.SHORT TERM...(Late this afternoon through Saturday night)

Vigorous low pressure storm system located over the Upper Midwest and
Great Lakes continues to produce a wide variety of impactful winter
weather. In its wake, the arctic airmass is maintaining its icy grip
on our CWA with very cold temperatures and wind chills. Winds were
lighter this afternoon compared to yesterday, yet apparent temperatures
ranged from -5F to -25F degrees.

A potent upper low pressure system was located off the OR coast with
a trough axis extending into the Desert Southwest. A series of short
waves embedded in the southwest flow aloft were producing showers from
the Great Basin to the Four Corners. Mid/upper level clouds were
spreading northeast into south and southeast WY with snow showers
developing across western CO.

Short term forecast concerns will cold temperatures/wind chills
tonight, mountain snowfall, and potential strong winds for portions
of southeast WY.

Lead short wave to the southwest will track east-northeast over the
CWA tonight. Snow showers will increase in coverage along and west
of the Laramie Range this evening, with more isolated coverage to
the east. Low temperatures tonight will range the single digits above
to below zero. Despite the increased cloud cover, the coldest area
will be along the Pine Ridge from Converse County east to the northern
NE Panhandle. Wind speeds of 10-20 mph will lower wind chills to -20F
to -30F degrees and a Wind Chill Advisory was issued from 11 PM this
evening to 8 AM Friday morning. Snow showers will continue over Carbon
and western Albany counties Friday morning, gradually tapering off
in the afternoon. High temperatures Friday will range from the mid 20s
to mid 30s. Friday night will not be as cold with teens to lower 20s.
Total mountain snow accumulations will generally range from 4 to 8
inches, heaviest above 9500 feet. Elsewhere, accumulations will be
light, generally less than a half inch.

West-southwest winds will be increasing west of the Laramie Range
Friday afternoon with gusts of 30 to 50 MPH. 700-800mb wind speeds
increase to 55 to 60 kt Friday night and Saturday morning over the
Laramie Range. Local random forest high wind probables have trended
higher from the previous 12 hours, with 60 percent at Bordeaux. High
wind criteria is predicted between 09Z Saturday and 06Z Sunday. 850mb
CAG-CPR/CAG-BRX gradients rise above 60 meters, peaking between 60
and 70 meters Saturday. For Arlington, I-80 Summit and Foothills,
guidance shows elevated winds but not high winds. Issued a High Wind
Watch for WY Zone 106 (Bordeaux) valid from 11 PM Friday evening to
11 PM Saturday evening. The warming trend continues Saturday with
afternoon highs in the 30s and 40s.

.LONG TERM...(Sunday through Thursday)

Sunday...Models indicate a progressive short wave trough aloft sweeping
across Wyoming and Colorado, though the bulk of the lift will be to
our south closer to the 500-300mb and 700-500mb quasigeostrophic lift,
thus we only anticipate scattered to numerous snow showers over our
Snowy and Sierra Madre Ranges.

Monday-Wednesday...Fast zonal flow aloft prevails with a series of
progressive short wave troughs passing overhead producing orographic
snow showers confined primarily to our Snowy, Sierra Madre and Laramie
Ranges. The best coverage of snow will be on Wednesday when low and
mid levels will be the most moist. After seasonably mild temperatures
Monday and Tuesday, a cold front will bring cooler temperatures for
Wednesday with 700mb temperatures near -14 degrees Celsius. The primary
weather effects will be occasional strong west winds, mainly for our
Wyoming wind prone locations such as Arlington, Bordeaux and Vedauwoo
where our local wind model and Craig to Casper height gradients look
favorable for wind gusts approaching high wind criteria at times. Have
adjusted our wind grids to account for these locally stronger winds.

Thursday...As the trough aloft passes overhead and winds aloft turn
northerly, decent surface to 700mb gradients suggest a breezy to windy
day, along with colder temperatures in the wake of a cold frontal
passage. Looks like enough cyclonic flow aloft to produce isolated
to scattered snow showers, most numerous over the mountains.

Weak upper level trough and associated jet stream energy will push
northeast tonight across the Wyoming/Colorado border. Increasing
clouds will continue through 03z with some isolated to scattered
snow showers or snow flurries developing across the mountains and
move northeast across the eastern plains of southeast Wyoming and
western Nebraska.

HAZARDS/WEATHER TRENDS: VFR conditions will prevail this evening,
but MVFR conditions in low CIGS between 1500 to 3000 feet AGL are
expected as snow shower activity lifts northeast. Low probability of
IFR or lower conditions with this activity, so kept that out of the
TAF for now. Some fog and/or low CIGS below 500 feet are possible
around KCYS, KSNY, and KAIA after 08z Friday. Winds should remain
pretty light and variable over night with some gusty southwest winds
developing Friday afternoon around KRWL and KLAR.

No fire weather concerns due to high humidities and widespread snow
cover from the recent winter storm. A weather disturbance will produce
scattered snow showers tonight and Friday, mainly over the southern

arctic cold airmass will linger tonight then move east Friday, allowing
temperatures to gradually warm into the weekend. West to southwest
winds will strengthen Friday afternoon west of the Laramie Range, then
shift east to the Laramie Range Friday night and Saturday. Periodic

-10 to -20 degrees.

Temperatures will slowly moderate into the single digits above
zero this afternoon. Wind chill temperatures will range from
0 to -15 degrees.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY

Winds will strengthen Friday afternoon and continue into Saturday
morning, and again Sunday night and Monday. Strong winds with
gusts of 50 to 60 MPH will be possible.

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of south central
Wyoming.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT

Periods of light to moderate snow will develop late this afternoon
and continue tonight. Two to four inches is expected. Winds gusting
to 30 MPH will produce patchy blowing snow.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY

The snow will linger Friday morning then taper off in the afternoon.
Winds gusting to 50 MPH will create areas of blowing snow.
