counties, and portions of far interior Humboldt County through
the weekend. These are not unprecedented values; however, the
summer thus far has been anomalously cool, and such an abrupt rise
will leave little time for acclimation. Moreover, given the
coinciding holiday weekend, there will be an abundance of outdoor
activities and more exposure to the heat. Given the outlined
factors, the existing Heat Advisory for Trinity, Lake and interior
Mendocino counties is on track, with some possible room for
expansion. Heat Risk guidance inlcudes portions of NE Humboldt
for major heat risk, including the Orleans area for Saturday. The
ridge will begin to flatten and progress east on Monday as mid
level shortwave troughing develops upstream. This will result in
temperature moderation next week. A Pacific ridge will amplify to
the northwest as well next week, and some clusters show slightly
better influence (warming) into the area (59%, and the majority
ECMWF). Troughing looks to undercut the ridge and negate its
influence.

.AVIATION...Subtle improvement along the coastal terminals this
morning compared to previous mornings. Fog and drizzle is absent
while a low ceiling remains (600 ft). Expecting gradual improvement
over the remainder of the morning with vfr conditions and perhaps a
little sunshine by early afternoon. Stratus is expected to reform
this evening but over the course of each day the marine layer should
become more shallow as high pressure builds over the region. This
should help vfr conditions to persist longer each day moving forward.

.MARINE...Northerlies continue as high pressure ridging sets in
for the next several days. Small area tracks of Gale force gusts
will develop in the lee of Cape Mendocino through the evening.
Elevated gusts in the northern outer waters will also develop,
closest to Oregon waters. A Gale Watch for the outer waters was
hoisted for Friday through Saturday for the outer waters...while
hard SCA conditions are likely for the southern inner waters for
this weekend. Stay tuned into the marine forecast at
