MORNING...

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of north and central Georgia.

* WHEN...From 11 PM this evening to 10 AM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other 
  sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor 
  plumbing.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

Dry and pleasant weather on tap through the short term.  Surface
ridge shifts east of the Appalachians and CAD sets up early this
morning. Main impact of that will be the continued reinforcement of
cool dry air from the NE today instead of the NW. With some mixing
expect dry air off the surface to mix down yielding low RH values
areawide today.  Have issued a Fire Danger Statement (SPS) to
highlight the lower RH values this afternoon and early evening. Will
likely need another on Tuesday as well.

Will start off the first day of spring with a Freeze Warning likely
followed up with another for Tuesday AM.  With dewpoints holding
into the teens during the day into the nighttime, PWAT values less
than .2", and clear skies, there's plenty of radiational cooling
potential during the overnight periods.  ATL high temp on Sunday of
46 was just 2 degrees above the record low max temp of 44 set in
1892 to give context on how cool the airmass is. Looking like
Tuesday will be the last Freeze going into the late week as a
gradual warmup is in store as mid level heights begin to rise and
the arctic ridge loses its grip on the area. Freeze watch for Tue AM
will likely be upgraded to a warning near the conclusion of the
current active warning for this morning.

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday night through Sunday)
Issued at 318 AM EDT Mon Mar 20 2023

Picking up the long term on Tuesday night, dry and Warm
conditions are expected to overspread the area as surface/mid-lvl
winds turn SW-ly through Thursday. By Friday into Saturday, 00Z GFS
has come in with a bit stronger negatively tilted upper lvl
trough moving eastward into our area by Saturday afternoon,
dragging along an associated surface front. With more upper lvl
support, SB/MUCAPE <1000j/kg and SRH values around 250-300m2s2,
looking more at a high shear low CAPE setup for our CWA, so will
need to monitor LCL heights across NW GA where SBCAPE value
maximize. With the main action and best support off to the west in
MS/AL, SPC continued the 15% severe probability across much of
the TN/Ms river valleys, just clipping far NW GA for Friday.
However, will need to monitor potential for SPC expansion further
into the area for Friday pending FROPA speed and then again on
Saturday.

Temps will warm up into the upper 70s and low 80s by mid week and
then the mid 70s by the end of the week which is about 10-20 degrees
above climatological norms.

kts will continue through the afternoon, becoming light out of the
ESE by Tuesday morning. Light and VRB winds overnight expected,

expected to move overhead this evening, with cloud bases over 10
kft expected.
