.SYNOPSIS...
A frontal boundary will remain stalled out over the Ohio River
Valley through tonight. This front will move north overnight as
a warm front as low pressure moves northwest of the forecast
area through Michigan and into Canada on Saturday. This low will
extend a cold front across the area on Saturday afternoon and
evening. High pressure will build in behind the system for
Sunday.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SATURDAY/...
No real major changes with this update this afternoon.
Precipitation is retreating as expected to the south but this
will be short lived as next round of rain moves into the area
later tonight.

Previous Discussion...
Some rain will continue across the southern portions of the
forecast area early this morning as low level moisture continues
to overrun the stalled surface frontal boundary and reaching as
far north as the US 30 corridor. High pressure building over the
northern Great Lakes region will push back on this moisture and
drive the better rain chances south during the day today. Expect
temperatures to not do too much today, getting into the 40s,
and clouds will reign across the region. For tonight, the front
over the Ohio River will get lifted north as low pressure will
pass the area to the northwest. This front should allow for a
much of the area to get a quick shot at about 0.75" to 1.25" of
rain overnight, which is a bit cut back from previous forecasts
as the window for efficient rainfall appears shorter and the
better synoptic forcing is either northwest with the low track
or south of the area, where things will be going for a large
portion of the day. Tossed around a flood watch, given the river
flood potential across the area with much of the rain overnight
being runoff, but ended up opting against it as the heavy rain
window is shorter and the QPF is lower than the previous
forecast, when we did not issue the product.

Saturday will be quite the roller coaster of weather to watch
across the area. The low will move north of the forecast area
and the front will cross the entire area, allowing for all areas
to get into the warm sector. Expect temperatures to reach the
50s and even 60s across the region with the front through the
region. Winds in the warm sector will increase to some extent
from the south to southeast with some mixing. Still not sure how
much mixing will occur across the region. Favored downslope
areas should do well and can see the need for a Wind Advisory by
Saturday afternoon for Erie PA. A cold front will then move
across the area Saturday afternoon and evening and potentially
generate some more showers and perhaps some rumbles of thunder.
With the wind field, have some slight concern about any
convection bringing down some stronger winds. Regardless, as the
front crosses the region, winds should be able to mix down
better with the cold air advection and suspect a wind advisory
will be needed post-front for the entire area late Saturday
afternoon into Saturday night.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
Will hold on to saturated low level cold air advection and resultant
rain/snow showers for NW PA Saturday night, but ending before dawn
without much residence time over the region. As the upper low exits
to the northeast, zonal flow will take hold of the eastern CONUS and
will get into a period of low POP/low QPF disturbances in the upper
level pattern beginning Monday. With the Monday upper trough axis, a
surface low passes west to east just south of the CWA. Temperatures
near normal Sunday, and slightly below on Monday.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Zonal flow continues into the middle of the week with the next week
trough axis aloft Tuesday in another low POP/low QPF system.
Upstream ridge begins to build over the central CONUS Wednesday
night/Thursday wit ha developing low pressure system over the
southern high plains region. Warm advection will get organized, and
a warm front will develop, stretching towards the Ohio Valley. Warm
air advection will not affect the region until after Thursday, and
until that point, near normal temperatures will dominate the long
term forecast period.

.AVIATION /18Z Friday THROUGH Wednesday/...
The calm before the next round of rain and associated low
ceilings and visibilities is currently taking place. A storm
system developing over Oklahoma is expected to move rapidly
northeast tonight and Saturday just northwest of the local area.
This should force a warm front north into the area and a cold
front will advance east setting up a triple point over the
forecast area. As the warm front lifts north into the area, rain
will spread into the region late tonight and periods of moderate
rainfall is expected across the area. This activity should lift
north of the area Saturday morning allowing a dry slot to lift
into the area ahead of the cold front. At this time, will hold
off on mention of thunderstorms in the east but there is the
possibility that strong gusty winds could occur with showers
that develop along the cold front if the atmosphere becomes more
unstable. Trends are indicating that the potential for severe
thunderstorms is increasing over the extreme east for Saturday
afternoon. Aviation interests at the terminals should be alert
for possible strong wind gusts Saturday afternoon. However,
outside of the thunderstorm risk, after the cold front moves
east of the area, winds will become gusty across the entire
forecast area. This will have impacts to aircraft on the ground
as well.

Outlook...Non-VFR possible in rain into Saturday evening.
Gusty, southwesterly winds of 35 to 40 knots are possible
Saturday evening. Non-VFR possible Sunday night through Tuesday
in showers.

.MARINE...
East northeast winds today 10-15kts increase to 15-25kts Saturday
with wave heights increasing in the western basin to 5-8ft before a
warm front comes through swinging the winds around to the southwest.
These winds are currently projected to reach gale force later
Saturday afternoon for the western basin and early Saturday night
for the central and eastern basins. Wave heights 7 to 11 feet late
Saturday through Sunday. Winds ease Sunday to 10-15kts and
wave heights come back down below 2ft by Sunday night. Northerly
winds 10-15kts return Monday with the approach of a low pressure
system to the south.

Gale Watch remains in effect Saturday into Saturday night. A Low
Water Advisory may be needed with the southwesterly gale force
winds.
