will
maintain a deep northerly flow of relatively cooler and drier
air through Sat night. Pcp water values will be less than an
inch. May see a some passing cirrus running down in northerly
flow in the upper levels but overall, expect plenty of
sunshine and no pcp. Max temps on Sat will be on the lower end
of the 80s with 850 temps slowly rising from 13c. Overnight lows
will will be near 60 with very dry air mass in place and
dewpoint temps dipping down below 60 Fri night and Sat night.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
High pressure will hold strong, perhaps becoming centered more
inland by the end of the period. Continued clear skies paired
with slight WAA aloft, particularly headed into early next
week, will increase highs day to day ahead of another potential
cold front. Highs could break back into the 90s come mid next
week and stay that way under the bubble high. Lows follow a
similar trend, nearing 70 come mid next week.

VFR at all terminals throughout the 24 hr TAF Issuance Period.
High pressure nosing south across the west central Carolinas to
dominate. Could see Few/Sct cu or stratocu at the coastal
terminals. Northerly winds 4 to 8 kt tonight, veer to the NE
10 to 15 kt gusts up to 19 kt at the coastal terminals.
Extended Outlook...Dominant VFR conditions likely Fri Night day
through Monday as high pressure dominates. Backdoor cold front
Tue may produce isolated MVFR convection.

Through Friday...The gradient between Idalia and a wedge of
high pressure will dominate the forecast through the period.
This keeps winds out of the N and eventually NE while speeds
abate on account of Idalia's exit to the NE. Tropical Storm
Warning continues in the very near term/maybe just this evening
for NC waters whereas a relatively short fused SCA has been
hoisted for SC waters as they are being shielded from Idalia
swell from Cape fear. Once the tropical headline is dropped
over NC waters an Advisory is expected.
Friday night through Monday...
Lingering backswell from Idalia and persistent northerly flow
around high pressure extending in from the northeast will
maintain seas in the 4 to 6 ft range over northern waters into
Sat. Winds and seas will diminish through the weekend into early
next weekend. Winds will remain northerly but will lighten to 5
to 10 kt with seas 3 to 5 ft Sat eve falling down to 2 to 4 ft
through Sun. Winds will be light and more variable Sun into Mon
but may come around to a more southerly direction on Mon ahead
of a cold front trailing from the north. Longer period NE to E
swells will mix in.
