...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM CDT THIS 
MORNING FOR SOUTHEASTERN BASTROP, SOUTHEASTERN CALDWELL, DEWITT, 
SOUTHWESTERN FAYETTE, GONZALES, SOUTHEASTERN GUADALUPE, KARNES, 
WESTERN LAVACA AND WILSON COUNTIES...

At 709 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 
and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 
to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is 
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Cuero, Gonzales, Floresville, Yoakum, Luling, Kenedy, Karnes City, 
  Poth, Yorktown, Shiner, Stockdale, Flatonia, Moulton, Kosciusko, 
  Nixon, Elmendorf, La Vernia, Waelder, Runge and Falls City.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

At 814 AM CDT, Radar and automated gauges continue indicate 
thunderstorms producing very heavy rain across the warned area. 
Between 2 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall 
amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash 
flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Local law enforcement and TXDOT officials are reporting
         flooded roadways in portions of southern Gonzales,
         DeWitt, and Karnes Counties.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM...

Key points:

-Rounds of moderate to heavy rains expected to continue this weekend
 into next week.

-A Flood Watch remains in effect through early this evening and may
 be extended later into the weekend.

-3 to 6 inches of rain are expected over many areas with isolated
totals of up to 10 inches possible.

-Be sure to have multiple ways to receive flood and severe weather-
related warnings.

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Sunday)

The much anticipated strong to severe thunderstorms and heavy rains
with flooding event is well underway. The line of showers and
thunderstorms has moved east of the I-35/I-37 corridors with showers
and thunderstorms moving up from the Coastal Plains and rain with a
few thunderstorms over the Hill Country to the Rio Grande. The line
will continue to move to the east this morning as the activity from
the Coastal Plains feed into it. The heaviest rains this morning will
be east of I-35 to the Coastal Plains. The activity over our western
areas should gradually decrease. It is possible that the ongoing
heavy rains stabilizes the airmass making for less convective
development in its wake later this morning and possibly this
afternoon. The models show a variety of solutions for today. Still
expect 3 to 6 inches mainly over the eastern areas with isolated
totals near 10 inches. Will continue the Flood Watch through early
this evening. There is a marginal risk of strong to severe storms for
today due to some instability and steep mid level lapse rates.

Deep southerly flow remains over South Central Texas tonight through
Sunday. Quite a few models indicate additional impulses with rounds
of showers and thunderstorms moving up from the south-southwest
tonight into Sunday. There is a good potential for at least locally
heavy rains with WPC showing a slight chance for excessive rainfall
for most of our area. As a result, the Flood Watch may be extended
beyond this evening.

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday night through Friday)
Issued at 315 AM CDT Sat May 13 2023

Deep southerly flow remains over South Central Texas on Monday with
a few models indicating additional impulses with rounds of showers
and thunderstorms moving up from the south-southwest. There is a
good potential for at least locally heavy rains with WPC showing a
slight chance for excessive rainfall for most of our area.

The deep southerly flow early in the week yields to mid level
troughiness for the middle of next week, then upper level ridging
late next week. A moist airmass remains, however, PWs decrease a
little. As a result, chances of showers and thunderstorms along with
heavy rain potential decrease with WPC showing only a marginal risk
of excessive rainfall.

A line of SHRA/TSRA approaching the I-35 corridor will impact those
sites over the next few hours. Wind gusts to 40 KTs are possible at
KSAT/KSSF. Models are still having a hard time depicting conditions
after this initial line of storms, so continued the trend of shower
chances for Saturday into Saturday night. However, some breaks in
precipitation are likely. The showers and thunderstorms will play
havoc with flying categories. Areas of MVFR conditions with pockets
of LIFR/IFR conditions are possible.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for South-Central Texas..

.DAY ONE...Today And Tonight.

Rounds of heavy rains will continue today, especially east of
I-35 to near the Coastal Plains with locally heavy rains west of
this area. There is a level 3 out of 4 risk of excessive rainfall
leading to flooding near the Coastal Plains, decreasing to 1 out
of 4 risk over the Edwards Plateau.

A Flood Watch is in effect through early this evening, however it
may be extended. This is an evolving forecast. So, be sure to
check the forecast frequently for updates.

There is also a level 1 to 2 out of 5 risk for severe storms
across generally along and east of I-35 with the greatest risk
near the Coastal Plains and US 77 corridor. Large hail and
damaging wind gusts are the main severe weather threats.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday.

Rounds of showers and thunderstorms will continue on Sunday
through much of next week. Locally, possibly more widespread
heavy rains are possible. There is a level 2 out of 4 risk of
excessive rainfall leading to flooding on Sunday and Monday, then
1 out of 4 risk Tuesday and Wednesday.

A Flood Watch may be needed for portions of our area. This is an
evolving forecast. So, be sure to check the forecast frequently
for updates.

...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of northeastern Fayette
County through 515 AM CDT...

At 440 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
La Grange, moving northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
La Grange, Fayetteville, Round Top, Swiss Alp, Rutersville,
Warrenton, O'Quinn, Waldeck, Rabbs Prairie, Ellinger, Plum, Walhalla,
Rek Hill, Mullins Prairie and Nechanitz.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
