.SYNOPSIS...
Winds will gradually diminish through today. Rain and wet snow
showers today will change to all snow tonight into Saturday
morning, with some minor higher terrain accumulation. High
pressure moves in for the weekend with milder air returning
Sunday into early next week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Low pressure centered over Georgian Bay, with the cold front
entering the eastern Lake Ontario region at press time. West-
southwest winds have ramped up as the cold air advection and
downward momentum transfer behind the cold front works through.
Most of the area experiencing wind gusts in the 30-45 mph, but areas
downwind of Lake Erie over to the Rochester seeing measured gusts of
50-60 mph. The wind headlines will remain in effect. Winds will
gradually diminish today.

Some showers will linger behind the cold front this morning perhaps
mixing with wet snow across higher terrain. Large scale troughing
over the region gains reinforcement by this afternoon as a
clipper shortwave tracks in from the northwest. This should
bring an uptick to the shower activity, particularly to the
east of the lakes where some lake enhancement is likely, as 850
mb temperatures fall to near -10C by this evening. By tonight,
any rain or mixed showers will transition to snow showers.
Accumulations should be limited to an inch or perhaps two
across the higher terrain east of Lake Erie. Slightly higher
amounts could occur across the Tug Hill east of Lake Ontario.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...
A few light flurries will continue southeast of both lakes Saturday
morning. However, these flurries won't last long as surface high
pressure will be ridging across the eastern Great Lakes. Dry weather
is then expected to last throughout Saturday and Saturday night as
high pressure resides overhead of the area. Additionally, the region
will begin to see some sunny skies Saturday afternoon with the clear
skies lasting throughout the overnight hours. As such, temperatures
Saturday will warm up to have highs range from the upper 20s to low
30s, and lows cool off to be in the upper teens to mid 20s.

High pressure will continue to reside over the eastern Great Lakes
throughout the rest of the weekend supporting mostly sunny skies and
dry weather to grace the region. Temperatures will be on the climb
with highs in the upper 30s across eastern Lake Ontario and low to
mid 40s elsewhere.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
A northern stream trough will slide across the Upper Great Lakes
Monday, which will cause the southern stream closed low to ride
northeast up along the Atlantic coastline. While the closed low
aloft, and associated surface low will bring a mix of rain and snow
to far southeast New York, the western and north-central New York
regions will remain on the dry side as a ridge of surface high
pressure remains overhead of the region. Being on the northwest side
of the low, the region will remain under a warm southwesterly breeze
which will support surface temperatures to warm up into 40s, with a
few locations nearing the 50 degree mark.

Monday night, a weak surface low over the Hudson bay will cross east
across northern Quebec, where it will drag its cold front across the
region. Limited moisture and lift associated with the front may
support a few lake enhanced and upslope snow showers east of both
lakes. However, this front will mostly bring an abundance of clouds
to the region and mostly keep conditions on the dry side.

The aforementioned northern stream trough will phase together with
the southern stream low, causing the upper level pattern to become
better amplified. As a result, across the Great Lakes region a well
defined upper level ridge will support surface high pressure to push
across the region Tuesday. Overall another day of dry weather is
expected with clearing skies.

Then, Tuesday night a weakening shortwave trough across the Mid-West
will be heading north-northeast towards the Upper Great Lakes. In
return at the surface this will support a weak surface low to push
northeast as well, sprawling its surface warm front across the
region late Tuesday night through Wednesday. Overall expect a mix of
rain and snow showers to start early Wednesday morning before all
precipitation changes over to plain rain during the day Wednesday.

A secondary shortwave trough rounding the base of the longwave
trough across the central United States will support surface low to
form over Oklahoma Wednesday night. The surface low will then
strengthen as it tracks northeast towards the Great Lakes. Overall
this will bring another bout of rain to the region Thursday.

.AVIATION /09Z FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
West to southwest wind gusting to 35-45 knots will gradually
diminish today. Mainly MVFR flight conditions, with areas of IFR
this morning will slowly improve today as drier air starts to build
in. Some rain and wet snow showers through tonight, especially east
of the lakes.

Outlook...

Saturday...VFR/MVFR with lingering stratus and a small chance of
rain or snow showers.
Sunday through Tuesday...VFR

Strong low pressure will move to southern Quebec this morning before
exiting into the Canadian Maritimes by early tonight. West to
southwest gales on both Lake Erie and Lake Ontario will
gradually diminish this morning, with winds diminishing further
tonight.

High pressure will build across the eastern Great Lakes by Sunday,
bringing a period with negligible winds and waves.
