  woodlands and agricutural areas upstream and downstream from the 
  gage on U.S. Highway 80. The flood waters will be around 4 feet 
  deep on Rex Miller Road and Old River Lane. Several homes on these 
  roads will be under two feet of water. Also a few homes on River 
  Ridge Road will be flooded with a foot of water. Portions of the 
  Riverview Park Golf Course will be flooded.

  - At 3:45 AM EDT Friday the stage was 26.8 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 3:45 AM EDT Friday was 26.9 feet.

  woodlands and pastures upstream and downstream from the gage on 
  U.S. Highway 280. The boat ramp parking lot is flooded out on the 
  Wheeler County side of the river. More homes on Dead River Road in 
  the south part of Montgomery County become surrounded with water. 
  Some flooding inside the structures is possible. Some portions of 
  Dead River Road are covered by at least a foot of water.

  downstream and right bank from the U.S. Highway 80 bridge.

* IMPACTS...At 13 feet, Minor flooding of lowlands adjacent to the 
  river continue to expand into the flood plain. Flooding of the 
  nearby park and parking lot at the Abbeville boat ramp also 
  expands.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 8:45 PM EDT Wednesday the stage was 12.7 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 8:45 PM EDT Wednesday was 13.8 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    tomorrow morning and continue falling to 7.2 feet Monday
    evening.

* IMPACTS...At 15 feet, Flood Stage is reached and minor flooding 
  begins. Water overflows into the broad swampy flood plain. Farm 
  fields on the right bank flood. General agriculture and timber 
  interests are affected by the flooding. In addition...water 
  reaches the top of the boat ramp near the Highway 341 bridge.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 4:45 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 16.1 feet and slowly
    rising.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 16.3
    feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage
    early Sunday morning.
  - Flood stage is 15 feet.

It's shaping out to be a beautiful Thursday across North and
Central Georgia! Current temperatures are in the upper 50s to mid
60s with calm to light SE winds. High temperatures this afternoon
will climb into the 70s areawide. Made a few tweaks to grids to
reflect current trends, otherwise, forecast largely remains on
track.

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Friday)

Another gorgeous spring day for the southeast. Southeasterly winds
will help drive temperatures up in to  the mid to upper 700s for
most of the region today. Overnight lows will fall into the mid 50s
with some mid 40s across the highest elevation of northern GA.

Dewpoints will continue to climb tomorrow as moist humid air pushes
in out ahead another front set to move in over the weekend. Showers
and a few rumbles of thunder may be possible late tomorrow afternoon
across far northern Georgia.

Northern Georgia will likely see minimum RH values fall below 25%
for a good portion of today and tomorrow afternoon. Please see the

and the thresholds.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday night through Wednesday)
Issued at 317 AM EDT Thu Mar 30 2023

Front still expected for this weekend...with the potential for
strong/severe storms. A second frontal boundary is anticipated for
late next week...brining another chance for showers and
thunderstorms.

Models have slowed the frontal passage down a few hours from run to
run for this weekend. The front should approach far NW GA early
Saturday morning and then move through the remainder of the CWA
during the day on Saturday. The potential is definitely there for
thunderstorms, especially with the boundary moving through during the
day. With 50-70kt of shear, steep lapse rates, SBCAPE of 500 to 1500
J/kg and RRJ dynamics, there will be plenty of fuel for strong to
severe thunderstorms. There is one caveat...the best mid level
forcing will remain well to the north of the CWA. The best moisture
will be along and south of Interstate 20, with PWATS well above
normal. Locally heavy rainfall will be possible within this area.

There is also some potential for frost in the NE mountains late
Saturday night/early Sunday morning with temps in the middle 30s.
Winds may stay up just enough to prevent widespread formation though.

High pressure will build back in for Sunday.  Models are progging a
strong shortwave moving through in the flow Sunday night into
Monday that is producing precip (potential MCS?).

A second cold front is expected to impact the CWA late Wednesday
into Thursday.
